It's a weird one, not complaining as he seems a good player and the word 'Intelligent' sticks out to me, but why does he want to come here??

I guess we've thrown a lot of $$ his way!

We certainly need a player with some intelligence in the final third though and have done for many years. This is only one part of the puzzle though, the goal scorer still remains the absolutely critical no-excuses addition.

Some of the vids i saw were reversed weirdly somehow. So i thought he same that he played on the right, but look at the back of the shirts, think the numbers were wrong way round…

Doest Jackson play on the right?

It’s done deliberately to circumnavigate anti-copyright software. I’m no expert but I’m assuming it compares YouTube videos to protected intellectual property and if they match they get taken down.

I hope he's got strong neck muscles. Gonna need them for watching the ball fly over his head for 90 minutes.

I am absolutely stunned that he wants to join us tbh, we're going down.

I’m fairly sure that even the poorest PL clubs can offer a lot more money than Dinamo Zagreb. I just hope he’s better than Moi, although being worse would be impressive in itself.

Hope is kindled.

Mislav Orsic is a class act. This will be the highest quality signing we've made in years.

It was highlighted in another thread, how in our other relegation dogfights of the past, we've always had a Matt Le Tiss, Parhars, Beattie or Lambert to single handedly fire us out of the deep shit we've found ourselves in, while this time we are bereft of such quality.

Well Orsic is our potential lifeline. A genuine matchwinner who can magic up something out of nothing.

Sure, we're gonna need more firepower up front too, but he's the creative spark that we are missing.

Now - if only he didn't have to play for Nathan Jones, we might just have a chance.

Good evening folks,

As a diehard Dinamo Zagreb fan since the 1970's, I thought I would sign up to give you guys some perspective on your latest signing.

For mine, he is arguably Dinamo's best-ever attacking footballer in European competitions. You have got your hands on an absolute gem of a footballer at an almost bargain-basement price.

And it's not just the eye-popping goal scoring exploits against top-calibre opposition (as 'niceandfriendly's' video links above will attest to, he doesn't do tap-ins a la Lineker) - it's the gut-busting runs in the 90th minute - in both directions - as Mislav is the anti-Ronaldo who will run just as hard towards his own goal to chase down and stop the opposing teams' right-back from creating a goal-scoring opportunity as he is in seeking that last-gasp winner when most of the other guys on the field are going at walking pace.

His unselfish, team-first attitude is infectious. The way he chases, pressures and harries centre-halves trying to play the ball out calmly is almost unnatural in what is a low-intensity, third-rate Croatian league. Suffice to say that he will continue in that fashion playing in the premier league.

There is zero ego with this guy. I think it is not a stretch to say that he is possibly the ultimate team player. And when you are in a relegation scrap - this is exactly the type of guy you need!

From a technical standpoint, he functions best as an outside left in a 4-3-3, but he will adapt to almost any system. It is however important to remember that he is a right-footed player, so don't expect a left-sided Beckham to regularly beat his man and get a conventional cross into the box. That said, he will always try to cut in onto his right foot and look for opportunities to assist his striker/s and goal-scoring mids - unless of course his first instinct tells him to launch one of his ballistic missiles into the far top corner. He is an intelligent footballer who rarely wastes an opportunity in the final third of the pitch to threaten the opponent's goal.

The question/s now is/are - will he fit into your current system and will the manager know how to get the best out of him? And, most importantly - can he help you avoid relegation? Unfortunately, only time will tell. I suspect you will need to sign another 1 or 2 players of similar quality in your weakest positions at a minimum. Even peak Messi would struggle to get your lot out of the bottom 3 on his own. That said, I am certain that this lad will make a positive difference.

I normally couldn't give a flying rat's clacker on how an ex-player performs once he has transferred from my club. This is a massive loss for us and it hurts.

But this guy is a special player - character wise first and foremost. And he has given us over 4 years of phenomenal service. He almost single-handedly took us to a UEFA Cup quarter final, where we were only narrowly beaten by the eventual winners Villareal. And yes - he scored against them too! So only a right royal cunt passing themselves off as a Dinamo fan would wish him anything lest than the very best.

And it is for that very reason that I - along with a substantial number of Dinamo Zagreb fans - will be keeping a close eye on Southampton and hoping that Mislav can help you avoid relegation. One thing is for certain - he will get it done or die trying!

Good luck Saints!

Thanks for the post and all the best from Australia

Pretty much. Broadcasters encode a signal in material that you can't see to let YouTube recognise copyright so changing the aspect or flipping it can scramble that and makes it harder for YouTube to automatically detect and remove. You'd also need to mess with the audio a bit if you wanted a good chance to fool it.

Given it's now nearly 24 hours since the formalities were reported to be done and dusted, can we read anything into why the club haven't announced this transfer yet? Pre-occupied with working out what to do with the managerial situation maybe?

Too busy doing all the marketing bollocks that no one cares about probably.

Hopefully they have a few bits of good news for us, this signing and Jones’ sacking

It’s weird isn’t it? Despite the perceived wisdom by many internet Saints fans that no manager or player worth their salt would ever join us because we are such a shit club, they still do. Go figure.

Nothing persuades like a hammer, or money. I suspect the latter may have have been the persuader on this occasion.

I’ve heard that Orsic was desperate to play alongside Adam Armstrong and under Nathan Jones. We still have immense clout.

Class act, really good player and just what we have needed for some time. Jones should be starstruck and the first team players as relieved as the fans.

Sure is. Looks a proper player, I'm just not sure where he fits into the Jones way of playing. I'd like a 433, which this lad would slot into nicely.
