Saints have just posted this online, good little watch if you’ve got a spare 10 minutes. Good to see Antti looking well, he comes across really modest too.

There’s a decent one with Beattie too.

Certainly my favourite GK in the time I've followed Saints (1960's).

I know some will shout this down but on their performances for us - as opposed to throughout their career - I'd pick Niemi over Shilton  every time.

"What do you say when people say you should never get beaten at the near post?"

"It's not true, it's something people used to say in the 70's and 80's"

😂😂😂

Can we finally put that myth to bed now please, and can everyone who has ever written that on here please go back and edit all their posts and let me know when they have finished? Thank you.

That's how we used to be built, top quality goalkeeper, strong reliable defence, the rest would pretty much look after itself then.  How we could learn something from those days.

Good to see.  You don't really see the club engaging a great deal with players from times gone by.  Its a shame as there are probably some quite interesting stories to tell.

Always thought he was overrated .. id have preferred Maik Taylor at the start and Niemi taking over earlier if my memory is correct.

Was he? I was always of the impression that Jones was a solid, if unspectacular, Premier League keeper.

I surprised Kevin Miller didn’t get the nod ahead of him 😂

I'd say he was Saints best ever goalkeeper. Although his afternoon at fratton park in April 2005 was not his finest hour (90 minutes).

He was brilliant, but not quite in the league of Shilton for me. Flowers was similar standard too imo.

Not convinced it was despite what has been said. World class acting if it was. More likely he made himself look a bit stupid so claimed it was a joke. Either way Niemi is easily the best keeper saints have had in my lifetime supporting. Remember singing we've got the best keeper in the world and actually meaning it. He was unbelievable. Best save Ive ever seen has to go to Paul Jones at old Trafford. Was a double save can't reamber who but the second shot was behind him

The world’s been a worser place since I learned that call was staged.

Niemi actually admits it in his latest interview with the OS.

You’re spot on though - Niemi is my favourite Saints goalie.

Only let down was his performance in that 4-1 at fratton. The whole team bottled it. I remember they stopped a load of us getting in and by time I got my seat I saw us going 2-0 down. If memory serves me right it was the same game crouch had the phantom injury warming up because he didn't have the bollocks to play. How we needed a benali or a Terry hurlock in that game
