Apart from Queen Victoria, other famous people who married their cousins include; Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Edgar Allen Poe and H.G. Wells. As far as I know, none of them were Muslims.

Also Queen Elizabeth 2nd married her second cousin, once removed.

Sibling shaggers, the lot of them eh hypo! 🫣

Hi soggy I ignore for a moment that you've again ignored my question despite hammering nutty Nic for days on end because he wouldn't answer yours. Have you got any examples from anyone born in the last 100 years? Ideally in the last thirty would be better when morals were more closely aligned with those of today. The thing is all the examples you've cited lived when child labour was still legal and it was fine to send them out to work but presumably you wouldn't consider that fine nowadays.

HG Wells seems appropriate for SOG to reference. He's very much The Invisible Man when challenged here, and shares delusions with the main character. If only he had a Time Machine to go back and reflect before deciding on his views. Sadly, that probably wouldn't help. What we've had will be just like The Shape of Things to Come.

Why all of this detailed interest in cousin-shagging? Did I miss a memo?

I thought world war, poverty, global warming and imminent relegation might feature a bit more on here, but no, a handful of you seem very keen on exploring the concept of family-fiddling...

Why comment on it if it’s so very boring?

Inbreeding is what did for the Egyptian pharaohs. They thought that they were keeping their bloodline pure.

They were warned by all their advisors, but were in de-nile. 🙂

It came up because an MP is trying to get a law passed to ban it and some posters on here seem hellbent on defending the practice.

The defence seems to be little more than it’s alright as people did it 100s of years ago, then the other line is why does it bother you so much. Both pretty odd lines of reasoning as the same people often triumphantly proclaim how great it is society has moved on so much. They’re also the first to lambast others for not being as concerned as they are about things that bother them (which is pretty much very fashionable cause on the woke league)

Just seen the Telegraph front page on the BBC, it's a classic.

Badenoch claims that taxing farmers won't raise much, while maintaining the stance that thousands will be bankrupted.

Greta Thunberg is described as a sinister activist, Sadiq Khan is destroying London, no.10 is talking to terrorists, the Green Belt is being concreted over and there's a lady, yes a lady, set to host MotD....

Every box ticked.

To be fair (perhaps), it is possible for policies that don't raise "much" overall (relative to GDP) to affect people significantly at an individual level...

It is possible, in some cases, but there will not be mass bankruptcies in farming - it's a front page of shallow propaganda attacking all of their usual targets.

They know their audience.

I don't think thousands will be bankrupted, many affected will just sell their farms and not do farming anymore. It's what happens once farms have been sold that is a concern.

Comical how much the Tories care about farmers over other occupations. Any idea why that is?

And guess we should just give up on taxes as it’s been categorically proven that no tax rise whatsoever generates revenue. All contrary to when I studied economics but there you go

This is not a tax on revenue but a confiscation of assets.  There's a big difference. It's not sustainable.

Another day, another classic Daily Telegraph scoop on the front page.

A nice big photo of Father Christmas showing his support for Nigel Farage.

Are we allowed to call Telegraph readers a bunch of simpletons who are easily-led?

Reform using Santa to attract the next generation of voters. Clever.  Although given Santa is white, elderly man who mistreats elves it is no surprise he's anti immigration

I would imagine PETA aren't happy with him over-working the reindeer either, having to drag an over-laden cart all the way round the World in one night.
