Lavia isn't playing more than 60 minutes per game at the moment, and we're almost certain to lose him in the summer whether we stay up or go down. Diallo is as a nuisance, but a massive MASSIVE step down in quality from Lavia, particularly in terms of keeping what tiny percentage of possession we have in game these days.

Hjulmand, a winger and a striker on loan is the absolute best we can expect at this point, which means it's almost certain that none of those will happen. But eh, at least we managed to add a right back with the worst passing stats in the championship to the squad.

I do get you but Lavia jwp and Alcaraz should be the starting 3 . So it means wasting transfer budget on someone to cover Lavia for 30 mins a match , when diallo is capable of doing that and tbh we don’t even know if he’s better then diallo until we sign him..

Cm is our strongest position currently.. but we have absolutely sod all in the terms of centre forward.. I want the budget spent there and if we have to add anyone else a upgrade on bazunu would be next on my list these are the two positions affecting our results not centre midfield.

As if Jones would know anything about Sulemana. It’s laughable.
the same with many we’ve been linked with.
Bree is the Token acquisition recommended  by Jones.
just highlights the fact the ones further up the food chain chooses the players, style of play etc.

jones is just a yes man.

Watching the highlights of Sulemana why are we in for him?

Just seems to run about with no end product I don't see how he is going to help us in a relegation battle...

Need a big target man type striker

He doesn’t look like a £20m player on YouTube.  Steve De Ridder he ain’t.

Has he ever ever mentioned Sulemana?

You’re wondering why Southampton Football Club are signing a player who runs about with no end product?

Yes probably but I'd suggest that's true for most managers nowadays.

So? Everyone knows how transfers work these days. Jones has described it himself. The manager lays out the attributes he is after, then the scouting team present some options and they decide which to go for. Obviously the manager can provide his own options, as he will have done with Bree, but managers don't spend time scouting like they used to - especially with so many players coming from abroad. They are reliant on scouting teams. That's the same everywhere. Are all Prem managers yes men? Of course not. And neither is Jones.

Jones wants someone strong, fast and aggressive. I'm not sure why he thinks that's going to make the attack more potent but there you go. It seems those attributes are the most highly prized in our position. Maybe he's right.

They are not the attributes to describe Sulemana (or Orsic).

Managers have little to no input in signings now.

As was said above, people higher up make the signings, not the manager. Every so often you get that token gesture (James Bree) in Nathan Jones’ case.

He’s probably never seen Orsic play, or Sulemana, or Hojlund, or Alcaraz etc. 😅

There will be a transfer commitee so to speak and rightly so

I absolutely do not want 1 man to decide how we spend our allotted budget, especially if that man may or may not be here in 6 months

Problem is, there is this massive roundabout of managers and players that make it on to the 92 top table.

They all go round and round the clubs spouting this spouting that, jobs for the boys. Get a great contract for three years or so.

It takes a brave DOF, Chairperson or owner that says let’s look outside the fishbowl.

There is so much talent in non league both managerial and particularly players that could make a difference.

Too late for us now this season I fear to nurture and develop like we used to do.

I’ve not given up yet , because I still think there are two teams that aren’t as good as us that will go down, I can’t see us being the third providing we give someone a chance.

Yes.  Much better to leave it to a load of nerdy twats who never played the game and their fucking xG.

Yep, they’ve been so successful in recent times. That’s the first thing I’d get rid of… the room full of stat dorks.

You're quite right. It would take an incredibly brave Chairman to bring  into Premier League Southampton a non league manager and a load of players also from non league. Very brave.

Dunno about the strong and aggressive .. but he was the fastest player at the World Cup and faster then mbappe…

that said he’s still more of a winger then a striker so I’m not big on this deal unless we get a cf as well..

looks more like a alternative to Jackson then anything

And it's a really exciting deadline day here in St Mary's where newly appointed manager Paul "Eggy" Egginson has already stamped his ideas on the squad. The former Blyth Spartans boss has swooped to bring in former players "Smudge" Watkins, Johnny the Postman, Spanish Colin, "Leaky" Jenkins and Mick the Spark.

Yeah, this is Brighton hitting the same glass ceiling we did. There's no real way beyond that for clubs like us, the good players we have will always do the above if we try to stand firm.

They're enjoying their moment as we enjoyed our moment, but this is why being competitive in the top half in this league for more than a fleeting period for clubs without major, major backing is pretty much impossible.

Caicedo at Brighton has just posted this on instagram…got to feel a bit sorry for them really, they’ve been pillaged.

But there is no deal accepted yet, and guessing he’s trying to force a move….

I'm probably bitter, but i don't feel sorry for the at all. brings back memories of when we used to get raped by the likes of arse-anal,

Brighton can always bring this guy back when he is way past his best and looking for a final pay check
