Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 I know we have not seen the two new signings in action for us so this is a little preemptive but what would your starting line up for our next game be (obviously excluding those currently injured and assuming new signings ready to hit the ground running). Mine would be: Bazunu KWP ABK Salisu Perruad Lavia Alcaraz JWP Edozie Onuachu Sulemana Tough call between Diallo and Alcaraz for me in the above. Alcaraz looked pretty handy in the first leg against NUFC but didn’t look great this evening. I think Diallo does break the play up well even though he does have his faults at time. Having a bench which includes DCC, Lyanco, Bree, Orsic, A Armstrong, Adams and Diallo isn’t bad.
Polaroid Saint Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Bazunu KWP ABK Salisu Perruad Alcaraz Lavia JWP Sulemana Onuachu Adams (That's NJ's infamous* 442/Midfield Diamond + utilising Che for what he is supposedly best at, supporting a No.9). Happy to see NJ try it for a couple of games at least. *Have we actually seen it yet?
Dman Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 McCarthy KWP ABK DCC Perruad Alacraz Lavia Winger JWP Winger Adams Salisu has been i liability for a while. Have left wingers as Tbf, they’re all shit. Haven’t included new lads as don’t know if they’re any good.
Jimbo Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Anyone but Bazunu in goal Back four; with a RB playing at RB and a LB playing at LB (KWP, RP); Christ knows from our CBs - not sure it makes much difference. Lavia and Alcarez/Diallo JWP Any two of our non-creative/non-scoring wingers - doesn't really matter which New Crouch up front Team almost picks itself. AlexLaw76 Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Why are you all listing back 4s? Mad Nate loves a hybrid back 3, and with the greatest respect, has a win Ratio of around 40%
badgerx16 Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Whatever our best 11 might be, NJ won't pick it.
S-Clarke Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 I think most of us have the same idea, just a shame we're not the manager. Bazunu (Willy/McCarthy) KWP (Bree/Lyanco) - ABK (or DCC) - Salisu (Bednarek) - Perraud (KWP/Larios) Lavia (hmm) - JWP (Diallo) Edozie (Moussa/Theo) Alcaraz (Airbo/Ely) Sulemana (Orsic/Armstrong) Ounachu (Adams/Mara) Biggest hole's still are in CM for me, we have 3 players for each position elsewhere. We just have to hope Lavia stays fit.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Feels like it’s not that difficult to pick a decent team. Bazunu KWP DCC Salisu Perraud JWP Lavia Alcaraz Sulemena Onuachu Orsic Would seem pretty odd to bring in the new boys and not play them. ABK or Salisu for me, but ABK has looked really poor under Jones, possibly a young player going through the motions, and probably had a good relationship with Ralph.
saintwbu Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 Wonder if the 5 at the back and two up front last night (for the first time since the Forest game I think?) is a suggestion of a desire to play two up top going forwards? Maybe Mara off Onuachu, as he seems to be able to finish and Onuachu supposedly likes to win flick ons etc.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 1 February, 2023 Share Posted 1 February, 2023 I feel it’s not difficult to pick a team. But we all know Nathan Jones likes to mix it up in terms of selection and tactics. Currently I’d go: Bazunu (reluctantly) KWP, DCC, ABK (although he’s made of glass, so maybe Salisu), Perraud Lavia, JWP, Alcaraz Sulemana, Onuachu, winger (could literally be anyone, Stu’s always been good but injury problems, Edozie I like but he’s very week and I think is better as an impact player, Orsic I don’t know enough about)
Chewy Posted 2 February, 2023 Share Posted 2 February, 2023 (edited) Being a squad game I’m going to cheat … but it does help show where we’ve got strength in depth and where we haven’t GK Bakunu CB 2 from ABK, DCC and Salusu FB KWP and Perraud DM Lavia CM JWP and 2 from Stu and Alcaraz Wide 2 from Orsic, Edozie and Sulaman the magnificent CF Onuachu I’ve discounted Tino as I don’t think we’ll see him this season. I think we’ve got backup for all where I’ve not listed options (McCarthy, Bree, Diallo and Adams or Mara - added to the above it’s 19 of your match day squad) but they’re not good enough to start IMHO. And I’m not doing cart wheels about our GK or LB and need to reserve judgement on wide players and CF. That still leaves all of Willy, Lyanco, Bednarek, Larios, Aribo, Ely, Theo, Djemepo and Adam A to find another sub or cover injuries. I’d happily see them all go and rely on youth quite frankly. Of course, none of the above will happen because, with the greatest of respect, I don’t know anything and we need a back 5. Both seem to recently have taken to dropping a little deeper to pick the ball up so would enjoy playing off Onuachu as a focal point. You then let Sulemana push forward on the left, and on the right you have Alcaraz tuck in, to let KWP bomb past him. JWP can also advance a little knowing he'd have Lavia sat behind him, and Alcaraz for support.

Just seems so obvious that something like this suits this squad so much more than anything that they have been used in. obviously something has happened with Orsic so that can be Stu or Edozie Alcaraz bought for a reason and not being used Sulamena being bought because of what he did playing wide and being played centrally crucially no Janny B in this line up either
