I can understand the reasoning behind this rearrangement yet 4 other EFL Cup ties scheduled for the Wednesday appear to be still going ahead as planned. And I believe there’s also a nurses strike set for the Tuesday so that could pose its own similar issues.

I can make Tuesday or Wednesday so little upheaval for me, but a right ballsache for those travelling.

Not all ambulance workers are taking action on Wednesday, it depends on the ambulance trust, 9 are affected in total. Newcastle v Bournemouth has also been switched and Man U are in talks about the same. I suspect Charlton is not affected, it looks like London is not an affected Trust. I too thought that changing to Tuesday would bring its own problems but the nurses action does not affect life threatening services, which I would imagine means A&E, so is probably not such an issue. I believe that professional football matches are not allowed to take place without ambulance cover in situ (I could be wrong) so preponing the match was a given.

With less than a week to go, only around 15,000 sold so far. Should get a late squirt on tickets but looking like a lower attendance to what I thought we'd see.

Corner blocks are closed down the Chapel, Lincoln have sold 1,500.

as someone who is unsold of going, seeing the 15k is making my want to go less. I went to Sheffield Wednesday which must have been about 20k and the attendance was less of the regulars we’d see, few hundred id say at the top of the itchen north, it was fun but only about 3 people singing so we looked like a bunch of dinlos singing woolston ferry and knees up mother brown to no one.

Think there will be a big walk up, once the world cup is over focus will turn back to saints.

Agreed. I think they’ll be at least 15,000, at a push maybe 20,000.

If the club actually reduced the prices and got bums on seats etc, we could’ve close to sold it out.
What a welcome that would’ve been for Jones and potentially a lift to the team, and I think he’ll play a largely regular side.

TBF mine was £12 (and I think it is £15 now, £20 on the day) so don't think they can go much further south of that.  More likely the problem is it's 4 days before Christmas, we've often had lower attendances at the last home game before Xmas.

When did the Forest game move?

Around mid October I think. It was when they confirmed Xmas tv games, Forest NYE game moved so ours had to move to allow them enough recovery time apparently

The booking fee totally bugs the shit out of me

The booking fee has literally put me off buying tickets. Cheap ticket price, OK ill take the wife and 2 kids for £30 but then that will be £6 booking fee!

You have a ticket price, if it doesn't include all your costs that's your problem not mine.

Drives me mad as well, book 6 tickets, print them myself so save them the cost of posting,  one online transaction that gets hit with a £9 booking fee , leaves the customer feeling ripped off

Just pulled the trigger on a couple tickets which were booked on-line and downloaded to the phone. What’s the booking fee for…to pay me for doing their donkey work?!?!

Expecting a convincing win, but it won’t be…we know that. Hoping to see the start of NJ’s influence on playing style at the very least and some Saints goals, otherwise what’s the point?!

The World Cup final has got me really looking forward to going to a footy game again.

It will be the same level of quality, won't it...

Good chance of seeing another penalty shoot out

We beat Bournemouth 2-0 in a closed friendly apparently. Good. We may now win the premier league.

Sounds like Walcott and Mara scored. If so, perhaps suggests it was for the players who are unlikely to start the upcoming games, to give them minutes - unless most players got 45mins but not sure how useful that really is.

We have another kind fixture tomorrow, which is perfect for Jones to get started

Shame Lincoln's game at Cheltenham was called off at the weekend giving them a bit of extra rest

It's Lincoln we're playing, mid table Div 1 not Man City !!! Are we that desperate for a bit of inspiration.

Then again, ummm yes, you could be right. 🙄

based off sheffield wednesday, we’ll be in with a right game. I still think we’ll hold firm though and hopefully turn them over with a bit of style 3-0

Or....

Glad Lincoln's game was called off at the weekend so that they're not as 'match sharp' as they might otherwise have been.... ;)

It could be that or it could be that with a fresh start under Jones we may see a completely different line up as first XI 🤞. Let's face it Walcott/Mara can hardly do worse than Armstrong/Adams. By this account they seem to do rather better!

In a trip down memory lane Lincoln in the league cup was one of my first ever night games. It was  in about 1987 or 88, i dont remember much about the game except Saints won 3-1, Lincoln had, for a smallish club, quite a large and vocal away following IIRC two of the three pens in the Archers road end when it was a terrace and Lincoln had a goalkeeper called Mark Wallington who said thank you to the crowd behind the goal every time they threw it back onto the pitch after it and gone into the Milton Road end terrace.

Oh they can do worse. Walcott does do much worse. I'm completely positive it was a run out for the second string and that the first XI with Adams up front will be taking on Lincoln.

Just purchased my ticket to be collected from st marys, so heres hoping we get our moneysworth without the need for extra time and dreaded penalties like last time.

Technically we'd get more for our money if it goes to extra time and penalties. However like you I hope we can comfortably win in normal time
