Just the kind of strike Adams is good at - one where he has no time to think where the keeper is...

Lets be honest - we all knew he was going to miss that...

Hilarious.  But based on this result....WE ARE ONE OF THE TOP EIGHT TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!

Top eight of the Sunday park league maybe

The Adams one was far worse than the Edozie one. What the fuck was he doing. Twice he had a clear shot at goal with the keeper out the way and he kept going.

That must be a contender for the worst winning performance of all time.

Well we might have got lucky but we certainly weren't any better than Lincoln... How far we have fallen

Let’s not be silly, we were a lot better than them. It doesn’t stop us being rubbish though.

He was trying to help build Edozie's confidence. "Anyone can do it"

I've never laughed as much in a stadium as I did in the last few minutes there. Hahahaha, fucking comedy genius.

I am impressed you have a signal mate. Must be the missing 10k

So genuine question - anyone out there seen enough tonight to think we can beat a premier league side anytime soon?

Not a chance

Not confident, no. It seems like we’re back to exactly where we were at the start of the season. We may grind out a dirty win or two against the lesser lights but we’ll get torn to pieces by anyone half decent.

Hopefully we won't be seeing 3 at the back for a while now.  Calamities all over the place but better once the formation changed.

Maitland-Niles' errors could easily have cost us more than just 1 goal tonight.

Horrible feeling we're starting boxing day with a back 5.

That would be horribly counterintuitive- not least because Jones abandoned that system 60 odd minutes in.

We badly need to sign a good striker, and we cannot be playing that back 5 with those passes across the back and long ball bollocks... it offers no serious penetration at premier league level. Teams will just set up and wait for us to give the ball away... and one loose pass across the back/middle with those 3 CB's and we'll have a far better attack that ours through onto Bazunu. Stuff of nightmares - and we can all see it happening I reckon. Work to do!

Fucking disgrace from Adams, putting his own merits first rather than his teams, i get that hat tricks dont come along often, especially for us, but ffs, 1st game back, just get the win and move on

It certainly would be.

Saints fans are embarrassing. Silent yet again.

One bloke got chucked out the Northam after we scored, not sure if it was him who let the flare off or not.

Celebrating a goal against a League 1 team in a half empty stadium with a flare is a new high for fan culture.

I’m fearful we’ve wasted a month. In the summer we had a pre season of mostly playing 3CBs, it obviously wasn’t working but we carried it through to the regular season before ditching it almost immediately. I just hope we haven’t spent the past month preparing to play 3 at the back again, only to realise it’s a terrible solution for this bunch and they can’t play it.

I’ve seen literally nothing from Jones tonight to suggest that he’s brought in some bright, new ideas. It’s exactly as we were on the opening day of the season. Can only hope he’s seen enough to fuck off the 3 at the back and get on with working out how to sort out our misfiring central midfield, and have more scoring options than Che Adams.

I would love to see the 'Finishing practice routines document' at Staplewood.  One assumes that it is a very flimsy 1 pager.

On the upside, I couldn’t be bothered to go, so here I am, sitting comfortably in my reclining chair, contemplating a drink of something alcoholic before retiring to bed. Thereby avoiding a half hour walk to the car and a traffic jam on Millbrook road. You see, there is always a positive that can be taken.

I spent the first 20 minutes asking myself who was the L1 side.

We looked like a side that hadn't played for 6 weeks, and all credit to Lincoln who must feel cheated that there was no VAR.

Edozie looked great until he missed that sitter, but Adams must be kicking himself to miss a hat-trick.

Nathan Jones has a lot of work to do  -even before the window opens.

A sellout

Attendances are helped by supporters who go to matches rather than those who sit on the internet posting sarcastic comments.

That was pretty shit.

That final chance for Adams summed him up, that is why he will never be a consistent goal scorer no matter how much we wish him to be. We need better to partner him if we want to score goals.

Still, at least we won. But we looked terrible to be honest.

Nathan needs to get on the blower tonight and arrange for the Archbishop to be at Staplewood tomorrow morning to perform an emergency exorcism - ‘may the power of  finishing compel you!’

50% win percentage

Win every game at home

No goals conceded by opposition players

scored twice as many as conceded

carved them open second half and could have scored 6

All done without it being his squad

Having read through the bbc thread and on here, seems like a very worrying performance. Concede to Brighton early and the game will be over by half time. Do not see us staying up unless a miracle happens. Difficult to see where the next league win will come from. I said 2 - 1 to a mate, but was really hoping for a lot better against a league 1 side.
