I remember an England team full of stars labouring against Trinidad & Tobago in the World Cup. Southgate has turned England into a completely different team. The confidence they play with is fantastic

Yip decent performance and a nice win to start us off.

It's just stuff like the commentators saying "This is beyond England's wildest dreams"...No it's not. It's very slightly better than I expected.

Fck me you lot are miserable fuckers. Seem to love slagging off our players.

Who’s slagged them off?

All anyone has said is it was a poor goal for us to concede, Maguire lost his man, and this game hasn’t been groundbreaking because Iran ultimately are not good opposition. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We’ve been good but it’s not like we’ve played Spain or Germany and had to be at our best…

CBA to trawl back but Saka, Mount, Sterling,Pickford, Maguire and Grealish all been criticised when we are winning handsomely

Grealish accidentally passing the wrong way and inadvertently finding the net.

"You've got to love him" says the commentator, no chance he's the most annoying player in the Premier league

I watch Foden and see how he spins, takes players on and feel JG can do the same, always seems to play within himself - so much more to come :)

That's what VAR is there for. Didn't spot it at first. Shirt pulling is against the law of the game. Pen.

Didn’t spot the one on McGuire though did it…

Dont think we are arguing that, just wondering why Maguires wasn't a pen then in the first half?

All very well and good if applied consistently...

It didn't, you're right. But just because that one was missed, doesn't mean you don't give the next one.

Brilliant lads. Don't care that it's only Iran. That's quite a performance.

Exactly. It was only Algeria, or only Iceland.

Superb display from England. Shows what we can do when the players are already tuned up due to being part way through a season rather than trying to get up and running after the end of a tough season. We looked like strong contenders today and Iran can't be that bad if they're ranked in the top 20 in the world. Well played lads.

I would have agreed pre-VAR but now they have someone monitoring the game on a screen and they set the benchmark in the first half.
