Going for best wages offer

Fair play to him.

He has genuinely maximised his earnings so well over the last couple of years.

Utterly toilet career from a footballing point of view, for someone with his talent. But he can retire happily, so fair play

Huge game this. I know they are all three points for a win etc but if we can get a win against these then the momentum and belief will really gather some momentum.

ironically I think they will miss Ings. Lavia plus one holding and JWP playing the Mount role could cause them problems.

if we squeeze them and they decide to go long I believe Car and Salisu will win the Ariel balls.

Hope we get all over then in first fifteen minutes and rattle their defence.

let’s hope the atmosphere is good and positive before hand.

They should certainly clean up.

A bit worried about this one. The noises coming out of the club all week have been a bit smug and self-congratulatory. We're still bottom of the table and have to be even better than last week to beat Villa.

Not sure where you got that idea from Nothing smug about Nathan Jones' press conference.

Perhaps you mistook the happiness and relief from picking up 3 points for the first time in months.

Never change a winning team according to the experts on here. I would definitely change it.

                      Bazunu

Lyanco      DCC    Salisu       KWP

                  Diallo   Lavia

     AA              JWP          Orsic

                      Adams

Not convinced with Diallo but we need somebody alongside Lavia to allow JWP to play more advanced. Would ideally play Alcaraz closer to JWP but I think that might be exposing Lavia and our defence a little too much

Can't see this being it, but it's how I'd like to see us line up. Diallo, Moi and Djenepo still very much our weak links, Alcaraz looks promising in his 25 minutes at Goodison and Orsic is certainly a marked upgrade. Armstrong has looked better since they've clicked under NJ.

Same but edozie fir AA

I didn’t see anything smug or self congratulatory from Jones’ press conference, to be honest. Just quite honest. If anything he was fairly quiet and closed, nothing grandiose at all.

That highlights how weak we are still up top and right wing.

Mather Mather Mather grumble grumble grumble - we get it you know.

Not sure I'd ever mentioned anything about the right wing. Whe I you see the formation like that you can see it more obviously. I'd say the rest of the team is OK but those two positions are the obvious weak points.

Strange comment. Not heard anything close to smug.

Positivity, relief, enjoying win but not smug.

Agree still bottom and far from sorted out, although win this and will take a lot of pressure off.

As for the team, would be very surprised if he doesn't go for Lavia/ Diallo behind JWP after his comments that this three have 100% record together (only earlier use being beating Chelsea at home).

Would like to see Orsic one side, the other I can see arguments for any of AA, Moi or Edozie (Edozie least likely to start).

Upfront think Che, but wouldn't be stunned with Mara.

There isn't much between most teams that variations in confidence can't even out.

Think a win is most likely result.

Most footballers are so greedy though. I understand the average person changing jobs for a pay rise but when you’re earning the money they do it doesn’t make much difference. He could have stayed at saints for the reported 100k a week and most likely played more football and scored more goals. Not to mention achieving legend status amongst fans. He has become a part time mercenary for a bit more cash.

It's difficult isn't it? Didn't see much from Alcaraz against Everton but he practically just stepped off the plane and the alternatives are such cack.

I would swap Alcaraz with JWP to give us more defensive discipline and free up charly to attack, I would also be very very tempted to start Mara over Che to make our forward line more mobile and also more lethal.

Also would keep A Armstrong actually, think he has confidence and he works really hard closing down and worked well with mara.

However I am an arm chair expert and no practical skillset other than posting sexy croatians.

Really huge game this one…a win would really show Jones is starting to work well with the squad and get his ideas across. And of course there’s the small issue of us lifting away from the bottom of the table. I hope SMS is an absolute fortress and scoring the first goal will be so important in this…go behind and the fans will go quiet and turn, as the previous wins fade into history. COYR!

2-1 to saints. Adams and JwP.......

I reckon we will start with the hybrid back 4, but with Salisu in the LB position to counter the threat of Bailey on their right cutting in

adams never scores against villa

Flashbacks to the Villa home game from the 04/05 season. 2-0 up, 2-3 down, that was the game when I realised that despite the new manager and new players, relegation was the most probable outcome come May.

Really hope we don't have a repeat of that punch to the stomach today.

That's right WG, I am actually optimistic that the side turned a corner against Everton and will get a result today, but a lifetime's experience of supporting SFC...

shooting chapel kop first half surely is the way to go every game, it’s bad luck and an advantage to the opposition any other way
