The Bale love-in is vomit inducing hype.

I have a question, sorry if it’s been covered before. Is the new policy on injury time? 9 minutes this half, 4 in the first. Seems like a lot  It would be a very welcome change if so.

Tyldesley has always been one of the worst for that sort of tripe. Even for him tonight has been a new low of sensationalist drivel

He sounds almost in tears at the final whistle after they got a scabby draw against the USA

Well, we should beat those two, so really now its just about planning who we need to rest to keep fresh for the semis and the final.

Not with Bale in the side. “There’s nobody like him”, he “writes his own script” and he “scores when he wants”. Going to be tough.

We turned the sound off after the penalty ! Interesting angle on the penalty showing the defender going for the ball before Bale was even in shot .....

It was a refreshing change to see a Southgate team playing attacking football and scoring goals, even if it was against a very poor opposition. He still managed to betray his real feelings by starting his interview by talking about the goals conceded. You won 6-2 Gareth, nobody gives a shit about a last minute penalty. Keep out scoring the opposition, win the cup and nobody will give a toss that Maguire lost his man in the box.
Wales will clearly play out of their skins against us because that will be the equivalent to their final, but we are so much better than them or the USA and I hope that he doesn’t revert to type. We should sail through this group. We look so much better when we are on the front foot.

Glad to see that penalty being given, the problem is that they’re not given every time in every game. I don’t care if we get six penalties per game, they’d soon learn.

The Argentinian diving before that was comical though. Twice in the opening minutes Argentinian players dived screaming to the ground when there was no contact whatsoever from the bemused Saudi players and on both occasions the ref gave a free-kick. If England come up against them, their cheating is going to be as big a game changer as Messi.

There are more Qataris supporting Argentina today against their bitter rivals Saudi Arabia than there were supporting Qatar in their opening game, although Latin Americans, especially the Mexicans, seem to have travelled to Qatar in huge numbers so there are a good number of Argentinians there too, hence the Argentinian shirts on all four sides of the ground and their flags behind both goals.

That's shut the Qatari fans up.

It's unlikely the Saudis will hang on to their lead but it would be great to see the Argentinian cheats defeated.

Surely if we support LGBT rights we should want the Saudis to lose.it’s illegal there too you know

Old Messi not used to playing against decent standard opposition.

Indeed, reflection on the easy life at PSG. Most of the Ligue 1 opposition have annual budgets of not much less than Mbappe's annual salary.

Playing against 3rd rate africans is pretty easy. I watch Clermont so I'd know.
