Noodles34 Posted 22 September, 2022 Share Posted 22 September, 2022 Surprised no one has mentioned this. oct 8 nationwide. Wonder if they will postpone the game?
gsweet87 Posted 22 September, 2022 Share Posted 22 September, 2022 (edited) Bigger strike on the 1st (Everton home) and no talks of postponements on that day so I'd have thought not. Edited 22 September, 2022 by gsweet87

Saint Garrett Posted 22 September, 2022 Share Posted 22 September, 2022 Only sat home game left this year. And no trains. So irritating. Seems to be train strikes every week atm. 2 hours ago, gsweet87 said: Bigger strike on the 1st (Everton home) and no talks of postponements on that day so I'd have thought not. gsweet87 Posted 23 September, 2022 Share Posted 23 September, 2022 Frustrating indeed. I'll be driving down, hopefully traffic won't be too manic.

I think these are the first strikes planned for Saturdays, the impact on weekdays was not as extensive as expected, so new strategy. Will continue until Gov get their heads or of their asses and get involved with negotiations (so that will be never).
FboroSaint21 Posted 23 September, 2022 Share Posted 23 September, 2022 Working out alright for driving down - means I get to stay over so my mrs doesn't get to see me steaming when I get home. But trains are screwed for all of the home games in October from what I've - not sure what's happening between Eastleigh and Southampton Central but it's buses for all of the Sunday games. suewhistle Posted 23 September, 2022 Share Posted 23 September, 2022 Better at weekends than impacting people who have to get to work. If strikes or engineering works impact our home games at least I save a fair bit of money on pre-match drinks and with an EV my fuel costs are minimal. It’s annoying, I’ve got match tickets for both and live in London, but I fully support the strikes.

It’s because more and more people can WFH meaning the impact on commuters is a lot less than during previous years. The biggest impact they can make is fucking up our leisure activities, that’s why they’re doing it.
moorw003 Posted 25 September, 2022 Share Posted 25 September, 2022 I work on the railway, so will keep any political opinion on what's happening strictly to myself. With my Saints hat on however, living in Haslemere, being a season ticket holder and having bought tickets for Man City away.... yeh, my car will be racking up the miles in the next few weeks. NorthLondonSFC Posted 28 September, 2022 Share Posted 28 September, 2022 Has anyone else figured out a way to get there via train? London Northwest railway are running a severely limited service on 8th to Crewe and then can get a train from Crewe to Manchester via Cross Country/Northern Trains. No info provided on times etc yet but in theory it is possible. I haven't decided whether its worth the risk of then getting stranded in Manchester with no way back to London. suewhistle Posted 28 September, 2022 Share Posted 28 September, 2022 Perhaps the forum should organise a lift board so that people can share costs.

Best to use Shanks'. I'd normally train down for home games! So it includes the Everton game. Because my twin would normally travel from Bournemouth to Southampton by train, I have to go and pick him up as well. Soon adds up! Plus, as has been alluded to, union bosses have realised the weekend will hurt more than weekdays so no doubt this will continue.
