Ok, so he's gone. Good.

A couple of observations:

Walking straight down the tunnel after a defeat, leaving your players on the pitch [especially when you're a manager who gives it large in front of the fans after a win] speaks to extreme lack of class, grace and respect. This has been increasingly obvious for many weeks now. Given the club had been following him for 18 months before giving him the job, how confident should we be that this board can choose managers?

The club "statement" on the OS doesn't even contain the usual cliches ["thanks Nathan for his efforts", "best wishes for the future"]. This suggests either that he was just as as defensive and self-obsessed behind closed doors as he was in pressers, or that the board have just a little class as Jones does.

Does our board need a manager who will stand up to them?

I’m assuming he knew that it was because he knew his time was up.

On a slightly different note, I’ve seen a few people mention JWPs free kicks yesterday (couldn’t bring myself to watch anything). What happened with them?

Edit: ignore me there’s a thread on them and I hadn’t noticed 🙄

Ali Dia ?......

Correction Except for the Swiss lad who demanded a Prem. start and got sent off in the first minute v. Man Utd and helped up lose 0-9.

as for " the former manager " : Seemingly the 93% got their way and NJ has actually gone, now let's stop gloating about it and

concentrate on finding someone who can help us avoid relegation, and then pay him a million bonus - if he succeeds.

Oh yes, forgot about him. Jukovic ??

It's weird we don't have forum experts going on and on about how brilliant Jankewitz is these days, because it was non bloody stop on here at one point.

Come on lads, surely he's still definitely brilliant and still definitely a disgrace that Ralph wasn't picking him?

Think that lad had a rapid bump down to planet earth. He was loaned out to St Gallen last year, started just five times and averaged 30 minutes over 16 appearances. This year he has been punted down to the Challenge League with Thun... started nine times, been hooked in every one of them and averaged 45 minutes over 14 appearances. Not bad for a lad demanding Premier League football at 18 year old.

Also about the Torino man:

"Jurić is a self-described metalhead, with a passion for death metal music in particular. In the 2010 interview with the Italian edition of Rolling Stone, he cited Napalm Death, Obituary, Carcass, Death as some of his favorite artists"

He'd love the Joiners then. Loads of gigs down there with metal bands whose logos are unreadable.

Would be funny to see our manager flying around a mosh pit.

Quite the opposite going from a manager who sings hymns to a metalhead screaming death and destruction. Let’s hope his managerial skills are the opposite too.

From Twitter this morning…

Once again, all staff at Southampton received an email from Martin Semmens this morning.

Informed them of decision to part ways with Jones & co, which was not easy but “one we believe is in the best interests of the club”.

Adds “now we must all pull together”

Knew it was over once whistle went.

Confirmed to him verbally shortly afterwards, formally on Sunday

Wants to get back in game & rebuild reputation/career. Will use this to drive himself on.

Happy to drop down to League 1 or even 2 if championship realistically attainable.

Guess that's why he disappeared down the tunnel without looking back

That was poor and shows his lack of class. Whatever he may have suspected he should have shaken his players' hands at the end of the game. Even some slight gesture of apology toeard sthe fans would not have hurt him. he was too busy thinking about himself.

Yep, just shows him up for what he is.... needs to review his arsehole like attitude or he will continue to piss other clubs fans off

Fair enough:

I am certain he will be in a job by the start of next season. For good or bad, he has the enthusiasm to go for it

Jesus. Who would choose a career in football management. Imagine having your professional career ripped to pieces non stop in public for all your family and friends to read.

I'm sure all the millions he's getting for being an abject failure will soften the blow.

Correct CB Fry ....Those  " pro-Jankewitz fans " you mentioned also failed to notice that he'd picked up a red and a handful of yellow cards

earlier that season whilst playing in the Academy sides.   Not a good recommendation, but I don't fault Ralph for giving him the chance.

He had the opportunity... to put his talent where his mouth was....and it lasted about 1½ minutes.

He returned to Switzerland ..to the ironically-named club.. " Young Boys ",  having discovered that " the man's game " offers bigger challenges.

Last I saw he wasn't even making the bench for their league games.

Ashley Williams has always come across as pretty level-headed and honest IMO.

Alongside what we have witnessed and heard recently, I have no difficulty believing every word of this.

Honestly, how on earth did we end up with this bloke? It never has and never will make any logical sense. It has all but relegated us, all just feels so unnecessary. we had to change the manager but we didn’t need to take such a crazy risk, when all things pointed to it being a disaster from day 1. We are a laughing stock in English football at the moment because of this guy.

That's quite telling to read, it's just identical to what we just saw. It's impossible to see how players could have any respect for this bloke.

He reeks of someone with imposter syndrome, he knows he's out of his depth but has no idea how to fit in. So by default goes back to his Luton days as that’s all he knows.

I wish him all the best.  Even more so if he takes Moi and Yanny B to his new club.

To be fair, and with the greatest respect, they could do a very good job in a lower division.

Hugely revealing these insights and I suspect there could be more in time. Given the evidence…the stats shall we say…it’s clear to me that the team’s performance was adversely affected by (a) Jones insecurity and lack of tactical know-how and (b) a legacy (or even on-going) pressure from the club to play in a certain way (hence his comments about compromising and doing it his way). Just goes to show that any Prem Manager is sandwiched between demanding players, the Board and the fans so the CV has to indicate balls of steel and a clear identity, neither of which Jones had.

Despite his dismal time here I hope he’s able to regain some self-respect and mental health. Having a shit load of money doesn’t necessarily mean you’re happy. One things for sure, you’ll not be seeing NJ near the upper tier of English football any time soon.

It's no surprise to see this content, he set it all up himself by being a tool in the media. He gave them all of this content for free.

I hope we never experience another 3 months like this again, he has simply dragged our name through the circus. I hope whoever appointed him (Rasmus) has eaten a load of humble pie over the last few days as he absolutley fucked up to record levels.

I wonder why the club failed to give him no more than a 15 word send off? I know his tenure was not good but to be so blunt is a surprise

It was in perfect ratio to the number of days he was appointed.

What else could they say? They're not going to put out the generic ''we'd like to thank Jones for his efforts'', because quite frankly his 'efforts' took us backwards at the rate of nots. It's an experience best forgotten about and I imagine the club are also trying to do that.

I want to test myself on every level, and that’s nothing against Welsh women 😭

Seriously, I'd missed that one.

Plus the PE teacher settling down with a nice Welsh girl thing, what must his wife think of these quotes?

I'd not be surprised if she's fucked off by now.

I think they were being generous. I would’ve given him a 3 word send off.

“This is a club that has been slowly stripped for parts, that has gradually lost most of its expertise on the pitch and much of the expertise off it. This, perhaps, is how it ends up hiring a new manager, sacking him after 14 games and then considering Jesse Marsch of LinkedIn as his replacement.”

True that.

And “Jesse Marsch of LinkedIn”. You’ve got to laugh.
