I think we need to start early this year so the club have time to realise that most of us want red and white stripes.

I'm assuming we'll go back to yellow away, got to be nailed on that one.

Do we?! 😉

Im not a massive fan of our current home kit but I very much like a variation from stripes quite often. People go on about ‘tradition’ but I just point to Barcelona. You can’t get much bigger a club side than them yet they’re not remembered for only wearing stripes, they’ve had a massive amount of variation on blue and red/maroon in the past 20-30 years.

My favourite 3 Saints kits have been the original Rank Xerox kit, the Denmark Hummel, and the Hummel stripes. Quite enjoy a deviation from stripes more than often.

Our away kits this year are bloody terrible though imo. Happy for yellow and blue there.

Most might, but I'm more a fan of the non stripey ones. Since Hummel did a few of those before, it would seem like a good time for a few more non stripes.

This one was nice from recent mock ups, for example.

That would absolutely be my favourite ever I reckon, and a nod to very early kit history.

Did someone not mention last year that this was supposed to be one of our kits during the Hummel contract?

Yeah, I think the Hummel designers released a video shortly after taking on our contract where they talked about their options with Saints, and made reference to the previous kit(s) they had under us including that one.

I agree 100% with this. The first kit is like a 1 star knock off training kit, and the wave effort is fucking awful, the most unsightly mess I can ever remember us turning out in. Green one sort of ok. And there was me thinking designs couldn't get worse after Under Armour were binned off.

The wave one is an absolute abomination. I didn’t like it when it was announced but I’ve grown to hate it more exponentially every time we’ve worn it.

After a mixture of initially the sash in 1885, then right and white quarters and next red and white halves we changed to stripes to go with the blue shorts and socks in 1896 and that was to become the traditional kit until the 50s. The kit doesn't overly bother me, not crazy on stripes but every other season seems OK to me but maybe time for a blast from the past.

Find it funny how some of the mock-ups that people put on here are invariably better than what we always seem to end up with. I hate yellow and blue so don't mind the away kits this year as a one off. Not been that keen on any of main shirts since the sash, but at the end of the day, I never buy them anyway. Have got a Xerox retro shirt which does the job.

Another vote for non stripes here, it’s nice to have something different and unique rather just looking like Sunderland, Stoke, Sheff United, Brentford etc which is why the sash was so great. That’s a nice one you’ve posted there.

Not that I’m over bothered not bought a football kit of years for myself just get kids one now every season.

I think the club should let the fans decide like they did once in the past with The Echo.

Have a competition to design next seasons kit, pick the best 3/5 and then let the fans vote on their favourite.

Which failed as the obsessed Pompey contingent all spotted it and voted for the worst one, some Monaco inspired abomination iirc.

Its been one of the worst selling home kits for a longtime and there has been awful supply line issues which hopefully have now been sorted.

I was expecting good things from Hummel and they need to redeem themselves to clearly get more sales.

I think the half red and white shirts is a good shout and would sell well.

Was saying the other day how with all the sh*te designs they've used in recent years, why they havent used the "blackburn" red and white. I want plain stripes but both this and the Denmark kit are beautiful

That Monaco kit came 2nd thankfully, the winner was one of our best ever kits I’d say. No surprise considering the fans chose it!!

Im a fan of mixing it up too, although this years effort is an abomination. A bit more red like the 99-01 shirt might have saved it a little.

If we do return to stripes I just hope we finally go back to a striped back too, as the plain backs look shit.

It's not a true Saintsweb kit thread until @hypochondriac starts disguising ITK information as innocent looking questions... ;)

Or when @Harold K Steptoe actually tells us what the kit is going to be.... :)

I'll see if I can find anything out. The two people who told me before have left the club though now so no promises!

I also like the non-stripe variations. Xerox, the sash, the Denmark and also the 70s admiral - not traditional stripes on that one either.

That said, the all/mostly red versions (Liverpool copy and mid 80s one … I think @86) are definite no’s for me.

Nothing wrong with stripes when done nicely, but there’s been some abominations and it doesn’t set us apart from half a dozen or so other sides.

As for away kits, I feel it’s a long time since we tried a navy/sky combination. Loved it in the 80s (Danny Wallace at Anfield?) but the pony effort was horrible. Could go either way 😂

May be in the minority but I love the 98/99 home shirt I bought a couple years ago and love all the Pony ones in general tbh.Long before this American became a fan mind lol, but still looking at our kit history, I like the look of these the most.

Must thank @Master Bates for giving us the opportunity to say we don't want stripes.

Half and half as above, or quarts.

Stripes work well on a deck chair, not a football kit.

Another non-stripe enthusiast here, they're so ubiquitous and boring, could literally badge it has half the clubs in English football and no-one could tell the difference

You might as well change that  thread title to 24/25 season.  Designs for next season should have been agreed months ago and are probably already in production.

And add me into the  "don't like stripes". I'd vote for a Feyenoord style half and half shirt.

This... although this is Saints we're talking about here.... given our recent track record of kit production / delivery issues.... it may still be on some middle-manager's to-do list.... ;)

Wasn't the 2004/5 third kit a navy/sky combination? Quite liked that. Would be happy to get another, although the current away is basically that combination. The Pony one was more turquoise, wasn't it? Jesus, sorry, I'm `arguing' about bloody colour tones now.

Personally, I really like the white away shirts. The Sash one in 20/21 (third kit) and the 19/20 third kit were pretty nice. I liked the 2012/13 all white with red pinstripe Umbro kit too.

Imagine being involved in our kits for next year (both at hummel and at saints), seeing this on a message board, and then instead turfing out the usual absolute garbage.

That kit was very nice but we barely saw it all season, the club insisted it would only be worn when none of the shirt, shorts and socks clashed with the other side, and Saints wouldn’t change shorts/socks colour to suit. As it was, due to it almost neve being used, we made it our FA Cup home shirt. Then went out at the firs time of trying.

I'd give season ticket holders a vote personally (and i say this even though i am no longer one myself - colour metaphor puel). ST holders are match going fans and the ones most likely to buy the kits. Also stops skates or casuals (that never attend / buy club merchandise) from voting.

I get the feeling the, if we did that, we’d get stripes more often than not. It seems to me to be a vocal minority on here that prefer a variance from stripes, when there’s actual polls been done on here stripes do seem to be quite popular.

Personally, I’d like to see a variation of all we’ve had before (and more) on a sort of informal rota. Stripes one year, halves the next, rank xerox, sash, add quarters in the mix and maybe even a solid red shirt that is not as shit as the Cortese kits and the dreadful centenary shirt.

I think we should do something with stripes every other year, and do something that is a nod to the past in the other year. What I don't like is the oddity that we seem to have every other year at the moment. This seasons isn't particularly nice, and the red with white sash never quite looked right to me from a couple of years ago.

Away should be yellow and blue when we have stripes, and something different in the alternate years.

If it were up to me next year would be Red and White stripes (red sleeves) black shorts and white socks. Yellow and blue away, maybe stripes, All black third with a red trim.

I usually get a glimpse of the new kits in late May / early June (6 weeks or so before the club announce them), so if I can I'll share some snippets, but not always easy for obvious reasons.
Hopefully wont be as disappointed as the first sighting of the Red with White Sash for 20/21. I didnt think we would see worse... until this seasons kits came along 👇

I thought this year's home was okay. Then someone put a mock up of it with side panels. That improved it so much, the original became even more meh.

The Aquaman away kit seemed okay in principle, but not in the flesh.

The third kit makes it easy to ignore third kits on principle.
