Its either invest serious money now to give us a chance, or wait until the summer to rebuild, as no investment will surely mean relegation.

If we're clever with contracts offered it could help us come relegation if the gambles don't pay off.

We always had money to back a replacement manager in the winter, it was all part of the contingency

My concern is we left ourselves short in the summer and I’m not convinced by NJ so far… Im not concerned about money for reinforcements because it is apparently there

this comparison v Che doesnt bode well

Hopefully its a rumour to get some action elsewhere.

Jackson is a wide man though isn't he, so I'd expect that kind of comparison when put next to a striker. Would be more interesting to see his stats up against Moussa or Ely?

Yeah they listed him as a forward but I just compared him to Moi, Moussa and Armstrong and he loses every comparison - check it out on here

He beat walcott tho hahaha

Interesting! He's done more than any of those guys in la liga this season from a wide position though, when you look at his output from the last 6 months. He's still pretty young though, so will need some time to adapt (which we don't have!)

I hope im wrong but logic suggests if you look thru the team the two most valuable assets that can be replaced or we have a fall back for are at CB , if they sell Salisu and Ketchup the would /should get 50mil ? get bendarak and stephens back we still have Cal Car , Lynco and those two , as i say i hope i am wrong and just being cynical .

Oxlaide chamberlain starting got Liverpool tonight. Guess they’re trying to prove his fitness and put him in the shop window. Miles better than we’ve got when fit, surely he’ll have better options though

The last ex-player nostaligia signing worked out well for us. Ox is a much better player than Walcott at this stage, but we'd be lucky to get 10-15 games out of him a season with his injury history

I only mentioned it because we’ve been linked in the media, not a fan of the being him back stuff. He’s the sort of player we need but like you say, lucky if he’s fit half the season

Is Jackson the lad who drifted past our whole team with ease in a friendly last season?

He came on for Villarreal. Set up a goal with a run down the wing that really should have been stopped but it was against us so it wasn't.

He’s out of contract at the end of the season anyway. He’ll end up bench warming maybe a London club again.

Just read Moffi was the other option aside from Malan to replace Haaland at dortmund.

Decent scouting report https://www.scouttuncalp.com/en/2022/11/27/terem-moffi-scouting-analysis/

Has a 7 year old wrote that or is it just a terrible translation. Air cannons, far pole and theres a risk that Moffi could put on weight were my favourite bits

Vitinha benched by Braga tonight against Benfica. The other two forwards have just scored so maybe they might look to cash in on him.

Also I see Fabio Carvalho on the bench for Liverpool tonight. But with Gakpo arriving, Jota and Diaz returning from injury eventually, plus Nunez, Salah, Firmino, Elliott, Bajcetic and the Ox all seemigly preferred ahead of him, perhaps a sneaky loan bid?

It is pretty shit when players are happy to take the money and sit on the bench these days.

You named 8 players that could do a job for us and this is why these rich clubs make me sick.

It was obvious when he signed that he would get very little game time. He'll be out on loan in the next year and then permanently sold within 2. He was superb for Fulham last year but Liverpool was a leap too soon

I always found it to be madness how Argentina's World Cup winning centre forward is an often forgotten squad player at City.

USA's first choice goalkeeper is Arsenal's second and hasn't played a minute in the league this season.

Probably more examples.

The States keeper looked pretty decent to be fair. Probably too good to be a second choice keeper.

I see Swindon have signed a proven goal scorer. Premier League experience. Someone who never has a bad word to say about Saints and the Saints fans absolutely love him. Wake Up Board!!! Why weren't we all over this? His name of course,......... is Charlie Austin.

Also, Andy Carroll scored for Reading in the week and again tonight. His loan spell with them is due to end. Come on Board, you know it makes sense. What a twin strike partnership that would be, putting fear into every defence they come up against.

I know it sounds like a 1950's motor car, but Austin Carroll has a ring about it. Would suit NJ's apparent long ball game as well and between them they would surely save us. Get it done. 🤣

(before anyone jumps down my throat.....it's a joke)

I breathed a sigh of relief when we sacked off that numpty. Only saints would flush a turd and then go rooting around in the pipe to try and make it reappear.

Me too been shite for a couple of seasons and turned into a prick, gave it large when he left now back with his tail between his legs.

When we signed him I thought it was a pretty good deal for a backup CB on the cheap with a bit of potential. I never for a moment thought he'd morph into being our first choice cb. The idea that we are possibly bringing him back is amazing when you consider we have Salisu, DCC and Bella Kotchap who are all clearly better than him and then maybe even Lyanco who at least has a better attitude. It really makes us look desperate and the only thing I can think is that we have one eye on the championship next year where he could probably do a job. Grim.

Quite telling that he has only managed to muster 90 minutes of football for Villa. Lad is diabolical, and only got away with it for so long with us because of how utterly inept our back line was. Just when I thought we'd finally managed to get a decent enough string of CB's together, we want to bring him back. Madness, to me. Maybe it suggests Salisu is off in January, mind. Newcastle were heavily sniffing around him this time last year.

Even if we sell Salisu, Bednarek is very much not the answer.

I’d just watched him playing for Poland U21s against England and got absolutely dominated by the England striker, can’t remember who it was, possibly Tammy Abraham. But still at £5m worth a put as definitely YHGTI. He’s not been the answer for years and now like you say probably at best out 4th choice centre back. 2 appearances for villa after giving it large when he moved. What a shambles of a club we are

Jan...... clubs let players go on loan for two reasons....

1. they are kids, lets see how they do playing regularly in a less intense environment...

2. they should be in their prime, but are a bit shit, and we don't want to pay them till the end of their contract.

I just can’t understand why we would be looking at getting him back

Ok so I read that as Villa want him to cancel his loan and fuck off, not us recalling him.

We are just stuck with him, let him play some B team football.

I’m kind of hoping he’s not happy at Villa and they don’t want him, and we might be able to bring in some funds for him this window. If he plays this season that’s embarrassing

Alvarez is class. Granted he joined them only this summer from river plate and most English fans would struggle to name more than a handful of teams from that league... But it doesn't change the fact that he is class. He'll be a regular for City next couple of seasons. I think he's only about 21 as it is... Has a very big future.
