Everyone was beating them around that time, they were in woeful form.

Within the next few weeks, they’d lost at Home to Burnley, Brighton, Everton & Fulham, as well as losing to Leicester, Chelsea & Man C. They were in a run of winning 3 out of 12. Despite all those defeats only one manager thought the achievement so great he started crying though.

Man you do talk some utter shit. Like not even just shit opinions that at least can be subjective, but just stuff that's completely wrong. Their 12 league games before us was 6 wins, 6 draws and 0 losses. They had suffered a single league loss all season. Even accounting for cups they had won more games than 3 in their last 12 so you just made that up. They were literally top of the table when we beat them! And you consider that woeful? They weren't as good as the previous season, but they were still a top top side.  Who cares what happened to them next and them losing games, it's not like Ralph had a crystal ball.

And besides, more my point is who gives up on a manager at the moment we beat Liverpool AND are sitting 7th in the league?!

Take a look at the side that beat Liverpool that day. It's a fucking miracle we didn't get sucked into a relegation battle that season, let alone be in and around the top half.

So as we beat the defending champions, taking us up to 7th in the league in January, with a first team containing the likes of Stephens, Diallo, Djenepo and Walcott, that the thing that went through your mind was 'he's lost me'?

I genuinely just feel a little sad for you in all honesty.

In JANUARY ffs, it is laughable, and then went on to provide us with about 1 win in 10. He beat the defending champions, yes its the type of thing ive been used to over the years following Saints, beat the top club and then to go on to lose to Norwich, or any other of the strugglers

3 of those players are still here btw that NJ has to work with.

Yeah mate January. How many time over the last 30 years have we been that high round that time of year? Especially coming off two seasons where we could easily go down, it was fantastic. It's a shame you couldn't enjoy it. And yeah we fell off a cliff as we were heavily overpunching and then went through one of the worst injury crisis i've ever seen. A few games later we were forced to play a defence of Valery, Vokins, Stephens and Bednarek! Like you can only do so much with that as a manager.

Not sure what your point is about NJ having those same 3 players to work. Considering you seem to think there are green shoots of recovery whilst Ralph got more of a tune out of those players.

I recall in our relegation season circa 1973 that we were top of the league at one stage. Seen us up top on many occasions, and yes I did enjoy being top but I didnt enjoy all the other disappointments during his tenure. I wasnt a big critic of Ralph but also dont wish for him to seem like some super manager. He is behind Poch and Koeman in recent times. I am supporting NJ as he is the man who may save us, keep kicking him just to prove the point that you dont rate him, and hence in a funny way want him to fail just so you are right. All self harming, Ralph is history, he got us to an FA cup semi final and then blew the chance, but he was not all bad, but we are where we are due to his performance this season, not due to beating Liverpool a couple of seasons back

Man, you and duckie just literally keep making things up. Saying Adkins came from the division below, saying Liverpool were in woeful form, or saying that people like me want him to fail to be right. Actually many people wanted Ralph to fail to be proven right, and that stems right back to that Liverpool game. Some are absolutely desperate for JWP to fail and were so quick to jump on him as soon as him form dipped. But I have already written on this thread that I will yell out "I was wrong"  from the rooftops if Jones keeps up. I will be delighted to be wrong. Because unlike some, I would rather be happy and wrong, than unhappy and right.

Mate, I think Ralph crying was embarrassing (although he said himself it had more to do with him and his wife having COVID not too long before it), but posting their form AFTER that game says nothing about the form they were in coming INTO the game.

The 5 games before us they played us were Fulham, Palace, Spurs, West Brom & Newcastle, winning only 2 of them. They were on the slide, a slide that ended up with 3 wins in 12.

Mate, have you ever, in your life, just said "Sorry, I got it wrong". To paraphrase somebody else "you should try being wrong sometime, you might actually learn something"

Why would a know-it-all who's never got anything wrong, especially on an internet football forum, ever need to apologise for anything? Lord D is the font of all knowledge. Keep up FFS!

The win meant a lot to Ralph because of his history with Klopp, not because of Liverpool’s form. I thought it was great that a Saints win meant so much to him.

Weird how some people have problems with men showing emotion.

Surely he has to go - awful tactics, team selections and the players play like they are complete strangers.

What a damp squib of a way to lose a semi-final.

This is a pathetic team, manager, owners and club.

No wonder Academy players want out (allegedly)

With all due respect, just for this cup semi final team he can fk right off. Ralph laboured for years to somehow keep us up and competitive, gets booted, and there is no way he deserves the money he's had this window just to put out this utter dogshit in a cup semi final. Basically threw a cup semi final game before kick off.

3-0 down in a two legged cup semi final before he brings on the first teamers. Joke.

Just how much more evidence does he need that a back 3/5 doesn't fucking work with the personnel we have?

Every time we have tried it so far - and I do mean every time - he has had to end up ditching it mid-game because we're getting carved open.

So instead of learning that lesson, he goes and fucking does it again. Sets us up so badly that Newcastle cruise into a 2-0 (3-0) lead chucks away a decent chance of a cup final.

Absolute fucking clown.

I honestly don't see what benefit any new signings will bring if we continue to set up as we do and fail to do the basics, especially when defending.

Money being spunked away whilst this Muppet is in charge

My thoughts. He can't get a tune out of Orsic. Alcaraz is anonymous in this formation. He drops DCC for Bednarek. Giving this bloke half decent players is like giving a McDonald's cook proper ingredients to have a play around and expecting a Michelin star quality meal.

This result is on Jones. No one else.

Anyone who’s watched us knows we cannot play a back 3, yet he continues to persist with it.

He seemingly refuses to play players in their best position because he’s desperate to shoehorn Lyanco into the squad, because he thinks he’s best at suiting his shite hoofball.

Getting a win here was unlikely, but we didn’t even give ourselves a chance.

As others have said, we’re wasting money with Jones still being the manager, utterly clueless.

I’ll be interested to hear what Jones has to say about his formation choice here. Especially since we’ve actually looked alright second half. First half hour we justblooked lost all over the pitch, some of the players have to hold their hands up but so does the manager. Will he?

Newcastle were always favourites to go through but we could have given them a better game of it if we hadn't started with the lineup and formation that we did. Was like starting the game with the players' bootlaces tied together FFS.

Enough now. This is all on you Nathan. You are out of your depth and taking us down to the Championship.

SR - please have the cojones to admit you've made a mistake and the Jones experiment was a failure. Stick with him and it will only end one way.
