lordswoodsaints Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 sorry boys but its not as easy as getting behind the team......there are a lot of things that need to be addressed before everybdy is 100% behind the team and us lot getting behind the team will not save us from relegation and financial ruin.
thefuriousb Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If it is that difficult to support the team for 90 minutes, then don't go. Save yourself the money.

saintjay77 Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 sorry boys but its not as easy as getting behind the team......there are a lot of things that need to be addressed before everybdy is 100% behind the team and us lot getting behind the team will not save us from relegation and financial ruin. and this sums up why things are so much worse for saints. What Le tiss said is obvious to everyone except a large portion of saints fans who think that by protesting and having a go at everyone things will get better because the people at the top will just give up and walk out. fact is we are no closer changing things at the top by putting our angry faces on as we are by chipping together to buy some shares. i cant see how us all getting behind the team no matter what will suddenly make us world beaters but im sure it will do the team better than us all singing swing lowe and fighting between ourselves. for the time being the best thing we can do IMO is support the team and at least try to do our bit. If someone with 20mil turns up and seriously trys to buy the club, then is the time to turn against those running the club and get us sold as quick as possible.
Wade Garrett Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If it is that difficult to support the team for 90 minutes, then don't go. Save yourself the money. Support the team, support the board? I'll save my money.
saintjay77 Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Sounds like the board have twisted MLT's and Franny's arm a bit... of course they have why is it any bit of bad news/rumour is 100% fact and should be believed without question yet when someone speaks out without slating those in charge its all a PR exercise or Lowe and the board have twisted someones arm? why cant quotes be taken as facts from these people?
Channon's Sideburns Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 of course they have why is it any bit of bad news/rumour is 100% fact and should be believed without question yet when someone speaks out without slating those in charge its all a PR exercise or Lowe and the board have twisted someones arm? why cant quotes be taken as facts from these people? Le Tiss....yes taken as fact. Franny...well he is officially employed by the club on match days right? Stop using club legends as mouthpieces Rupert. Perhaps Franny's been promised a coaching spot as well if he behaves and toes the party line. Such a shame that ex-players are being USED.

Because, we all know that MLT has been saying something quite different publicly on Sky, thats why. He has clearly been "threatened" in some way, as was David Armstrong (I don't mean with violence, but a gentle reminder that he is still an employee of the plc (like Franny) I believe. Told to toe the line. Unless you are completely nieve I cannot believe that you actually think this is a genuine quote from either of the guys.

OMG you couldnt make this up could you? Both are quotes in the Echo. Not on the OS. And Franny goes on about how he thinks the club should have got in someone from elsewhere instead of from within so if the Club are using him then I guess they will want him in for a telling off ASAP.

You don't think that Franny's status in the Ambassador's Club has anything to do with it then? Killer is being USED - was he offered this in August? NO. Franny is being USED - oooh let's send out a message through a legend and watch the lunatic fringe lap it up... Lowe and Wilde really do underestimate the intelligence of the fans. Matty is not employed or utilised in any way I believe by the club - so at least you can say he is impartial. Do they ask someone like Jimmy Case, who has played with youngsters? Do they ask someone like Dave Armstrong? Do they ****! Because the responses won't necessarily mean they support the regime.
Snowballs2 Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 It's all very well to state getting behind the team won't save us from relegation, but how is anyone going to prove that unless we actually do get behind the team? I'll keep saying it, with full support behind the team, the protests against Lowe and the board will mean a hell of a lot MORE. It removes all excuses from them, no possibility of blaming a lack of support, no moans about fans reducing revenue for the club etc. We should always support the team, then we'll see the best possible results from the manager/board etc. If it's still not good enough, then protest properly. If you see a protest from fans who are normally all at the games and behind their team, it stands out. If you see a protest from a half empty stadium from fans who've been annoyed during games for ages, it loses any impact at all. We get behind the team but not behind the Board of directors especially worthless Wilde and Lowe
Supersubpuckett Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 On the one hand we complain about only winning one game out of 14 at home, then we encourage the voicing of bad feeling and a negative atmosphere at St. Marys.. ... any connection?

