Brilliant performance.

We just HAVE to take these two results into Everton. I don't want to be doom and gloom on a great night but if we don't go and win at Goodison it's all irrelevant.

Goodson is a bogey ground for us but play like tonight and we can win there.

Take a bow Nathan. That is all we ask for - a strong press, 100% effort mixed in with grit, determination and no little skill. The second half was as good as the first because we held them at bay even when they brought out the big guns. In fact we still had the better chances. This must be the bench mark - if it is then mad Nate has proved me and a lot of people wrong. We need these type performances week in week out but it's given us some hope. Well played boys - absolutely immense.

Wow, what a great performance. That is as good a 90 minute performance that I can remember.

Fair fucking play to Nathan Jones! After Forest he was a dead man walking and getting so much stick, to get that performance from this team is wizardry!

I’m so happy my time of doubting Saints is over and only lasted a week or so. I’ve told my daughter that Saints are likely to be relegated and probably  won’t be in the premier league next season.

After that, I know a Nathan Jones team can put in a quality performance.

Hope is back!

How can we go from being so so shit against Forest to this in a short space of time. Chalk and cheese. Just brilliant. To a man. Couldn't see this coming a mile off.

Well done Saints and Jones.

Exactly this. From literally the worst part be ever seen us to one of the best. Thoroughly deserved, every single player at least an 8 out of 10, barely an error, great attitude.

I have no idea where that came from but am happy to give loads of credit for that to Nathan. Something’s clearly changed behind the scenes - whatever it is I’m delighted

Utterly unbelievable. Utterly faultless.

The only minor concern is Everton will arguably be fresher in the legs on Saturday but they sure as hell won’t be fresher in the mind.

If the nadir was Forest, this has has to be the first giant step to redemption. Redemption for Bazunu, redemption for Lyanco - who is so often the epitome of the slapstick defending that has plagued us and ultimately, redemption for Jones. God willing, of course. 😉

So proud of that performance. It actually felt nice cheering every player, regardless of how they’d let us all down over the past few months. It felt great seeing a goal or two again. It felt incredible dominating City and their talented team. A most unusual but welcome feeling.

It looked and felt like we’d finally found our cutting edge. That little bit of nasty. A fearless performance.

Romeo fukkin Done.

Lyanco, fuck me he’s got some bollocks. To play like he has tonight & Sat after his horrendous performance last week really shows character. That’s why Jones likes him.

Spot on

You’d hate your daughter to bring him home though

Fuck, that was confidence boosting. The Saints have got me hoping again after last week and it’s the hope the gets you!

Every single player was a 10/10 tonight and did their job expertly. Bazunu, Lyanco, KWP, DCC, Lavia, JWP, Djenepo and A. Armstrong were all at their best tonight. This squad does have the quality.

Whoever we get tonight (the draw will probably be done before I get this post sent), we’ve just knocked out the best team in the competition and the Liverpool semi-finals of the Puel era are up their with my best memories as a Saints fan. Let’s believe! A couple more positive signings, who you can already see have impacted the squad despite not featuring too much, or at all tonight and we can make 2023 a good one.

Clear message from JwP in the post-match thing.

New manager, new ideas, been working hard to be a difficult team and it is now showing.

Yes. Encouraging interview, that. He appears to have won them round.

That was a team fighting for their manager. The hunger and belief tonight was incredible. I'm still in shock from what I've just witnessed. Mara first goal, Djenepo first goal for 22 months, on another day we could've added a couple more. City 0 shots on target for the first time since 2018. The complete performance. I lost money betting on City tonight, I also. Bet on Palace at the weekend. I will also bet on an Everton win now! COYR!

I only managed to catch the second half. Saints aggressive, organised, clever and very hard working. So I was thrilled with that, never mind the 2 goal lead. We looked to catch them on the odd break too, but only when we had a fair bit of space, rather than getting carried away.

Quite a few bits of clever play, from Adams, Lyanco, KWP, and JWP too. Terrier Armstrong gets a special mention for harrying them, stopping them regrouping at the back on more than a few occasions.

Also good to see NJ not slump in tears, over egg it as per Luton vid.  🙂More importantly, lots of genuine smiles between players and boss at the end. Could be a fair bit of buy in there, hopefully.  JWP put in a real captain's performance.

I know others would take the drop with a trophy. I'm more about staying up, so it would be great to take this attitude into the next league games.

Lots of good post match comments from JWP and Gav too. Chuffed for the players. And for NJ. It's been a tough start for him. No doubt he believed in himself. Now he's shown what his team can do. Now the same standard can be applied to Everton. We can't show any fragility

I think we should play three at the back so that Lyanco can get forward when he wants to

His run up the wing and pass in for the goal was not the work of an ordinary centre back

He isn't a CB, is an absolute lunatic of an athlete that can play a bit of samba.

Outstanding performance,Lyanco immense

Maybe right back is his position. Ok, he'll make a few mistakes but he looks more suited. Also gives us extra height without playing 5 at the back. Plus, he is quite cool with the ball and doesn't panic too much. His role in the first goal was superb.  Also credit to the two goal scorers with a couple of beauties. Mara's finish was sublime.

Watch a few things from Orsic. A minute or two after coming on he was shouting and pointing to JWP and KWP about who to press. The guy has been talked up by dynamo fans as a leader. In his little time in the pitch we saw that already. Can only be a good thing for this team.

It's a great result and all but I made a pretty dumb promise pre-match. I'm the stadium announcer at Fareham Town (You know, where most people are portsmouth fans) and said I would wear a pompey shirt at our next home game if saints won.

We had to choose tonight to turn into 1970's Brazil lol!! 🤣
