Anyone know if we’ve got any friendlies lined up for the break?

There were rumours when Ralph was here of warm weather training camp (Miami) and couple of games, not heard any more .

West Ham have Cambridge and Fulham away scheduled, noticed Leeds playing Real Sociedad, but there are B team games as well during the world Cup with opportunities to give a few a run out like we did recently

I'm sure we will have some friendlies. Going to be plenty of clubs with a load of players kicking about doing nothing.

Could arrange a Nathan Jones derby with Luton.

The championship and league one carry on as normal in December I think so unless Luton can fit us in midweek I expect we'll either play another Premier league opponent or Spanish top flight. Would quite like a trip to Kenilworth Road though.

There's not really any Championship games until mid December, at least that's what it says when I look on Flashscore.

Who would take relegation and winning this cup?

Depends what happens thereafter in your hypothetical scenario.... If it leads to a spiraling decline which sees us us languishing in League One or Two for years/decades to come then, no thanks, but if it's just a temporary blip and we bounce straight back to the Premier League then, yeah, sure, cup win every time....

I didn't realise not winning the cup this season gave us perpetual immunity from any relegation ever again. Great news 👍👍👍

How the mighty have fallen. Remember the days when we didn’t want to win the cup in case it negatively affected our champions league hopes.

NJ said in his press conference at Anfield, that we have some friendliest lined up and a trip away.

What's the friendliest friendly we've ever played? Probably one of those random swiss/Austrian teams we used to beat about 18-0 in pre-seasons under Wotte/Poortvleit imo.

I reckon there might be some deviants on here who would take relegation with no silver lining at all.

For me, the number one reason to ensure survival for next season is to ensure a decent chance of cup progression - reaching a final and knowing you can actually win it outright on merit as opposed to sheer luck. The higher we can finish up the league, the better our chances. Honourable mention to Poch and Koeman for trashing this belief, but of course it depends a lot on the team's attitude as well. You can't realistically expect to challenge for silverware in a lower division, but as a top 10 PL side, there can be cause for optimism of carrying good form into the cups.

Sounds familiar; where have I seen that before?

That's potentially a nice load of games. Will be like being back in League 1 again when we seemed to play twice a week every week.

Beating Lincoln would see us having 7 games in 23 days. Something to look forward to after the World Cup.

What are Wigan up to nowadays?

Still basking in the glory of a famous FA Cup win that everyone remembers.

Winning the cup and getting relegated doesn't mean that you have to end up in League 1. It would be possible to win the cup, get relegated and then get promoted again. That would be a lot of fun.

If you can offer the cup with relegation and then immediate promotion, I'm with @trousers and take it. Cheers!

This might be my first home match in a long while. Is it possible to print out tickets these days? On recent experience with Royal Mail I'm starting to doubt the post will arrive in time.

Last cup game I went to I just downloaded the ticket to my phone and scanned from there it at the turnstile.

I ordered Friday afternoon and they turned up this morning.

Lincoln have sold 1,300 of their 1,600 allocation so far, they had a discounted deal on for a travel/ticket combo which has ended so sales may slow a bit now. Home tickets aren't exactly flying off the shelf, bit surprised as first game back and Jones' introduction. Probably be a last minute rush, particularly if England continue to do well.

Top stuff from Lincoln there, midweek before Christmas,  long awkward journey,  hopefully they bring the 1600.

In the last round Sheff Wed had 2400 and we had just over 20k in total attendance, reckon might be a bit higher for this one with it being school holidays and Jones first game as usual for this sort of game loads will be in few days running up to the game as they know it won't sell out.

Bit mad Saints will have had a 6 week break whereas in the same time Lincoln have played regularly, not sure if that helps us or them

Game rescheduled to the Tuesday!!  - FFS!!!

Absolute joke. Loads of Lincoln have travel and hotels booked already (as does a mate of mine , time off work etc already sorted)

Other games still seem to be on for the Wednesday, ridiculous

I don't believe it. The week before Christmas is when people are trying to arrange get togethers with friends and family. The club are not helping.

BBC originally showed this match as being played on Tuesday so I arranged a Wednesday "Christmas curry". When the match was announced on the Wednesday I managed to get my mates to move our get together to the Tuesday. Now we are back to a match on the Tuesday.

It's a shambles!!

I can understand the reasoning behind this rearrangement yet 4 other EFL Cup ties scheduled for the Wednesday appear to be still going ahead as planned. And I believe there’s also a nurses strike set for the Tuesday so that could pose its own similar issues.

I can make Tuesday or Wednesday so little upheaval for me, but a right ballsache for those travelling.

Looks like Newcastle have now change their tie with Bournemouth from Wed to Tues, not been updated yet on the BBC fixtures.

So those travelling around the country on the Tuesday now will be OK for an ambulance turning up in the unfortunate event of a traffic accident - but no nurses at the hospital once they get there!
