It is, but I think there's a case for more countries to be involved, although the 3 teams per group is a daft idea.

The new club world cup is a strange one and not sure how that can work alongside the champions league, domestic leagues, and international football. I don't think it'll be long before the big boys all feck off and do their own thing 🤞🙏🤞

I don’t know about the World Cup. For me enough teams are involved already. All that will happen is you’ll end up with more weaker nations and there will be more totally one sided games that it becomes a bit farcical in the early rounds.

as for the world club cup, just another money making idea, clubs are already moaning they play too much, so something will have to give. Hopefully it’ll be domestic football and they do one.

Why? He’s done an excellent job?

Not really.  About par and certainly does not warrant the fawning all over him that is going on - more so when you look at his results against the elite teams..

Something like 24 games against teams who were in the top 10 at the time of the fixture, with 4 wins....

We all knew how the France game was going to go, and we know we will be plucky in defeat at the Euros.

Noting the Euros are in Germany, are the do-good brigade going to be highlighting their recent history for the month?

Southgate's mediocrity needs to be measured against the achievements of Croatia with a population of around 4 million

He’s clearly got the best record since Sir Alf, but I’m not sure he’s the man to finally get us over the line.

Croatia were a decent side in ‘18 but the game was there to be won.He seemed to lose control of the game and was reactive rather than proactive.

The big miss was the Euro final, home game against Italy who aren’t t that good (missed out on WC), again his in game management was questionable.

France are a good side, bit unlucky going out to them, a real 50/50 game.

Would a top top manager have made the difference in those games (particularly the final), I’d say they would have. Whether we can get a top top manager in, is the question.

Would Saints fans rather have a bloke from Luton, or the England manager is questionable. It really shouldn’t be.

Couldn’t decide until the anthems, but I am now rooting for France.

If you were listening on radio I can see your point.

But having seen Macron in the stands, with an off the scale look of smugness, it has to be the Argies for me ( as bitter as it is to say).

Be good to bring off the bench for Saints at the end of his career. Wonder if he’d be interested?

I hope he does end it in a proper league, not some Saudi league for half a million a week or whatever. Some player.

France were not that good against England, crap against Morocco....

Just highlights a great chance Southgate let slip (again)

England always play as if scared of the opposition, and are too slow and predictable in the build up.

Don’t think that’s just a Southgate issue. It’s been the same for years.