And yet the support of these players has been strong this season, in fact much, much more patient than in the past. Staying behind them (however correct that may be) will NOT make them better players. It's down to the management to put out a side with fight, determination and talent.

MLT hasnt said that he thinks everything is great and Rupes knows what he is doing!!!! He has said that right now the fans need to concentrate on getting behind the team. He says he knows mistakes have been made at board level but right now there is bugger all that can be done and support is what is needed so we can hope to try to avoid relegation and administration again. if all you read is MLT is now Rupes butt buddie so cant be trusted unless he is slating the club then you are the one that is nieve my friend. read what he says, not what you want or think it might or could say.

Not suggesting Franny's integrity at all, but if your boss asked you if you thought he was doing the right thing, you'd choose your words carefully wouldn't you? BTW, the appointment of Svensson is a cynical PR ploy to appease the Thermos holding fans in the Kingsland. Like anything's going to change.
eelpie Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Sounds like the board have twisted MLT's and Franny's arm a bit... That the fans must support the team is a no-brainer. Daft for anyone to suggest otherwise. We are fed up with Lowe's disastrous return (and previous regime's ****-ups) but we ALL want the team to play its way out of relegation. Of course regime change is required. Results are required desperately too. Now. I will be joining the march on Saturday, but will NOT be demonstrating during the match. I will be giving my wholehearted support to the team, even when we are 2-0 down. Because I believe in 'never say die'. I will be demonstrating after the match. Let's not confuse priorities.

Again I will respond - there has been total support in 12 of the 14 games only Forest and Doncaster has seen anything like a reaction against the board, manager or players. Do you think there would of been any protests had we won more or a managerial tactical decision that worked and not from planet Burley? As stated in another post the luvvies will always use the fans or class war when they are trying to deflect the blame.

Apart from the financial impact of course, which is the deadliest weapon in the fans' arsenal. We are long past the stage of mini demonstrations and changes of management to appoint subordinates from within won't wash for most either. The stage has already been reached that even the Lowe apologists have given up on him and the bizarre experiment. The mood is now clearly to get rid of Lowe and Wilde and the simplest way to achieve that is the mass boycott. Its time has come.

As for Killer and the coaching staff, Id like to address that. Killer is obviously on a retainer so use him.He has shown the utmost courage to carry on trying to get himself fit. That steel and ability to be a leader may be what we need to instil just a bit into our young players. Wotte or Rl may just see/admire that and so offer him that position, I dont see why he cannot help us and wehy it is then criticised. They make it perfectly clear that he TORE his Achilles. What does the OS say on the Injuries page? Hmmm...nothing.
SFC Forever Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 It is not the players fault that they can't cope solely. They have been thrown into the fire with no obvious leader to show them the way. We all want our club to be run as though it had ambition and a little bit of savvy. Unfortunately we have a board with no ideas other than bad ones. Again that is not down to the players but to the people who have put them there. I will be protesting along with others, but that will not stop me roaring the lads on every time I see them. I will also be praying for a miracle as I do so. We could win three or four games on the trot and I will still want the abnoxious one out along with his closest buddies. We have the weakest side I have seen play for us in over 50 years and for that he is responsible as are those that gave him the power.

Hmmm...nothing.I dont know what relevance killer tearing his achilles has to do with it.The OS is lazy in many ways and its main job is to get business, cynical I know but it is the case. Killer is a strong man and will not take fools gladly.I think he is to us now what Joe Jordan is to HR's backroom staff(it is interesting he was the one who was not brought here and look what happened.I doubt we would have been quite as easy to lose 2 goal leads with him waiting in the dressing room). He instils a real toughness and we have needed that for a long time, in fact have not really had it since the Alehouse days.

