What a fucking shambles this club is at the moment.

Wonder if this is linked to the manager. He’s got no interest in the development of the youth players.

You’d hope he’d learned from Dibling, but maybe not.

How do you know the manager has no interest in developing youth players? What a ridiculous statement to just pluck from the sky.

Always going to be the problem when getting kids to sign their first contract. He’s been playing u18 and will get attention from other clubs. They just have bigger budgets to store kids than we do. Someone is obviously prepared to offer him higher wages, maybe he needs to have a word with Dibbling?

At 16/17 you can’t expect to be first team ready so realistically it’s about another year with u18 and then either a loan or pushing for the first team squad then.

you always hope kids are loyal when signing their first pro deal to the club who has developed them over the years but clearly not always the case.

A couple of things, Jones don’t play academy players and maybe he’s waiting for better terms from Saints.

The absolute state of these two 😂

Imagine being so utterly obsessed with hating one person that a report from a proven unreliable source about a 17 year old boy is all they need to desperately froth at the mouth.

I think I’ve told one of you before, take some time away, when the fun stops, stop.

We can't even keep hold of the revitalised academy gems in the premier league. Imagine what will happen in the 2nd tier. SR should be all over this, some of the best u18s in the country are at staplewood, no need to spend tens of millions on other club's hand offs.

This is a big problem. If we can't get our most promising academy players to sign professional contracts with us, it raises some serious questions about the viability of us having an academy. It costs a fortune to maintain a category 1 academy and we've not been reaping many benefits these past few years.

On another note, will we lose our category 1 academy status when we get relegated?

Dont think so, there are a bunch of clubs in lower divisions I think who are category 1.  Not sure exactly how it works

Like or not, Saints are in the biggest relegation fight for years and Jones faces the spectre of being remembered as the bloke who took us down. In these circumstances the chances of Academy players getting a run out are pretty much zero.

Morgan should not get ahead of himself, yes he finds the net at B level regularly but the PL is miles above the level he is used to. The key to his situation like Ballard's and others is head down and work even harder, put in the graft and show the determination and grit that the manager wants to see from any player. There are no free passes to a place in a PL side or indeed any of the Football League clubs so if this young man has deluded himself into thinking that life will be easier and fairer at another club then he is in for a very big shock indeed.

OK so none of us know the facts;  it could be that he is not happy here for personal reasons and I am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt but otherwise he would be well advised to sign a contract and get on with the hard work. After all what can he lose by staying here for a couple of years.

As disappointing as this is, how are we supposed to persuade a kid to commit his next few years to us when we're staring at relegation, when other clubs are circulating and doubtless offering the kid loads of cash?

Answers on a postcard for what is expected of the club.

Some you win some you lose - it’s his choice. The wrong one if you ask me but thars life.

Play him against Blackpool this weekend. See what he has got. We did that with Small against Coventry last year. He was so far out of his depth that he was never seen again. If he smashes it up then we know what we are looking at. Personally don't see the issue with playing him. He's only a year younger than Edozie, and he's not exactly been a relevation.

Maybe he feels the pathway would be  clearer elsewhere? We've finally got our academy back thriving and that has seen B team fortune's also upturn but where do they go from there ? The first team are hoofing it and play such negative football so it's hardly inspiring for these youngsters to stick around. Playbook totally redundant under this manager imo.

I know that some of the extremely talented players coming through were unimpressed with the first team opportunities provided to them by Ralph and NJ coming in has not improved matters to date. This is exactly the sort of game to give a young player a start.

Sounds a good idea

he turned 17 last week, I can't believe some are blaming the club for not playing him in the first team 😂

I see no reason why he can't play vs Blackpool on Saturday. That's where we should be experimenting, not EPL.

Give him and Tyler, Dom a run against Blackpool. If they aren't up to it, they will know it themselves and knuckle down. But imagine if they were to shine ... then maybe they go to next level.

Prob lem is that if Morgan did shine, he will command even more money and enhance his lifestyle but of no advantage to us

I know, we're in the midst of a relegation fight but hell we need to play wee Jimmy in case his parents throw a huff and advertise his services to other teams. If he doesnt want to be here after what the club have done for him, then he can do one

According to Hampshire Live  he has 18 months left on his Scholarship deal so not that straightforward.

I would think relegation wouldn't necessarily be considered a downer for a youth player on the fringes of the first team squad.  He's more likely to get regular minutes in a lower division side than trying to break into a premier League team

Not sure I buy anything about wanting first team football if Man City are a potential suitor, unless he thinks going to City means we’ll spend £10mil on him and chuck him straight in the first team.

I dont think they need to advertise its fairly open.  I think that a club went to Gascoines parents and gave them a house to get him to sign
