OttawaSaint Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Err what?!?! I know we are a small club but who the fuck are Goztepe? Never heard of them. 1 1
Maggie May Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 I’ve just heard Joe Shields is interested in becoming Goztepe’s new director of recruitment. 1 4
John Boy Saint Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 I was working in Istanbul a couple of weeks ago, talking to the barmen in the hotel asked about Goztepe, they said that they were an insignificant club that no one notices
LiberalCommunist Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Were I Ralph, I'd stick this up on the dressing room wall when we plays these twats in the summer friendies, to make our tin pot owners some money. The bloody cheek! lol

Bad Wolf Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 This is being taken out of context. I think what he meant was the act of acquiring a second club (Göztepe) and thus starting the portfolio was a bigger deal than purchasing a club initially (Saints) 2
Saintscummer Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 their transfer record is 1.4 million euros and their ground holds maximum of 19.000. I think he is pissed on too many ouzo’s 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Our new owners are a bit shit to be fair. Another masterstroke by Semmens and Steele! 1

SaintsLoyal Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Average attendance in top tier is around 10K and a bit more when the hig boys turn up. They play in seond tier and atendances of around 7K
Master Bates Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 He's holding a spliff behind that banner.

fanimal Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 I have been there whilst I was working in Turkey as most Turks will tell you apart from the big 3 in Istanbul only Trabzon gets close to being a big club despite Ankara Izmir and Antalya being large cities in terms of population
Bewildered Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Typical, the first time we see someone from SR talk, they are quoted as insulting the club. 2 2
Turkish Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Maybe Adam Blackmore was right, is arrogant for a club smaller than one in turkey no one has heard of with an average gate of less than 5,000 to think they should be doing alright in the premier league. 5
Miltonaggro Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Saints currently ranked 82 globally, Harrogate Town 634, Goztepe unlisted as don’t meet the criteria. Ankersen needs to clarify to us small time second stream tosspots what he was on about, or indeed what he was on. 1 1
LuckyNumber7 Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 I'm hoping he's been misquoted or it's been taken out of context, as that's really not a good look from the club's owners. Just compounds the current negativity with everything else that's going on. 1 1

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Classic Ankersen. Only too happy to share the forward planning on where the club will be in 5 years, with the current set up. 🙂 1

Badger Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 Perhaps Ankersen has spent too long in the company of Semmens and Steele. Their apparent ambition for the club has rubbed off on him. 3

niceandfriendly Posted 14 October, 2022 Posted 14 October, 2022 (edited) Sorry, but is everyone losing their minds over a tweet from the mighty “Turk Scout”, an account with a thousand followers? Has anyone heard Ankersen actually say this? I doubt he’s said anything remotely like what has been quoted. If he has indeed been misquoted he was probably saying that Gozetzpe are a bigger “job” than Southampton, ie. more effort to make them a success. alehouseboys Posted 15 October, 2022 Posted 15 October, 2022 There's plenty of Turkish news outlets quoting this as their headline and saying Rasmus 'stated' this comment. Tbf, they have been Turkish League champions in the past and won a number of cups and Izmir does have a population of well over 4 million, so bigger in that sense. But they regularly play in front of small crowds in a smaller stadium - I assume he was speaking through a translator who could have twisted his words to appeal to the eager audience but he should now come out and clarify what's been reported. When they do turn up they do get typical Turkish support which is on a totally different level to anything in this country... https://www.facebook.com/TheCasualUltra/videos/göztepe-fans-initiated-their-new-stadium-last-weekend-in-the-match-against-beşik/807091053036100/ I'm sure the powers that be at SFC would be looking at closing down large swaths of that stadium with behaviour like that (only slightly tongue-in-cheek!) 1
