Salisu has given away a penalty, let Felix run past him and not tracked and played Leao onside

you can take the boy out of Southampton…

It was the other dude in the middle playing Leao onside.

The penalty was a terrible decision. He's been pretty unlucky I think.

The pen was a dive, it was Rahman that fucked up for Felix's goal, and what else was Salisu meant to do for the third when the Ghana defence was overrun? It would've been mad for him to push up while everyone else was sprinting backwards.

It was once rumoured that Spurs were going to give us £15 million plus Harry Kane for Jay Rodriguez...Does that count?

Ha. So in an alternate universe,  Harry Kane was a Saint for a year and a half before we sold him to Liverpool in 2015.

So glad Peter Walton is on hand to liven up proceedings with  constantly exciting delivery of his views on referee decisions.

Seriously ITV are employing him now to agree with whatever decision was made on the pitch?

2-1 :(

I think that was what we wanted for Jay Rodriguez and they told us to do one. Rather than that was their offer. Les would have bitten their hand off for that.

The financial aspect maybe wrong but the notion that they were ready to throw Kane in was all over the place. There were tons of rumours about Kane coming to the likes of us, Norwich and even Bournemouth and then he just burst onto the scene there.

ITV appeal to the sort of people who watch shit like Good Morning Britain and Saturday night celebrity bollocks so they love the common narrative.

I find it amusing when you get the situation that neither the BBC or ITV acknowledge the other's coverage. Yesterday ITV covered the teatime kick off, and as they got to the end of the program the presenter said that Belgium would soon be kicking off against Canada and viewers could catch up with that match just after midnight. ( As opposed to simply turning over to BBC1 ).

With regard to the penalty this evening, Ronaldo did what Ronaldo has done all his career - fell over and conned the ref. Admittedly he is very good at it, but VAR should have overturned it.

I don’t think they were pal, IIRC lots of clubs wanted to sign him but spurs didn’t want to sell.

Anyway, I think that Ghana goal is the most excited I've been about one in the World Cup so far.

Oh come on. GMB is worth watching for the fact that it’s got the ever sexy Suzannah Reed as lead, backed up nicely by the fabulous Charlotte hawkins, Laura Tobin on weather, Ranvir is a tidy piece and I’ve even have naughty thoughts about Kate Garroway. Plus the male presenters are generally cocks. Richard Madeley, Ed Balls, Alistair Campbell, Adil Ray. It’s the perfect combination of terrible TV, bellend presenters with staged arguments but enough early morning eye candy to make you take one extra squirt of after shave before you leave the house in the morning.

I can't remember the last time I put the TV on during the day unless there's some live sport to watch. Wouldn't even enter my head to watch breakfast TV.

Maybe I should give it a go before splashing on the brut tomorrow.

I’ve just seen ITV are making a wagatha Christie 2 part drama in a way only ITV, can’t wait!

Bring up the World Cup thread expecting people to be waxing lyrical over the sort of World Cup goal that typifies Brazil but no …

Might as well have turned on the breakfast TV instead

You’d have found out love island winners are heading to Verona for a new series if you had, plus the Welsh can wear their rainbow hats today.

Seriously? That’s amazing. Veronas beautiful so I can’t wait to see it show cased in all it’s glory.

I assume that’s the plan for the show?

As for the other thing … no way am I going there, with you of all people

Anyway, bit of a good goal that, wasn’t it?

I thought Salisu played very poorly against Portugal and was responsible for at least two of their goals. Same mistakes that he makes for Saints. In the cool and cruel light of day, how good is he really?

He's about our level. The occasional quality game sprinkled in among mostly average-poor performances. Very Saintsy.

BBC pundits and commentators desperate to convince us that a draw is no good to Wales. Ignoring the fact that they'd be on two points instead of one and could qualify if they get another draw against England and other results go their way.

Based on these two performances they do need a win today, as they won't get a draw against England...

If England have already qualified Wales could definitely get a point against them. To say a draw is "no good to Wales" today is just stupid, yet they keep repeating it as if they'd be going out if they don't beat Iran.

Wales have done as well as expected given the players in their team. Too many League 1 and Championship level players, and a couple of old fellas who can't run anymore.

Sensible reality check. Bit of a joke that they are in the World Cup but we've said that about many teams who's only reason for being there is to fulfil FIFA's misguided notion of wider inclusivity.

What are you talking about? Wales and every team at the WC qualified fair and square.

If we really did skimp out on him over a couple of million then that really is disappointing!

Not sure we’ll ever now the full story (I think there was a bit of cold feet by Gakpo though), but what could have been. I want to believe the club had an agreement with the team and the player just decided at the 11th hour he wanted to stay.

but yeah, that was our narrow window. He is Top 6(7) bound now.

Got to believe we would be in the top half if he was on our side.

Didn’t van Gaal advise him to stay put at the time in order not to jeopardise his chances of playing in the WC? Apparently he decided to stay and it wasn’t down to money.

Why would playing in the most competitive league in the world jeopardise his chances?
