What does realistic mean? £10m, £20m, 30m?

At £10m-£20m, I’d say save your money, you’re not getting anyone in this window of any worth costing less than this. In fact I would hazard a guess that £30m is the lowest, but is that realistic for SR to stump up? Probably not, so I’m afraid fantasising over a player we’ll never get is pointless. Sorry.

Obviously a bunch on here that are way above our station, but this is the top goals + assists in the top 10 leagues this season so far under the age of 23...must be someone in there that CDAJFU

Vitinha's release clause is reportedly £26m. So if we want him, we don't need to waste time haggling.

But Braga are having a great season and are second in the league. Why would he leave to play hoofball at the arse end of the PL when his team are in a title race?

"Fantasy" and keeping it realistic is difficult and I imagine we looked at most of these but couldn't find opportunities that actually worked.

Junior Adamu - Unrealistic but we were previously linked and he's in a smaller league

Terem Moffi - Seemingly SR's top choice, doesn't want PL unless huge wages or a bigger club

Moussa Dembele - Previously linked, had a bad season so far but still a good g/90 and pedigree

Lassina Traore - Stuck playing in Ukraine still, very talented young goalscorer

Beto - Bad footballer and can't pass, but his strength and pace cause problems and he takes chances

Petar Musa - Benfica's Nunez replacement but Ramos is clearly filling that void very nicely

Paul Onuachu - Off to Frankfurt, would win headers, not sure if he's got the movement or agility for PL

Sehrou Guirassy - Only basing this one off advanced stats and experience

Vitinha - Worth a look but wouldn't be confident that he's worth a £26m release clause

Elye Wahi - Not the most convincing record but is the best young #9 in Ligue 1

Ermedin Demirovic (Augsburg) - unlikely as he only moved there in the summer

Marcus Ingvartsen (Mainz 05) - again not likely as he only moved there in the summer

Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry) - most likely. Coventry moving towards no mans land where they're unlikely to make the playoffs or get relegated so they might cash in

Easy. Considering the strategy to buy young then it’s Marcos Leonardo for me from Santos.

took a liking to watching Brazilian football couple years ago and through last year, this kid has strength, turn of pace, good technique, got a trick in him and is a penalty box goal scorer

Shuto Machino & Cho Gue-sung

We could afford them both.

Emmaneul Dennis. Should've paid whatever we needed to in summer to get him ahead of Forest. We'd be comfortable midtable now.

The same Dennis who has flopped and hasn't been able to get into the team ahead of Surridge?

I was never sure on him, he had a purple patch at the start of the year with Watford and then fell off a cliff. That never recovered at Forest either, for £20m I'm glad we steered clear.

Same one yes, even more reason to go for him.

By your logic, Lukaku would also have been useless for us since he failed to turn up at Chelsea.

If we continue to steer clear of proven Premier League goal scorers, there's only one place we'll end up. In the Championship.

He may have not been a super star all seaon but I had him in my fantasy team, he scored goals and assists all through the season.

He's absolutely shite. Nowhere near good enough to get in Forest's team, and they're trying to get rid of him already...apparently he's a complete tosser too.

Sadly I think it's fantasy to believe that we'll get a striker.

We are reliably unreliable when it comes to delivering promises in any transfer window not just in January.

We know how this is going to end and the face saving bulls*t that will follow. The script is written, they just need to blow off the dust and change the date.

I'm going with Mateo Retegui - top scorer in Argentina last season on loan from his Boca Juniors to Tigre. He outscored the strikers from Boca Juniors! Only 23 and  looks to be well within our price range.

Vitinha: SC Braga this week rejected an offer of 18 M € from an English club, which, in turn, warned that it would increase the value in the next few hours. The Braga fans continue to ask for a number close to the 30 M termination clause €
