What a f***** mess that is.  And no Prowsey.

What a sh*t team and a s**t club we now have

It should be good enough to win today, and keeps others fresh for Tuesday. I'm happy with that.

Jesus christ, its Blackpool get a grip. Obviously resting JWP is a good idea for Tuesday, that 11 and bench has enough to get through today.

Can't decide if I like that line up or not. It's definitely a bit different. Will let you know what I think more in a few hours time...

Pleased to see JWP rested. Hopefully thats all it is. Always a bit worried how often he plays with no rest.

Shame Mccarthy isn't back. Not sure why we are playing the 40plus caballero. Hopefully JWP has just been given the day off. Other than that it is largely the expected lineup.

Shame only 1 u23 on the bench. Let's hope Ballard gets some minutes.

We have a lot of crap on the bench - and only Ballard from the U23s.  Would have liked to have seen Doyle and Dibling on the bench with Payne starting.  he looked decent against Cambridge

Line up looks attacking, glad to see ABK back but if that doesn't make it blatantly obvious we need another CM/DM I don't know what else will.

We have JWP, Lavia, Diallo and Alcaraz.

Striker is the immediate need.

It’s an alright lineup. Glad big Willy is getting some time and Bazunu comes out of the spotlight. Would prefer Alcatraz to Aribo. Good bit of rest for JWP, that front 3 looks to be where we might be headed in the league.

Strange to play Lavia when he can only play 60 minutes and we have a cup semi final in 3 days

It's a strong line up I think, I just can't understand resting Lavia on Tuesday night and playing him today, he is vital for us to have any chance up at St James' Park

Agreed re Lavia. I can only assume he felt Diallo and JWP were more in need of a rest, and didn't fancy AMN in there.

Probably illustrates what already seems obvious- Alcatraz better than Aribo, and will get game time in other games…

Jones explained in the press conference yesterday why he preferred Diallo over Lavia for the Newcastle first leg. I imagine it's the same for Tuesday.

I didn't hear that, but I can tell him we didn't give ourselves our best chance by not playing Lavia

Missed it, what did he say?

Tuesday game was always going to be the more physical one and considering where Lavia is in terms of being managed back from his injury they chose to manage his minutes in that one for the benefit of upcoming games. Then went on to say Diallo is fantastic off the ball but needs to work on his game when on the ball and implied the other way around for Lavia (by stating that together they would be a complete midfielder worth £150 million).

So I'm guessing Tuesday he'll go Diallo again at the start at least. He also made it pretty clear the PL is the priority so I'd suspect they want Lavia back in for that one.
