So, the Ecuadorian player's knee was offside at the point he received the ball, while a Qatari defender was goalside and within a couple of meters of him.

Qatar are absolutely awful, hope this finishes 5-0.

Surely they'll become the first home nation ever to lose the opening game.

Anyone scouting this Qatari keeper?

He can't be any worse than McCarthy at the near post*, can he...?

Hoping for double figures personally, want to see an absolute farce of a score.

Sorry to have to spell it out for you but I meant in the actual games.

You don't, I was being facetious.

Great header, but just how bad are Qatar?? Shouldn't be anywhere near this level, this is going to be a big score I think.

Can't wait until Netherlands play them. Could be double figures.

Yeah, I have just seen this still and it does look like it was a well spotted offside. Don’t think the reply on the TV showed the situation very well.

Still a shit show. Whole thing is corrupt.

God is clearly routing for Equador, if their celebrations are anything to go by. All other nations are f**ked!

Bodes well for us under Nathan Jones 🙂

I wonder what the deal is when Ecuador score, everyone gathers in a circle to thank God, then it’s disallowed by VAR. do they have to start praying to someone else?

Where was he when the ball was played in though? Doesn't matter where he's stood in that photo.

They obviously didn't pray hard enough. Or one of them was thinking about sexy nuns instead of giving thanks.

1934, Angelo Schiavio against the USA for Italy.

I hope you knew that without the help of the internet?

It's the sort of shit Steve Grant would know. Maybe it was one of the questions Lighthouse had to answer to become a mod.

I think there are two players together one heads it and the others leg is offside. It’s a pretty confusing situation. At first I thought the player highlighted on the telly was the one who touched the ball and was being show as offside!

It’s not from the free kick, but from when the bloke challenging the keeper headed the ball. The blokes knee  was offside at that point & he then headed the ball for the bloke to do the scissor kick thing.
