Posted this yesterday but probably makes more sense to put it in here in case people are jumping on to find out about him.

"He scored against Chelsea and AC Milan in the CL this year. He scored against West Ham and twice against Sevilla the year before, and a hattrick against Spurs the year before that.

His Champions League record is 12 games, 6 goals and 1 assist.

His Europa League record is 30 games, 13 goals and 6 assists.

His Croatian League record is 132 games, 57 goals and 29 assists.

Adding a goal and two assists in limited minutes at the World Cup this year. Even if you (somewhat fairly) want to disregard his club record, the numbers above are still very impressive.

There's obviously red flags like you say when a player has just turned 30 and hasn't gone a level above Croatia in his career, but there's enough decent signs with his European record for him to be worth a punt in my eyes."

Good evening folks,

As a diehard Dinamo Zagreb fan since the 1970's, I thought I would sign up to give you guys some perspective on your latest signing.

For mine, he is arguably Dinamo's best-ever attacking footballer in European competitions. You have got your hands on an absolute gem of a footballer at an almost bargain-basement price.

And it's not just the eye-popping goal scoring exploits against top-calibre opposition (as 'niceandfriendly's' video links above will attest to, he doesn't do tap-ins a la Lineker) - it's the gut-busting runs in the 90th minute - in both directions - as Mislav is the anti-Ronaldo who will run just as hard towards his own goal to chase down and stop the opposing teams' right-back from creating a goal-scoring opportunity as he is in seeking that last-gasp winner when most of the other guys on the field are going at walking pace.

His unselfish, team-first attitude is infectious. The way he chases, pressures and harries centre-halves trying to play the ball out calmly is almost unnatural in what is a low-intensity, third-rate Croatian league. Suffice to say that he will continue in that fashion playing in the premier league.

There is zero ego with this guy. I think it is not a stretch to say that he is possibly the ultimate team player. And when you are in a relegation scrap - this is exactly the type of guy you need!

From a technical standpoint, he functions best as an outside left in a 4-3-3, but he will adapt to almost any system. It is however important to remember that he is a right-footed player, so don't expect a left-sided Beckham to regularly beat his man and get a conventional cross into the box. That said, he will always try to cut in onto his right foot and look for opportunities to assist his striker/s and goal-scoring mids - unless of course his first instinct tells him to launch one of his ballistic missiles into the far top corner. He is an intelligent footballer who rarely wastes an opportunity in the final third of the pitch to threaten the opponent's goal.

The question/s now is/are - will he fit into your current system and will the manager know how to get the best out of him? And, most importantly - can he help you avoid relegation? Unfortunately, only time will tell. I suspect you will need to sign another 1 or 2 players of similar quality in your weakest positions at a minimum. Even peak Messi would struggle to get your lot out of the bottom 3 on his own. That said, I am certain that this lad will make a positive difference.

I normally couldn't give a flying rat's clacker on how an ex-player performs once he has transferred from my club. This is a massive loss for us and it hurts.

But this guy is a special player - character wise first and foremost. And he has given us over 4 years of phenomenal service. He almost single-handedly took us to a UEFA Cup quarter final, where we were only narrowly beaten by the eventual winners Villareal. And yes - he scored against them too! So only a right royal cunt passing themselves off as a Dinamo fan would wish him anything lest than the very best.

And it is for that very reason that I - along with a substantial number of Dinamo Zagreb fans - will be keeping a close eye on Southampton and hoping that Mislav can help you avoid relegation. One thing is for certain - he will get it done or die trying!

Good luck Saints!

So will we see the end of this shite 5 at the back then?

For me, we have to go back to a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, or however you want to view it.

Orsic isn't a striker, he probably would play left of a front 3.  I wonder if he'll come in to play LWB like Edozie came on to play last night.

I'm positive about this bloke, but I fear he's just going to be watching the ball go over his head and struggle to get involved.  I hope he's on a sensible contract, as we know we're going to be playing championship football next season.

Hey! At least we will get to see him on the pitch sooner rather than later - because as "Jonesy has no idea" we don't need to have any of this getting him "conditioned into the Southampton way" cobblers RH use to spin out with a new signing, only to trot him out for his debut in the last 10 minutes 6 weeks later.

Ignore the red flags, they are irrelevant.

He is a humble guy who never chased the big bucks. Had opportunities to go to bigger European leagues and clubs but in his own words "There is no bigger club than Dinamo Zagreb" - he was our very own Matt LeTissier - a fiercely loyal local lad who never forgot where he came from.

Mark my words - He will bleed for the shirt!

Thanks for the details - really appreciate you taking the time. Looks like a very astute signing.

One thing I want to ask, on behalf of the whole forum: how attractive is his wife/girlfriend?

Gems - as in quality footballers who could help you stay up?

We have three other players who, IMO, would be premiership quality and may be better than what you already have:

Josip Misic - a 29 year old box-to-box mid who covers a lot of ground and has a good range of passing. Instrumental in our CL win over Chelsea.

Price would be around 4 million pounds

Josip Sutalo - a 22 year old centre-half who reads the game well and doesn't panic under pressure. Leipzig almost certain to sign him as a replacement for the departing former Dinamo Zagreb academy product Josko Gvardiol (arguably the best young centre-half on the planet).

Price would be about 15 million pounds.

Dominik Livakovic - a 27 year old keeper who is the Croatian NT keeper. Famously saved 4 penalties at the recent world cup, as well as making 4 point blank saves against Brazil in the 1/4 final.

Price would be about 10 million pounds.

Wouldn't mind the keeper and young centre back.

Wow, DinamoFan, thanks for all you have written. Seriously, I would put 30M on the table tonight and sign those other 3 you just mentioned immediately, especially the keeper, he is world class.

With Yoshida regularly in the stands of late, I'm dreaming of Yoshi bringing us 4 Japanese Samurai warriors, so with those 4 Croatian signings on top, we could have a side that may have the balls to escape relegation, after all.

Do it.

In order to sign for Southampton, he has to start saying "There is no bigger club than Goztepe".

Keep getting the digs in my friend despite the fact that he has been our outstanding player of late.

You're having a bath, he is a weak character with some nice touches but a shirker and not going to get in where he might get a knock. What is it one assist and no goals to add to about a hundred chicken outs.

The reference to more signings in the Romano tweet is interesting. We must be paying this guy an absolute wedge for him to sign. Maybe SR are going to throw a fuck tonne of money at the problem this month.

I take it back what i said about him playing on the right, according to that thread he's mainly off the left.

For once youtube highlights were not accurate.

Some of the vids i saw were reversed weirdly somehow. So i thought he same that he played on the right, but look at the back of the shirts, think the numbers were wrong way round…

Doest Jackson play on the right?
