Hopefully it'll be Grimsby

Hope they don’t still hold a grudge about us enticing Lawrie (then going back for Chatterley and Turner).

Remember we also played them in the late 70’s over three matches.

That's a good draw, I didn't realise how few PL teams there are left. Decent chance for a minnow to win a cup this year, it needed to happen at some point for Spurs I guess.

With the great respect derby incoming.

Then the ‘God willing’ rematch with Stoke in the next round

Good, hopefully we can leave the horrid shit at Luton and pretend he never happened.

Or you know, win.

Reminds me of one of my rugby coaches at school in the 70’s. (Mind you old ‘Taffy’ (or Mr) Williams (RIP)wouldn’t have been seen dead in that tracksuit get up

No doubt a TV game if Jonesy's old mob

Not sure it would to be honest, not an interesting tie for the general public.

Being a midweek round of games only two perhaps 3 games shown, will be Sheff Utd v Spurs

Bristol City v Man City

Perhaps Man Utd for the guaranteed viewing figures

Definitely a good draw though, our record reaching later rounds of cup competitions has been good last few seasons

All the games in the 5th round last season were on TV so I'd expect the same this year. Although we might be shunted to ITV4 or the BBC Red Button...

Just out of interest, does anyone know our best combined performance in the cups for a single season? If we do beat Luton, that'll be QF and SF as a minimum for this year.

1989 we got to the LC Final and teh FA Cup QF's IIRC

A good draw but does anyone else like me hope for an away day to a ground we'd never normally play? We seem to get home draws again and again.

Not quite the same but 1991/92 felt like a good year for cup runs , 4th round league Cup, 1/4 final replay in fa cup and final of the zds cup , with replays it felt like a lot of cup games.

I do, we've had Newport and Cambridge last couple of seasons so not too bad. With the next round being midweek an away trip to Grimsby would have been a struggle.

Sure we went a few years without a home draw. Seem to have had loads the last few seasons. Can’t complain.

Early rounds in the league cup have been a great chance to get some good away days, like Cambridge and Newport.
