Always good to judge players on literally 90 minutes of football… assuming you have never watched him before?

can he play front sweeper?

We need one now. Read "Inverting the Pyramid" by Jonathan Wilson. Explains the role. Read my previous comment about having a move on his mind or hopeless. On last nights performance he wouldn't help us improve on Boxing Day's debacle.

Also wouldn’t be surprised if we’re in the market for another right back.

Hmm. Walker-Peters off? Livramento nowhere near returning to fitness? And/or off?

Djed Spence would be a solid move, I'd think, given his Spurs career is going nowhere. Loan with an option perhaps?

Yes please, will have a lot to prove - much like KWP when he came in

I'd like to see more of KWP at left-back. Perraud is ok, he puts in a decent ball, but I'm not convinced he has the natural fitness for the Premier League - especially not playing twice a week.

Thought we had the thick end of 30 million earmarked for a striker in the Summer?

He would have been worth it - IF  he had signed, but we may not look so attractive to some targets just now.

Can't see the club transfer record going this time around either.

Utterly bemused that we have any interest in CB's. This is a club that spent a huge amount of money on 2 of them in the summer. We also have a further 2 CB's who are only out on loan and there looks to be zero chance of actually selling. At this rate we'll be able to put out an XI made out entirely of CB's.

Probably be a bit more solid with no negative effect on goals scored. Sounds like a cunning plan.

We probably aren’t. Most of these links posted are accounts run by fans copying the same story over and over again.

Anyone that’s watched us this season could tell you that defence (weirdly) is the last area that needs improving.

well, apart from the fact none of the left backs are any good, the star right back hasn't played well this season and his replacement is a loaned CM that doesn't want play there. oh, and we concede goals from all angles and create little from those players either.  Weirdly, despite all that, you are right, it's the last area that needs improving.

some will get their dream of seeing Jack Stephens play centre mid

Our defence doesn't need strengthening? How is that medication? Wow.

We don't need another CB. Like others have alluded to already CB is our strongest area. ABK, Salisu and Caleta-Car are all quality. Lyanco is a good option also. The areas we need to strengthen desperately are CDM, A creative attacking midfielder and striker. The owners need to spend big and invest.

He didn't say that he said it was the last area that needed strengthening and he's right. We have a finite amount of money and resources to strengthen in January and it's DM, AM, striker or two and then maybe a winger if we get that far. We should have enough at the back to survive if we improve the rest.

When you look at us and the amount of goals we concede for fun, it's easy for an outsider who doesn't watch us to come to the conclusion that we need better CB's. But weirdly that's not exactly correct, we have very capable and athletic centre backs, but poor protection in front of them which leaves them horribly exposed.

It's a worry if the people closer to the club than we are think that a new CB is needed, as it suggests they are slightly oblivious to the underlying issue. If they sort out DM then we can go with the current crop of CB's we have, no problems. DM and Attack is where the money needs to go.

I view Perraud as average, not the worst fullback but doesn't have much of a higher ceiling. Larios looks completely unready to play at this level.  I've been wondering if we should  get Jamal Lewis in on loan as competition. He's was playing at a high level at Norwich but the newcastle move hasn't worked for him.

Agree a lot with this could also be due to formation Imo .. we always used a two man cm which can leave us a bit exposed especially when the cm is as lightweight as ours.

Oh no.  I can imagine Les stating how comfortable he would be with this signing

Tbh not really blown away with watching some videos of him.. I feel quite on the fence with him, wouldn’t say his shooting technique looks anything to write home about. I know it’s the championship but I think gyokeres looks a lot more impressive from video scouting 😕

Whoever we sign, we need to sign them in the first few days of January and they need to be good enough to come into the team immediately and improve us.

If we don’t pick up points against Forest, Everton, Villa, Brentford and Wolves then we’ll be as good as down.

See Ayoze Perez at Leicester up for sale always rated him but guess no sell on so not going to happen.

Only plays well against us, so I suppose we wouldn't have to face him.

if we sign a right winger, which we badly need if we are going to play three up front, that doesn't go straight into the side, then we are doomed.

A good club does their transfer business early.
If we drag it out haggling over a few quid and as said above subsequently lose to teams around us then we’ll most definitely be done.

SR could’ve elected to bring in a bigger name and haven’t, so they need to invest in the playing squad now to turn this around.

if we signed all the players that look against us, we'd have a huge squad.

And we were so impressed that in the intervening 5 years, we signed Guido Carrillo, Danny Ings, Che Adams, Theo Walcott, Takumi Minamino, Armando Broja, Adam Armstrong, and Sekou Mara (and gave Shane Long a contract extension) instead.

I'm being facetious - I think he looks half decent. Certainly compared to what we have.

You’d prioritise another defender instead of a GK, a winger, a midfielder or a striker? 🤷🏻‍♂️

We need a striker, a No.10/winger and probably another DM depending on the long term fitness of RL

Thats the overall requirement right now.. I’d be hugely surprised if we bring in another GK and for me we have enough in defence if organised effectively

Poor protection in front of them and a poor flappy handed keeper behind them.  Centre back and right back is our strongest postions. Although I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see KWP try and get a move, he must know he’s better than the shit show around him

Its either invest serious money now to give us a chance, or wait until the summer to rebuild, as no investment will surely mean relegation.

If we're clever with contracts offered it could help us come relegation if the gambles don't pay off.

Well Nicolas Jackson is an exciting attacking talent, likely to get us goals and excite the crowd, but he’s not the 5th choice centre back we apparently desperately need…
