Saints Kits Season 2023/24

About 2 weeks ago these were revealed. Any idea if they are going to be sold to the public? Got the proper badge on and all. Or is it going to be like the Earps goalkeepers top for the World Cup situation and they are not putting the top on sale? Thus meaning that England fans have to buy the outfield shirt and get number 1 on the back! 🙄

That’s something they just do in their pictures isn’t it? I think the actual shirts have a crest. I dunno, I don’t buy shirts, but sure I’ve seen it mentioned before.

Yeah they get around selling the fakes by not advertising them with crests or manufacturers logos but they are included upon delivery.

I like it, black and yellow is a good combination. Way better than the home and away kits.

Our traditional* away colours (well, amber and black) before we joined the 1970’s fashion craze for yellow and blue.

* await the MLG debate about what is traditional, as I’m aware we previously wore white, and on one occasion I think claret and blue.

Obviously that photo is crap but you can tell it’ll be a decent kit.

Ultimately I couldn’t give a shit if the players play in thongs or mankinis providing they win the game. 😂

Not a spectacle I’d pay to see, and if anything would go out of my way to avoid.

That’s the GK second kit isn’t it ?

If we have to change as our first kit (red/white, or red/pink depending on your view of it) clashes with the home team, how will the GK be able to wear that ?

Or if the GK first shirt clashes, say at Watford or Hull, that will surely clash with our first choice for outfield players.

Yes, they take usually take out copyrighted logos such as sports brands or club crests from photos but theyre all on the product.

Good point 🤔. I hoping it will go on sale though as I fancy this for the gym. Not seen anything about since a post about 3 weeks ago on their socials.

You're right, it happened already and they didn't! The women's team played Forest over the weekend. Forest wore red, so we wore our away kit, but the keeper wore the home keeper kit. I guess we couldn't wear the third keeper kit with the away because the shorts and socks are basically the same too. We appear to have three colours palettes this season (red/pink, teal, and black/yellow) so we'll get all sorts of varieties of keeper and outfield kits, and possibly odd socks with kits to make them work. We'll be able to wear the home against teams playing in white, but probably not the white socks so we'll need a change for those games.

Think the new third kit is ok, with of course the exception of the oversized sponsor logo. The black with yellow works.

Have to say though, I don’t really get the New Forest on the shirt thing…Southampton and it’s suburbs are not really in the Forest - even Marchwood/Staplewood. Is there some historical connection such as ship builders using timber harvested from the Forest?

Erm. It's on the club crest...

Southampton isn't in the water either but that's on the badge !

Its "close proximaty" to the sea and the forest are the ideas they work with.

that third kit has now been officially launched. still think it looks like someone's sneezed on it. home kit awful. away kit i now kind of like. oh for the days of good adidas.

Adidas 15/16, best kit we’ve had for a few years.

I don’t get why kits have to symbolise something, the new one I couldn’t care less if it represents the New Forest, it’s smart enough, they all are better collectively than some of the rubbish we’ve had previous seasons, but it doesn’t have to mean something.

It's a shame the club do not appear to have released a Starling Bank (womens team) version of the away & 3rd choice kits. The home shirt appears to have been quite the success for those that i) don't want a betting company on the front or ii) don't actually like how the betting company logo looks on the shirt.

Well yes I knew it was on the badge FFS, but still doesn’t really explain why!  And having it on the badge doesn’t really explain why they’d think it a good idea to put it on the shirt…it’s a bit of a mess. Think a design that utilises the Bargate would be much more appropriate. lol

That 3rd kit is decent in my opinion. I like all of them in fact, but think the away one would have looked better if the trim was in a proper blue or green, not the pastel half way house.

Agreed, I quite like all 3 kits (though not seen any in the flesh yet).

I couldn't care less about the "meaning" behind them though and can't imagine anyone else does either.

The two water lines represent the two rivers and the tree represents the parks of Southampton. Not the sea or the forest, according to the designers son who came on here years ago to explain it.

Are you sure about this? I'm fairly sure the Test and Itchen are water, and Southampton water must be pretty poorly named too then. The city exists because historically it was a very important port town commercially, pretty good going for no water...

For me the year prior is the better kit, that shirt always felt a bit like a Stoke kit for me, too much white.

Can get that red one cheaper here: https://www.marksandspencer.com/spiderman-short-pyjama-set-2-8-yrs-/p/clp60601889

The blue one (which you haven't included a picture of) is nicest of the three.

Which brings me to my next question. How do you attach pictures to posts? I'm too thick to work it out.

These look properly decent. As a slight aside, does anyone know if you can park free at the stadium, if you’re using the shop on non match days?

Yes, just go to the barriers and say you are visiting the shop.

Is there an option to get any of the kits without the gambling sponsor? My child is now in adult sizes and I want to avoid if possible. I thought it was mentioned on here a while back. Thanks.

I contacted the club about this but have not had a response. The home kit with the Starling Bank sponsor seemed to be very popular... I wouldn't mind finding out the sales figures.

It does feel like a trick has been missed not to sell away & 3rd kits with the option of having the non-gambling sponsor on it.... the Starling sponsor logo also looks much better too.

Some other clubs do/have actually sold replica kits with no sponsor on at all. I remember Celtic definitely used to do it (and charged more for it  than the sponsored one 🤪). I haven’t bought a shirt for years but I consistently think that 99.99% of all kits with a sponsor would look better without one.
