Think their fans wanted him out, 2nd bottom of the championship looking likely to drop down to league one. Like us I'd imagine the FA Cup isn't first priority. Big game for them Saturday v Huddersfield.

McCarthy confirmed as Blackpool new manager.  Not sure if that's good news or not for us.

Well I'm sure he won't be bothered about the FA Cup, so hopefully their reserves can show him why they're not in the team

New manager bounce incoming?

Their game v Huddersfield was called off yesterday due to a frozen pitch so it really will be Mick McCarthy's first game, got a feeling we'll end up with a replay, what's Blackpool beach like this time of year?

They'll fancy their chances, bottom of the Premier league v 2nd bottom in the championship

What sort of team do we play for this? Hope we see a couple of the U21s.

A rotated one, but one that should still be able to get the job done.  Assuming DCC is banned for Tuesday, (which I think is accurate), he might as well play on Sat. Rest Lavia and Alcaraz for Tuesday.  Possibly rest JWP too.  Hopefully get into the lead by half time and then give Ballard / Morgan / Dibling some pitch time towards the end.

Something like:

Caballero

Payne DCC Salisu Perraud

AMN Diallo

AArmstrong Elyounoussi Edozie

Agree with that although think Orsic could do with more game time to help him settle in, got a feeling Walcott might feature as well.

Will be nice to enjoy the game without too much pressure and no away fans in the home end for once (think Blackpool will bring about 1000 plenty of tickets to spare for them)

The B team have a game away to Middlesbrough on Friday night so will probably get an idea from that line up

My guess something like. Would personally like to see at least 1 of B team start thought & wish Bednarek was nowhere near Saints squad

Mccarthy

Lyanco Bednarek Salisu Perraud

Elyounessi JWP Lavia

 Edozie Mara Orsic

Bednarek can't play as he is cup tied.

Reading up on DCC suspension , think he is out as yellow card suspension are competition specific but red card covers all games so I think his one match ban is covered by this match

What's happened to Joe Aribo? Would make sense to play him as well, not had many minutes recently

Yup completely forgot about him, and agree with Orsic, he needs minutes too.

Think DCC is banned for Tuesday, because it was 2 yellows, but I might be wrong. Would happily take him as banned for this Saturday though and available on Tuesday !

No idea where to check.

Bednarek is cup tied, and DCC is confirmed as suspended for this game according to this:

So Sali & Lyanco at the back for this one for me, with Payne and Perraud either side.

We should dominate the ball, so play the 4222 the club is used to. I think that this is our absolute lowest priority right now and should be used for some debuts and needed minutes for some players. Shame Bednarek is Cup tied and ABK is still out.

                 Bazunu

Bree Lyanco Salisu Perraud

            JWP   Diallo

Doyle                       Orsic

       Adams   Morgan

Edit: Bree for AMN

I think he may still need some more rest. He looked very tired the last time he played strolled.

Tough choice on team selection ...

Pick your best and run the risk of injury, fatigue or further demoralisation if defeated.

Pick a second string team and really risk a defeat, thus formally drawing the season to a close.

Me, I'd play the highest paid feckers and go for it. They are all in the shop window for the summer now anyway. Would be nice to get something out of them before they are gone.

Put Adams in goal and our front line in defence, that would eliminate any chance of an own goal.

Don’t care who plays tbh just want to see a controlled and assured win - none of this running around at 100 miles per hour with rockets up there arses trying to string more than 2 passes together. This should be about quality.

Third home game in a week so understandable that ticket sales are low, especially following 2 defeats with no goals, probably will only be 17-18k , it is quite nice to have an old school Saturday 3pm cup tie where people can pay on the day so might get a few walk ups.

Problem is we'll probably field an XI that have never played together before against what will likely be a settled starting line up from Blackpool, they had no game last week and have a week until next match so would expect McCarthy to play a first XI in his first game in charge

I get that but no matter what 11 we put out they should be more than a match. We need to dictate the pace of the game at home. This game will tell me more about NJ than any of the others tbh.

Would expect to see Morgan in the squad tomorrow then and maybe Luke Pearce too as he isn't involved.

Shame if Payne and Ballard aren't near the squad.

What about Dibling?

I'll be there but more rail bus replacement services so that will put some off. My train on Tuesday was cancelled so I ended up walking 2.5 miles home from a different station so car and sobriety it is then.

Not sure we have two u-21 centre backs worth playing that aren’t on loan or olly Lancashire

Looks like Morgan wasn't involved in this afternoons B game so likely he'll feature

If its all about giving players a game it could be

Bazuna

Bree  Bendarek Salisu Perraud

Walcot  AMN JWP Elyounoussi

Orsic Morgan

Not that formation obviously but I'm sure some of those players will get a game. We need Walcot and Bendarek to be up to speed and unless JJ Morgan gets a game soon he will quite rightly look elsewhere.

Looks a small team and perhaps a bit weak for facing a championship team but with a gruelling match on Tuesday there will need to be changes.

With all due respect, god willing, we'll play aggressive front-footed football.
