Let's hope Saints have inserted a sell-on clause for Tella. If he has a successful season with BL and scores 15 goals, he will be hailed as the next Jude B Bellingham and the big clubs will be in for him. Start the bidding at £60m with Arsenal & Chelsea interested…. We need a share of that!

On a different note, seems RM's optimism of players changing their minds about leaving since the changeover of coaching staff and style of play was a bit premature. As far as can be told only Stuart Armstrong & KWP might be in that group but judging by his post match hand shakes all round on Saturday, my suspicion is that KWP will be off this week as well.

Hmmm!

Based on him keeping us up for multiple seasons with hardly any investment into the team and the fact Everton were worse over the season than us when Ralph was manager.

Why did we allow one of the league's best players to leave the club in the summer when we didn't need to? Worst decision of the transfer window bar none?

Yeah i don't think its coincidental that we've suddenly looked so much more unthreatening since we lost our genuine goal threat wide player and didn't replace him.

The tella sale is far from our worst bit of business. JWP was easily the worse decision of the transfer window. Easily!! 3 years left, captain, plays every minute of every game, and hands down our best player. £27M. The guy will go on for another 5 years at the top level as well. The state of our LB, CBs and RB cover are all worse bits of business than Tella sadly.

Leverkusen top of the bundesliga and unbeaten, 31 out of 33 pts is insane and he scored on saturday.

Had very little involvement up till recently. Still a frustrating loss. Doubt they'll end up winning the league, Bayern are too consistent for that.

Hard to break into a table topping team, let alone in a new country, am sure they are easing him in but he's getting great experience, happy for him.

Looking back at Burnley's runaway promotion efforts,  no Burnley fan could deny that it was - in no small part - due to Nathan's Tella's goal tally

but the Burnley board must be kicking themselves for being so tight-fisted when they refused to stump up the extra few million we were asking.

Looking at the present Prem. league table  it makes a sorrowful picture for a club that was performing so well back in the Spring.

Now their fans must wait nervously for the club to invest " big time " in January in a desperate effort to stave off the inevitable relegation.

It's even more of a problem as they obviously have big problems - at both ends of the pitch.

Nathan will have to wait the chance to break into his new side, but any team that can stand above Bayern Munich must be a really good team.

It's hard for the fans but honestly it's best that Burnley spend their resources sensibly rather than splurging £20m on Tella

Tella is at his peak ability, whereas Sulemana could develop into a top player and be worth much more than anyone was willing to pay last summer. We definitely sold the right one

I disagree. Sulemana should be tearing up this league, yet he has shown anything but that type of form.

I do have a worry that he will never fulfill his potential. But we've got to stick with him in case he does. And it's only really his final ball that's the issue, he's beating his man regularly (I wasn't able to watch the Huddersfield game)

Lack of movement in the box doesn’t help. Maybe RS will make the runs CA should

Insane opinion. Tella is miles ahead of Sulemana in almost every way

Including age, by nearly two and a half years, which makes a big difference at this age.

Personally I think he has more potential than Tella: faster, a decent and better touch but still lacking the decision making that experience will bring. I've seen signs of better movement too. So all in all not an "insane opinion" and I wouldn't make quite such dogmatic statements for such a young player, new to English football.

Except maybe pace, vision and ball mastery.

Feel Tella has better ball mastery (if the opposition will let him). Problem is, he'll always be lightweight, so I also think we sold the right player. Sulemana has the physique and speed to get past and hold opposition at bay, but he's a long way off the finished article.

a) he somehow slows the game up with his ponderous initial dribbling, b) his touch leaves a lot to be desired and c) his decision making is crap. Often he'll get past his defender and then try and get past him again.

I will accept that when Sully scores 15+ league goals, makes team of the year and spearheads us to automatic promotion

Why?

Sulemana is clearly faster than Tella. Vision and ball mastery is slightly more subjective but arguably true.

If all you’re concerned about is outcomes then Le Tissier’s total number of England caps makes Eric Dier a better player than him.

Because the outcome required is promotion this season, not in 5 years. Tella has a proven track record of the highest order in this league, Sully has done very little so far.

All this might be true and yet irrelevant to the conversation being had on player attributes.

Think sulamana has pretty much better attributes then tella with everything apart from finishing.. but tella is a 20 goal a season guy in the championship ..

still think sulamana has more potential though

The system we play has a bearing here too. Sulemana may be the faster of the two. But in a system that allows teams to reset, and get gradually pulled out of position (as our games often end up), that becomes less important. Like a number of our team, he's having to learn other skills, that may not have been his best attributes.

As we saw at the start of the season, Tella offered a more direct attacking threat, and enough skill to carry it out. If anything, the extra attention that teams would have to pay Tella, would have allowed Sule to flourish more on the other flank.

Clearly Martin is instructing Sule in all those other areas. Not surprisingly, it will be frustrating on both sides for some players.

Sule may have the most potential, but the areas he has the most potential in may not be an easy fit just now, while other areas have to develop. No reason why Tella also couldn't have developed here, while already showing more effectiveness in outcome.

Just making it up. Tella was player of the season in this league. Sulemana has done nothing except sulk.

You guys have it backward about the physicality as well. Tella proved he could live with the championship aggression. Sulemana is lightweight and gets bullied out of games.

well in fact he does.  I watched Europa League game v. top Swedish club  Häcken ( pronounced Hecken b.t.w.) on TV here last evening.

Impressed by Leverkrusen's tactics, lots of possession 60% (ala. Saints) although Häcken attacked a lot Leverkrusen's defence were equal to the task.

Nathan  started the game and energetically turned up all over the place, showing incredible pace and was unlucky not to score.

He was in the first batch of subs. after the hour, and got a good reception coming off.    The Germans scored in each half and won 2-0.

Toi be fair, t was his playing in the Bundesliga that was being discussed. He has played only 63 minutes in 7 appearance so far in the League, 1 goal, no assists. So far Leverkusen have scored 37 goals this season in 12 games. Clearly struggling to break through into the very successful first team, but his recent goal will help no doubt.  In the Europa League he has made 5 starts, also 1 goal, no assists.

Nevertheless Sulemana is way behind Tella at present, but bear in mind he has 3 years to develop before he reaches Tella's age.

What a dreadful career move, he must be hating it out there. Only the mighty Burnley can save him from such terrible circumstances. Fingers crossed they will free him soon.
