2nd half was everything the 1st half wasn't, started the 2nd half pressing high, moving the ball quick and look what happens.

Rashford had a shocker first half, but different player 2nd half. Really like Bellingham, not sure I'd swap him for another player - for 19 years old he's on a different level.

We're good to watch when the attack press and move it quickly, they're capable of doing it so hopefully we see more of it.

Senegal will pose much more of a threat than a truly dreadful Welsh, but if we play it quick then I'd hope we'll have too much for them.

By anybody credible who was reporting on the story at the time.

Any perhaps next time you can be a bit less rude and not blow your fuse over an imaginary scenario you’ve made up. This wasn’t some £12m deal where we’ve quibbled over his petrol allowance and Leeds have come in and pinched him from under our nose. Had he been interested, it would have taken a fee nearly double our transfer record to get it done.

F**k of Bellend!

Apparently in the next WC in the 3 team groups there will be no draws , ie decided by penalty shootout if all square .

Mrs JBS mentioned that she heard that on the radio today, and the general consensus from people commenting was why fiddle about with something that has worked for years.

Clearly pandering to the US market.
Just making sure the spectator experience is a fulfilling one and they see a result on the day.

Surprised by this. FIFA have short memories. The last time they bollocksed around with group games was 1982 when it was dreadful.

Given the many societal crimes in the USA, how are we going to fix them at the next world cup?

Maybe Fiona Bruce can host an episode of QT over there?  That will get us all having a conversation about issues of the day

Four years time. Perhaps Trump will be back in the White House. That’d make it entertaining

Much better second half against very limited opponents. Rashford improved but I won't get carried away just yet and would be delighted to see him shine against the teams with better quality. Still think we need to play more on the front foot, drive forward quicker and with more purpose and link defence to attack in a fluent way rather than there being such big gaps between the players. Bellingham was excellent today and we'll need him to maintain that level. Hard to say what our expectations should be as we've not been tested much in the group games. It just feels as though Southgate's natural inclination to keep things tight will be our undoing but let's see. So far so good.

Given the systemic racism in the US of A maybe they will extend the Rooney rule to squads, where every squad has to have a percentage of BAME players. Goals scored by openly gay players count as double to show our support for them and all meat and alcohol banned from the competition so it doesn’t offend our vegan or Muslim visiting fans.

I read something suggesting it'll likely be 12 groups of 4 with 32 going through, rather than the proposed 16 groups of 3. Groups of 3 has all sorts of risk of collusion.

Anyone not watching USA v Iran missed Josh Sergeant hurdling a tackle before landing with one foot on the ball, falling arse over tit and getting subbed off injured.

Was an absolute classic moment, wish I could find a clip of it.

Coming out of the group with 7 points, 9 goals and two clean sheets is a very decent start. Wales and Iran were both very poor sides though. We look some much better when we play at a higher tempo. Rashford was poor in the first half IMO, touch was well off and kept giving it away. Improved in the second half his first goal was decent but second was straight at the keeper. Lot of hype about him as expected but he won’t get away with that against a better team than wales.

Men against boys. Wales stunk the tournament out, yet we’ll now have a load of old pony, how proud they should be and how great their supporters are.

Not often I find myself agreeing with you but the post-match interviews and analysis seemed to consist solely of variations of how proud Wales should feel.  Fuck me, no wonder they failed miserably with that attitude.  No point qualifying for tournaments if they're just going to turn up and not have a go.  Even at half time, with the heat map showing no Welsh touches in our area, Williams was banging on about how fine he was with that - I though they needed a win?

Sounds like a farce, hardly the best teams from each continent which is what it should be. They’ll be a load of whipping boys who get thrashed. Plus it’ll be so spread out location wise there really isn’t any need to spread it out over three huge countries.

We look so much better when we play on the front foot and let teams worry about us. I worry that now that we are in the knockout stage that Southgate will revert to type and be more cautious when it is clear we have enough firepower to scare anyone in this competition. We also look far less potent when we sit back more. There is no stand out team so far. Several look good going forward but also look to be vulnerable at the back. I didn’t fancy our chances at the start but now think that it quite an open competition and we are in with a decent shout depending on how Southgate approaches the knock out rounds.

Yep, groups of 3 will ruin it. The group stages at the moment are decent, and nearly always something to play for on each group going into the last games. Won't get that with a 3. None of the knockout games will be outside the US, but even then, bit of a schlep from way New York to LA, and possibly back again for the next match.

The same Rashford who has been missing chances galore for United this season? I wouldnt get carried away with his performance, especially with Danny Ward giving him a helping hand for both goals

Missed a good chance tonight as well. I thought he was poor first half decent second half but went off with 20 minutes left so in truth had a good 25 minute spell against a very poor team. Let’s not get carried away.