The relevance of Killer's injury is that the severity of it was never put across. A tweak on the Achilles is sooooo different to a torn one. Just don't see why it is so hush-hush over here (OS,Echo etc) but back in Sweden it is mentioned freely. I agree with Killer's character - let's just hope he tells that Van Der Waals guy to FO.
West End Saint Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I think the fans have been behind the team I have been to all the home games and a few away and think the support has been excellent only at the Donny game did it turn ugly and even then it was not directed at the team with only 1 win at home the support has been good. I do agree that protest and chants against the board should be before & after the game even at half time if you want when the lads are playing get behind them they need all the support they can get. Also if you want change get behind the protest and show your support I will be there Lowe Out UTS
Fan The Flames Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 What MLT said is a standard responce, there is nothing in it. To claim so decreases the credibility of the anti lowe camp. The tide is with us lets not let silly accusations change that.
Secret Site Agent Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 It's nice to know that they have got Frannys age right. Considering we went to the same school and were in the same year, I have been a little ****ed over the years when he has been upto two years younger than me!!!!

The tide is with us lets not let silly accusations change that. Exactly, Some of the accusations make the anti lowe camp look like they are using acts of desperation to get there point accross, when just having a go and protesting on the facts would be so much easier. MLT and Franny have both said there thoughts and neither go anyway near condoning or supporting the board so accusing them of having there arm twisted is ridiculas IMO.

The atmosphere at the ground does make a difference, the fans get jittery when we only lead by a goal and that transmitds to the players (or the other way around) and we let in a goal. The Sheff utd game the fans were brilliant and that helped us save us from relegation. I beleive if there is unrest on the terraces the players may become distracted and then that is a disadvantage to us as the home side.

SaintRobbie Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 MATT Le Tissier has urged Saints fans to unite behind the team in the wake of Jan Poortvliet’s departure as head coach. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4075072.Le_Tissier_urges_Saints_fans_to_unite_behind_team/ SAINTS legend Francis Benali described Jan Poortvliet’s departure as a “real shame” – and admitted he would have liked it if an “outsider” had been brought in to replace him. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4075080.Poortvliet_s_departure_a_real_shame__says_Benali/ TOTALLY different tone from MLT from all of the comments he has made on SSN for the past 2 weeks. He's right to say get behind the team... but those comments dont reflect what he's been saying. Fans will ignore this plea anyway. As soon as we lose the next game we'll be back on track with regards to protests et al. I'm afraid the bubble has already burst.

To be honest we will miss you, but fair play. We want you to promise to come on here and tell us how you're not a Saints supporter.
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4075072.Le_Tissier_urges_Saints_fans_to_unite_behind_team/ http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4073677.Le_Tissier_surprised_by_Wotte_appointment/ Compare and contrast the tone. Anyone smell a fishy? Err - there is barely any difference in "tone" content or anything from those sets of quotes. How the fu c k is MLT blandly saying "get behind the team" evidence that he has been "got at" by the evil Lowe machine. Both sets of quotes are just rent-a-quote punditry and both represent what MLT thinks. Because frankly, what he thinks is what most normal people think. We don't want Wotte, but we're stuck with him now. Ditto Lowe. Nevertheless, not being relegated would be quite nice. What do you think MLT is going to say? "let's all burn down the stadium on Saturday" "I wish I could rip Lowe's throat out and sh it down his throat, and then make his wife eat my excrement from her dead husband's neck with a spoon made from Wotte's collarbone" Some of you people are just fu c king deluded.

Bad day at the office? Now, that would be a sound bite!!
Channon's Sideburns Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I don't think that anyone pointed the finger saying that MLT had been 'got at'. The point was made whether Franny has been placed into an impossible situation, given his 'ambassadorial' role at StMarys on Matchday. He's not silly, so to openly criticise the regime would be daft. The point made about Svensson before everyone got all 'drama-queenie' was that his new role suddenly happens when the fans are planning demonstrations...hmmmm
