Harsh disallowed goal. Keeper was already diving the wrong way.

Yep - zero percent chance he was saving that. Always a tough one to call though, he was definitely in line of sight.

Think the keepers reaction says it all. He didn't protest about it.

Desperately trying to look on the brightside…….

Atleast we know they were looking at quality and tried to move in to sign him (Gapko).
On the downside…bugger.

We may have well have bid for Messi rather than Gakpo in the Summer.

Exactly the same percentage chance of that deal being completed.

You can’t sign players who are 100% not interested in joining.

Exactly this. It seems like both us and Leeds had fees agreed but Gakpo realised he could get a massive move by waiting and playing the World Cup.

But twats will blame Semmens because what, he didn't force him to sign at gunpoint?

Why would playing in the most competitive league in the world jeopardise his chances?

It was sound advice - what's the point of the upheaval and moving to a new team and new league just to play for a shitty lower end club like us or Leeds.

He will go somewhere good in the summer.

Need to drop a forward into the midfield. Can't  Southgate see?

Yep. Mount offering nothing up top, not even a press, and not deep enough to help midfield.

Aso couldn't tell where the wonder kid Bellingham is playing.

Yep, looks lost. Rice has far too much to do.

USA faded second half v Wales but have been by far the better side as they were in the first half in that game. Mount has the talent but never looks the part in an England shirt as he does for Chelsea. Can see why Saints were interested in McKennie and also why they didn’t get him. Exactly what we needed (and still do). Better to sign a handful of overpriced City youngsters that we don’t need.

Would like to see Grealish and/or Foden for Mount at HT, get some movement off of Kane. At the moment, there might as well be an ocean between him and the midfield. Maguire has provided more of a threat than them and they aren’t screening the defence either. Sterling off as well, keep Saka on.

That was better, Shaw getting in behind, just behind Saka. Mount nearly scores - probably saved him from the HT hook. Sterling should be off at HT.

I think you just have to give credit to USA here. Tactically, they've got it spot on. They've kept a good shape, pressed effectively, closed off the passing lanes and made it very difficult for England to play through or around them.

They burned themselves out in the second half against Wales though. I wonder if part of our gameplan involves letting them do that again and then going at them later on.

Shouldn't Southgate be clever enough to deal with USA tactics and change the way we are playing? It's what good coaches do. He's watched and done nothing. They are pressing so we need more in midfield so there is an outball for the defence - do that and they won't be so eager to press but at the moment they are unopposed.

Gakpo currently now worth 50m and rising

If we really did skimp out on him over a couple of million then that really is disappointing!

Semmens !! 😡

Gutting, isn't it. Penny pinching.

Erm… no. By most credible accounts he had no intention of coming to us or Leeds, even when we offered to blow our own transfer record out of the water with a £30m plus bid.

England look tired/lazy. Only Harry Maguire is saving them at the moment. If England get through this, the rest of the players owe him a massive debt. Southgate needs to make the subs now, before it's too late.

Classic Southgate. Bench full of options and he just leaves it as is

The formation is wrong not the players. Bring on subs without changing the formation and it'll be more of the same. Southgate clueless.

You’d think a manager that loves to play turgid park the bus football would understand how to break down a team that’s playing turgid park the bus football.

What is the point in leaving Shaw and Trippier sat deep so we can fail to find any space in the attacking third and turn round and pass the ball back to them to try and fail again?

Get them forward, it’s not rocket science.
