Master Bates Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 (edited) Charlie Boss as the new Chief Commercial Officer. He was appointed before Christmas but the club couldn’t announce it until today https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2023-01-18/chief-commercial-officer-announcement-charlie-boss-southampton-football-club-2023 Edited 19 January, 2023 by Master Bates
JRM Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 8/10 window. Honestly didn't know we have a chairman called Henrik Kraft
SotonianWill Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 fair play to the club for pulling this one off
Miltonaggro Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 Always rated Charlie Boss, proper football man, good to have some experience at the photocopier. 2

It was very clearly a choice between a new commercial manager and signing a striker and I, for one, support the club making what is obviously the correct decision. 5

leeham_69 Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 “We are looking forward to getting started together." It's this kind of cut-through, real talk that really inspires the fans.
Badger Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 Goes without saying - which is probably why they haven’t bothered - that we’ve tracked Charlie Boss over his career and he was always our number one target. And had to fight off last minute interest from a couple of unnamed premiership clubs for his signature. 1
trousers Posted 18 January, 2023 Posted 18 January, 2023 Change the title FFS... "Comms" is short for "Communications" not "Commercial" FFS. FFS 8

bangkoksaint Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 (edited) Sorry but the title says ‘Comms Officer’ (I read that as Communications Officer). Not that it makes a difference but he’s a Commercial Officer. Anyway we still need a striker…….. Edited 19 January, 2023 by bangkoksaint

SotonianWill Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 He has a shit taste in beer if he chose budweiser to sponsor the FA Cup
Convict Colony Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 I look forward to being sponsored by Hugo Boss Boss global Boss Snowplows And of course Tony Danza of Whose the Boss fame.
once_bitterne Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 He'll have fun when our revenue drops 80% in May. 1
64saint Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 The club shop in the Marlands is apparently closing in a couple of weeks, so looks like the new commercial manager has hit the ground running.
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2023 Posted 19 January, 2023 wonder if he can use his family contacts to get us a better kit maker?
CSA96 Posted 5 June, 2024 Posted 5 June, 2024 Has left for family reasons. Was commuting from Hackney apparently, as didn’t relocate https://x.com/alfiehouseecho/status/1798452145483546919?s=46&t=f0hgNyKSvvOD5qjGLJhsXQ

Sadly not well enough that I can get any info which will elevate me to CoT status. 1

Maybe if he said a cheap seaside B&B, he would have got it 🤔 CB’s response: After an unforgettable 18 month journey with Southampton Football Club, I am delighted to be handing the baton to Saints’ new Chief Revenue Officer, Greg Baker. He is inheriting a talented Commercial team that has been doing phenomenal work and has big ambitions for next season in the Premier League and beyond. Having worked closely with Greg throughout my time with the club, I can’t think of a better person to help the team realise those ambitions. Thank you to all my colleagues and our fans for their warmth and kindness while I have been with this wonderful club. It was so special to be part of our promotion journey this season. Once a Saint, always a Saint 😇 I am looking forward to taking some time with my family over the summer while I consider what comes next. Edited 6 June, 2024 by Doctoroncall … 1
kjurwi Posted 6 June, 2024 Posted 6 June, 2024 Been scouting him for years and we would never have been relegated if we had appointed him a couple of years ago.
Saint_clark Posted 6 June, 2024 Posted 6 June, 2024 A big loss. I remember seeing him in a meeting once and thinking "who is that commercial officer he is so dominant". 1 2
malcolm waldron Posted 6 June, 2024 Posted 6 June, 2024 Good decision by the club - we all want RM to be absolutely ruthless this summer as he builds a team capable of dominating 'the Prem' - and this early decision will rightly send shockwaves through the first team. It sends out the clear message that I (not me obviously - but Russell Martin) am in complete control here .....

S-Clarke Posted 9 June, 2024 Posted 9 June, 2024 Not fully related, but we've lost another member of staff who was only appointed last summer - along with the U18 manager, we've now lost the youth recruiter. Southampton's head of academy recruitment set to depart for Tottenham | Daily Echo 1

The Cat Posted 9 June, 2024 Posted 9 June, 2024 Whenever people say our staff turnover is ridiculous are they comparing that to other teams that they know have a lot fewer staff moving roles? Be interesting to know if they are basing that on fact or just randomly throwing it out there as a thing. 1
Secret Site Agent Posted 9 June, 2024 Posted 9 June, 2024 Whats the matter with them. Couldn't they get Fred Chairman, or Alfie Manager?

Yeah, kinda how I'm seeing it. If they can replicate this turn over on the pitch, we'll be in good shape next season. That being said, from a pure strategic poisiton (and obviously replicating that sucess will be harder if the decision makers are also moving on), you do want / need consistency at the top... 2
