The squad is good enough to stay up.

It just needs a high calibre of manager to see that Lyanco and Bednarek should be nowhere near the first team, alongside AMN, and dare I say it Aribo too.

Back to basics, and with the right money any manager would take this job for three months for a payday. Money talks.

All eyes are on SR and specifically Rasmus Ankersen now - he needs to get this right.

Thought AMN was excellent yesterday. A manager who picks the best players for their best positions would be a refreshing change

A left field suggestion that knows the championship, Rooney?

I remember he did a decent job at Derby but he's currently failing spectacularly with DC United despite his attempts to invigorate his players by talking about his tiny todger. His name is big though so there's that.

Does this read to anyone else as though we already have a replacement lined up?

"First Team Lead Coach Rubén Sellés will take charge of training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea."

If we didn't, you'd expect this to read that Selles is taking on duties on an interim basis, which would leave it open ended for him to take any matches necessary until a replacement.

He's a club employee who was not part of Jones' posse, who arguably got sidelined when Jones came in.

Was he sidelined by Ralph as well?

Whoever was in his present position would have got the gig for the next few days, it’s nothing to do with his body of work at the club as he’s the constant during this shit show of a season. If none of the pony we’ve been served up is anything to do with him, it begs the question WTF is he doing here. Is he the bib & cones man or does he have input into our set up, coaching and tactics. He may get an audition for the permanent job, let’s hope he’s better at it than he has been as “lead coach” or whatever noddy name they’re giving is present position.

Finally.

SR must have realised that not even training ground activities, and supposed player buy in (despite the fights, arguments and dropping players) was enough.

Like Ralph, they could have pulled the plug on this at any point. Their reliance on datasets, as a way of accepting risk, despite the evidence and common sense is baffling.

Their decision making has probably cost us our position in this league. Despite all the investment.

It didn't take much for the fans of NJ's previous clubs to all point out the same traits. That the interviews showed the same things. That situations repeated themselves. The feedback from theose clubs was the same.  When it was falling apart, we'd get similar responses. All available, yet never part of our recruitment process. A massive gap.

Top marks for saying aggressive and front footed. Top marks for introspection. A few off for having little grasp of how to run a club above a certain level.

If Rasmus was really chasing NJ for such a long time, he should not be allowed to make the next decision based on the same, clearly flawed, process.

He'll have run it during the week. "Wow, we have the fittest, bestest manager statistically in Europe here. One who has learned from not one, but two, disastrous spells. Let's...oh, I should have deleted NJ before I pressed the start button."

Gerard favourite in the betting, ahead of…Dean Smith. Bruce not on list on Paddy Power

Rather have Chris Wilder over Dean Smith if we're scraping the barrel. Did better in his Prem stint.

I wouldn't be against Gerrard building the team next season. Did well at Rangers even if his Villa stint was a bust.

Who else is there? Peter Bosz?

Not sure Ankersen should be given the remit of picking the next manager. Selecting Jones has to be one of the biggest Board cock ups of all time.

Agree but wouldn't trust any of the other clowns at the club so we're between a rock and a hard place.

There’ll be a lot more Saturday afternoons next season.

And no VAR. If it wasn't for the financial impact and loss of prestige for the city I'd be quite pleased to leave the Premier league

No more VAR

No more away fans in home end

No more £80 Kingsland Premium prices

Right, basics.

On paper this is a very good squad, and a good manager WILL get us out of this, these players have proved on occasions that they can do it.

SR can and should learn from this.

You try and go cheap in the Premier League it’ll only cost you more.

They now need to pay out to make it right.

The sad truth is that SR have no experience or clue as to how to run a Premier League football club - they are as out of their depth as Jones was.

Didn’t he know Dean Smith from Brentford?

whoever comes in it needs someone with kudos to manage the young squad, not another gamble on inexperience because they look good on. Spreadsheet

Alongside Ali Dia as the shortest PL appearance?

Ali Dia ?......

Correction Except for the Swiss lad who demanded a Prem. start and got sent off in the first minute v. Man Utd and helped up lose 0-9.

as for " the former manager " : Seemingly the 93% got their way and NJ has actually gone, now let's stop gloating about it and

concentrate on finding someone who can help us avoid relegation, and then pay him a million bonus - if he succeeds.

A good friend of mine goes to every Reading game, they offer £20 away tickets to any team who agree to reciprocal arrangement, would be great if Saints did something similar (is there still Saints voice to raise with club?)

I'm slightly confused by Selles if I'm honest, by all accounts he was incredibly sought after when we brought him in. He did great things at FC Kobenhaven and is spoken about highly over there.

But you can't hide away from the fact that he has been a core coaching component of our worst ever PL season, so I'm pretty torn. Selles was a club appointment (probably Rasmus again) rather than Ralph/Jones, so it makes sense he stays on as an interim. It's also hard to judge the impact a 'coach' has, on both positive and negative angles. They will have to follow the orders of the 'manager', so they wouldn't be able to do things on their own autonomy even if they wanted to.

Future wise though I don't know - I think we need to give a new manager the remit to mould his own staff, if he wants to get rid of any of the existing (Sparkes/Selles/Martin) then let them do that. I don't think we have the evidence to make him a 'must have' for any new manager, should they want to change it.

Sorry, more thinking out loud...

Could we envisage a scenario whereby we come to an 'mutually beneficial' arrangement with Chelsea and Potter?

Let's assume Chelsea are thinking of sacking Potter in the not too distant future anyway. And let's assume Potter has realised he's not the right person for Chelsea but Potter doesn't want to blot his record by resigning or getting sacked, and Chelsea would rather avoid sacking him as it would highlight their error in appointing him.

So a win-win for everyone could be an approach by Southampton and a "reluctant" Chelsea let him go...

No? Thought not. Next!

How much compensation would we want?
