Not deemed worth a spot on the bench today so how did RM expect to change things when we were chasing a goal? Why can he not see that we need a plan B? We lumped a series of corners and free-kicks into the box and never looked like scoring from them yet we have a 6'7" guy who can head the ball not being given even a sliver of a chance to show what he can do.

Not even on the bench. We were getting some good crosses into the box, with no one there capable of taking advantage.

What the hell is wrong with RM?

I don't know why he's all of a sudden become good enough. He really isn't. I'm sure he'll be sold for £7mish in the next week or two.

Sorry, must have missed all those matches where he was given a chance to show what he can do.

You're not wrong. The amount of corners and free kicks that were put into decent areas in that second half and we had absolutely no aerial threat what so ever.

I am ITK on this one so can answer for you. He is being sold and has no future at the club.

I know that has come out of the blue but thats what I am hearing and that is why he wasn't on the bench.

Well that's fine if we are bringing in someone better. Which I very much doubt, but would be delighted to be proved wrong.

If not, it's madness to get rid of our only option at that role. It's not like we're getting a fortune for him, and we desperately need a big CF. The argument is it isn't in RM's style of play, which I consider bollocks, all teams put crosses into the box. Even if he doesn't start, he's an option that can be used later in the match if we're chasing the game.

Like today.

So why are we putting in corners and free kicks as though he's playing? Crazy.

There must have been something they saw in Tall Paul when they paid a lot of money for him in January 2023. He really did not get a chance to show what he can do before he was farmed out. If I was RM I would put my arm round him if he can reach and have another look at him. With his height he must bring something to the party.

He's played in 12 games for us mainly when we were struggling. Never been given a fair chance.

Quite frankly it is bonkers that they paid £18m for a player and then decided to just write him off after 12 games. Sometimes I think that it would be better to just say to our manager this is what you've got prove yourself.

Archer and Alcaraz’s two soft headers today showed how we missed Tall Paul

He was the wrong person, at the wrong time. He played, badly, in a team performing badly. Since then he has had two summers in which to make an impression, and failed. Unlike Carillo, there is a footballer in there, just not a Southampton footballer. Whether that is ability, attitude or what, I don’t know, but if you lent him a tenner, get it back quickly.

And the saga continues.

Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan:

"Onuachu was a player who played for us on loan last season. His club insistently demands around 15 million euros. We offered 8 million euros with bonuses."

“Trabzonspor cannot give 15 million euros to a football player right now. A player is 20-22 years old, it is our coach's request, then it will be considered"

“However, Trabzonspor cannot make such an offer to a 30-year-old player. The last 2-3 days. The situation is clear. We will wait and see."

If only we'd followed Trabzonspors logic when we went shopping in January 2023.

Yes, you have to say they have a valid point and the fact that he is nowhere near our first team squad shows we don't value him highly.

What's going on here then? 🤔

.... .and if he does get some game time sometime.. and gets a few goals, Trabzonspor won't be the only team looking at him

and pay the price and we may even get  a return of income on the whole deal... At least he seems to be fitter than Ross Stewart.

If we say age should be no bar, why isn't he being given a chance?. With his goal-scoring history, should we automatically assume

that he won't be able to get goals in the Prem.?

To be fair he didn't get a lot of game time , in a team that was bound for relegation and no creativity to speak of .

The only person with anything to lose ....is Russell Martin,  if he doesn't start getting points on the board.

After today RM may well give him a go. Archer, BBD and AA all blunt at this level.

His header positioning and ball holding is better than all of the above

Watch his goals video. He takes penalties.

....and we see that ..  he isn't totally dependent on scoring with his head . His groundwork isn't bad either.

Whilst the Turkish League maybe a bit suspect "quality wise" , the Belgian league he played in has masses of good players / teams

......and the irony is to think that we've had him on the books all the time.

After the  fiasco of those first four losses ..who else is left that we haven't tried in a strikers role ?

Time is running out Russell, what have you got to lose - except your job?

Anyone else feel we’re building up to the wheeze of playing him against Man City. Like redknapp hanging the kids out to dry in the cup and going see I told you.

I reckon it'll be Arsenal. Put him up against Saliba and Gabriel, best aerial centreback pairing in the Prem, and then drop him again for the rest of the season.

Perhaps that explains the issues, given the intensity of the premier league he's knackered by the 20th minute due to the lack of protein so cant coach the team properly. Would explain our good starts with subsequent 3 goal collapses against Man United, Bournemouth and Brentford recently plus the late goal v Ipswich.

Sutcliffe, recently pictured in the Broadmoor kitchen where he currently helps out as a porter, has recently been issued with a modified hostess trolley that can only move sideways at 0.5 mph to avoid causing concern.

Slightly vague suggestion that he could get a shot at the weekend (no pun intended). He seems to be the only player in the squad who if he was mugged by two uprights draped in net, would be able to actually identify what a goal looks like...

Posted

I'm not sure we'd be winless in 7 if we actually played this guy. Might have at least managed another draw. He needs to play. I feel the same about ABK.

Actually angers me that we could have lost Alcaraz ABK and talll paul if Martin had his way

proper centre forward performance by onuachu today and he has a bit of skill along with the physique .. really should be starting now his knock downs and lay offs are very effective

Imagine if we’d lost a player who’s never scored in England, a player who looked lost in the Championship and a player who didn’t want to be here. I don’t think I’d have been able to contain my anger.
