Saint_clark Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 Excitement amongst some is palpable to get in here and criticise. He linked up well in the first half, was shattered in the second. Mateta up front for Palace shows the benefits of having a player up front who may not get a lot of goals but can hold it up and link up well, which Onuachu does. He'll score goals if we continue to give him time, not a huge amount but some. 2

CSA96 Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 Watched him in the warm ups at Selhurst today. Was swinging at the ball in the shooting drill like he had a pirate's peg leg, and then after he eventually converted one - to ironic cheering and celebrations from the crowd - he was cracking up laughing about it. Fernandes was shaking his head and laughing to himself too Knew what sort of performance we were in for today after that 1

Is he going to bang in a load of goals, is he even going to reach double figures? No almost certainly not. Do we look a more cohesive, effective unit going forward with him holding the ball up? 100%. If we get Armstrong out and Archer or even Sulemana in alongside Dibling to drive forward instead of drift about uselessly, then we'll see more of the benefits. We saw it work for Palace with Mateta holding and Eze and Sarr running behind him. 4

I'd agree with that. Straw poll of half a dozen around me yesterday ranged from he's fucking useless to at least he offers something (without defining what he offers!) I'm in the 'give him a run in the team' camp. When he went off yesterday, the only goal threat come from Fernandes. Admittedly, TP had a crap game, but AA should be nowhere near the squad. Sulemana offers nothing. Tyler Dibling seems to have lost a bit of form, so TP and Archer should be the up front initial pairing being fed by KWP and Sugawara. Couldn't understand yesterday why KWP went on a searching run which led to our goal then after that seemed to hold back. It was almost like, 'shit that worked, better not do that again'. 2

Not quite. I'd put him in the camp of a forward who offers more at this level than the rest of our options up front who have given us jack shit. Onuachu would be a perfect Shane Long third fourth choice forward for us. Unfortunately we ain't got a decent first or second choice right now. 5 1

Considering he’s had like 3 starts not sure where you expect the goal record to come from .? he’s put in good performances under a manager that never wanted him vs teams like arsenal and Liverpool.. and another good game against West Ham really don’t get the negativity towards him. our other striking options are invisible for most of the matches and I include archer in that 1

the saint in winchester Posted 31 December, 2024 Posted 31 December, 2024 It looks like we have but a £10M/€13M price tag on him and there is interest from Turkiye again. Although that seems like pocket change to us, the buyer is looking to pay in instalments or give us a player in PX. But it looks like he will be sold by the end of Jan. I'm hoping that means we can bring in a scoring 9.

Lighthouse Posted Sunday at 17:32 Posted Sunday at 17:32 The whole 'never been given chance' thing is starting to wear a bit thin now. Three games in a row is time enough for any player to bang in a hattrick or two. Cut our losses. Said before I wanted to see him get a run of games and I stand by that - meaning 5 or 6 in a row at least, not 3 and out. The alternative is getting Armstrong back up front.
