And that's why we'll be relegated.  Absolute garbage, home game in which we never, ever looked like scoring.  Woeful performance, no composure on the ball at all, and I lost count of the times we gave it away cheaply, barely strung 3 passes together. Lots of hoof ball with no invention at all. Villa were not a good side, but they were miles better than us, and let's be honest, the scoreline flattered us as well.  I said pre-match that this is a game we mustn't lose, at half time I would've taken a point, but honestly, we got what we deserved in the end.  We are in big trouble.

Poor. We were terrible in possession throughout, created fuck all, made a couple of customary defensive errors, and that's your lot. Rinse and repeat.

There was no style, no patterns of play. No plan to unlock Villa. We had the ball in the net from a goalmouth scramble, but it wasn't exactly the result of flowing football.

That it was disallowed was a joke - the "clear and obvious error" threshold that the refs have been reiterating in the last few weeks obviously doesn't count for little old Southampton.

But ultimately we got what we deserved over the 90 minutes. A point would've been pretty fortuitous.

A poor team, playing poor football, getting poor results. Prospects look poor. What's that, 5 defeats in 6 for the Messiah? Really turned things around, huh.

The current bottom three are your relegated teams this season.

It's ironic the first time we have owners who are splashing the cash and we are bottom of the league, it's soooo saintsy.

Are we buying players that suit our style? Btw what is our style? 😜

Saints weren't great but besides from the freekick Villa didn't really create many clear cut chances.

VAR could easily have decide that Watkin's knee was beyond Lyanco's head and that he was offside. And could easily have decided that Elyanoussi's arm brushed the back of their defender rather than shoved him over and allowed our goal to stand.

Ultimately VAR decided Villa were to win.

A draw maybe, but Villa to have won that based on those two goal decisions is astounding.

I'm not a fan of the new style offside rule, but it gets used one week and not the next, whoever draws these lines seems to have a great deal of poetic license. It's marginal and could have gone either way. But not when you're going to be pedantic enough to rule out our perfectly good goal.

3 of our next 4 PL matches are awayl Brentford, Chelsea, and Leeds, with a home game against Wolves in between. Can see us with 15 points from 24 games played by the end of February.

Realistically we're down, glimmer of hope after Everton but this team isn't winning enough games or scoring enough goals

Another club: Great $30M agreed, you can talk to our striker to arrange a contract.

Saints: OK, here's what our bench looks like, very comfortable...

Player: I want to start the game, I'm in the form of my life and excited to...

Saints: ....made of the finest Kangaroo leather...

Player: ....

Saints: So how about that drink holder?

I see the Bazunu blamers are put in force again. Free header 6 yards out is his fault apparently. Fact is we can't defend set pieces.

Did you even watch the game? Bazunu is just Angus Gunn mark II. I was happy to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how he got on as the season progressed but enough is enough, he inspires zero confidence.  Caballero needs to come in if AM is still injured.

Any optimism I had after the miracles of last week had faded by half time today. I know people will go back to the VAR decision but we didn’t deserve anything.

No way we make up 25 points in 18 games, we’re fucked. This side is worse than the one that went down in 04/05, and that’s saying something

My own Onservations

First half terrible we did nothing

How is Diallo a midfielder the man cannot pass a football amount of times he gave the ball away.

We looked better got about 2 minutes when Jones put KWP on right but nah overall rubbish.....

How that could be a foul is just mind boggling, every challenge should be a foul if that’s the case.

I also don’t understand what happened to us at set price defending, in our best days under Ralph we would hold a high line and the opposition would always be offside, slowly that high line disappeared and now we just concede.

it wasn’t an a easy save for Bazunu, but he just never saves anything, Martinez made a couple of crackers, there is your difference

How does Orsic not play infront of Edozie? Makes no sense at all.

special shout out to Mara who probably played the worst I have ever seen a player at this level, made Ali Dia look like Messi.

To be fair we havent seen anything so far from Orsic to go with that but your right his CV shows he should be starting I'd have him instead of the armstrong role on the other wing.

Back to reality.

After the optimism of last week, we're down aren't we?

Can't say it's not deserved, a performance like today is bad, but when there are more of these days than the good days, there's no escaping relegation.

There were 3 or 4 guys out there today that had absolute nightmares. Bazunu, Che and Diallo. To be competitive, everyone needs to be on their game. That's on the manager.

Yep. Not a push from Moi and Watkins knee was ahead. Notice there was no measuring lines eh? Funny that. Remember that Ings goal that got called back vs WHU where they spent 5 minutes measuring until they said that the armband be was wearing put him off.

EPL want us gone, we don't make them enough money.

You assume we wouldn't have contrived to throw the game from 1-0 up.

I actually have slightly more faith in us to hold on to slender leads right now, but what that’s based on I’m not so sure. We would have got at least a point though I believe. Anyway, all irrelevant now.

Believe it or not that VAR decision will be classed as VAR correcting an on field mistake and Jim White will be crowing about how great VAR is for the game.

Absolutely shite again.  No pattern of play, more formations than you can shake a stick at and Orsic and Alcatraz must be fucking shit if Elyounoussi gets on before them.

We have really fucked up with our choice of manager and we have a keeper that couldn’t catch a fucking cold.

Absolute waste of my afternoon.

Remove the rose tints.  There were measuring lines, he was onside, we failed to defend a simple free kick. There's no conspiracy at work here, we are shyte.

There were several standout players for Saints today. Firstly a shoutout for Diallo who managed to produce some of the most dangerous AV attacks by giving the ball away. The prize for stupidity has to go to Elyonoussi for his shove in the players back just before the disallowed goal. The second prize goes to Mara for a succession of stupid pushes especially for the one resulting in Watkin's goal. He wasn't alone Armstrong was doing it all afternoon. Finally Che Adams for doing nothing for an hour including a stupid offside then missing his kick completely. We've just bought a goalscorer in Orsic so why don't we play him. And definitely finally after lining up for the free kick why didn't we hold our line. The whole Villa team would have been offside. Instead we all went backwards and Lyanco's shoulder put Watkins onside.

Bazunu,Diallo liabilities….but I could go on.
jones is a cockwomble,absolute twat.
get that useless cunt out.
what was he thinking. If he really was.
We are pretty much down so we need to suck it up I suppose.
obvious since the summer we needed some  up top.
but alas…we lumber on towards the end of the window without addressing the real problems.
did we really switch to 5 at the back? And then revert back again to 4?
Jones just fuck off.
you come across as a narcissistic twat….do one.

Jones is a fucking idiot persisting with Diallo and bringing Elyounoussi on.  Terrible appointment.

we need to buy a striker. It’s simple

Two things that irritate me the most:

1) Buying new players to try and improve the side, yet sit them on the bench for entireties of the match and still stick with a same XI that we’ve had all season and wonder why we are still as shit as we were before the World Cup when all the other teams are buying and sticking them straight in.

2) Strikers. No goals = Starting with Adam Armstrong and Che Adams. Sheer lack of urgency to have bought anyone in, should have had someone in early January, nevermind in the summer and we are STILL waiting, 31st January is going to be FAR too late, our lack of goals are evidently going to relegate us and the board can thank the time they’ve wasted to bring anyone in for that.

The only question on my mind now is, who is actually going to stay with us when we go down and who are we losing? We are effectively down with the sheer lack of points we have had from our “winnable run” - absolutely no chance we are getting 25+ pts from here.

Fat lot of use these new signings are going to be if we don't play them.

Quite worrying really.

We’ve signed 10 players this season. 1 is injured, 1 didn’t make the match day 20, 4 others were on the bench. Our two latest signings, and therefore you’d have hoped our real hopes of improvement, spent almost all of the game on the bench, Orsic came on with 6 minutes to go, Alcatraz nothing.

Serve shite up like that and we’re going down with a whimper.

Soooooo Diallo has been absolutely slated on here

yet Micheal Dawson has just said him and Lavia were brilliant breaking things up.

who is right, the former England international or the people thumping away at their keyboards watching it on a stream?
