Sport Republic have heralded the new era under their ownership with an extraordinary window. What will their second window look like?

Will we see a top striker / attacker brought in?

Will Redmond and Walcott finally go?

Will they try and cash in on Stuart Armstrong, Elyounoussi or Djenepo if our new young players are already flying?

Will some of the big boys try to poach Lavia or ABK?

Excited for the January window as I feel we can finally compete against the likes of Everton and even West Ham.

So a striker will most likely come in and either Adams and Armstrong will need to step up as they could be sold on.

Love the fact we are an attraction to any youth player as we will give them a chance, wouldn’t surprise me if they are nudging their agents to get a deal at Saints.

Good luck to him, hope he gets a fair crack this season. Suspect though he will get a few minutes here and there which won’t do much for his development.

Ross: 'Giza job. I can do dhat'

Saints: 'We've got a pitch that needs replanting.'

Ross: 'I've got a cousin who can get sum terf.'

I don't know what happened next.

Very talented player. Would be a very interesting addition to our young team.

I'm amazed he's only 28. Seems like he's been around forever. What's gone wrong with him?

Similar thing to Deli Alli I guess. Cba to work hard. I think it’s incredibly unlikely we’re in talks with him if I’m honest.

I think the fact that we didn’t go and splash the cash set aside for Gakpo on our second/third choice shows we will still only spend where we think is value, which is good. As such, I can’t see us paying over the odds for anyone, which is often the case in January.

Totally agree. He could work very well in Ralph's system in my opinion and he's always been a player I don't like to see playing against us.

I think with the world Cup coming up the Gakpo dream is over. Surely he will have alpt more suitors, and rightly I think he is ready for the next step up and Southamton are just a little bit under him now.

It's also worth waiting and seeing who shines as a younger player in the WC, I would imagine someone will impress and we could potentially look to buy shrewdly again.

Can we afford to not sign a striker? Can we afford a striker?

Will we be able to find a decent one, prepared to come to us ? Without shopping in the 'Carillo car boot' market that is ?

Ok so the shopping list now includes:

- One left back (Perraud fitness iffy)
- Two centre-mids
- Two wingers
- At least one striker

In January? Sure! This should have been done in the summer when you and everyone else was trumpeting what a great window it was and that we didn't need a striker. For the record, you still have striker way down on the list.

Firstly, it was sarcasm. Of course we aren’t buying all these players.

Secondly, it’s in the order of how a team is generally announced, starting at the back and finishing with the forward line - not necessarily a priority listing.

🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

If we want to buy a brilliant young left back who is going to be worth a fortune in future, we could do a lot worse than Josh Doig.

I'd love to think the club will have a striker lined up to join on the 1st January, but never seems to happen.  We need at least 1 AM/Wide Player depending on system, and 1 top drawer striker to stand a chance of staying up IMO. If we cannot score we aren't going to win many games...Mara is nowhere near being good enough yet. Fine with him coming off the bench occasionally, but should not be starting in this league.

We won’t be signing a left back, we’ve got Perrard, Larios, that young kid we signed from Spain, the young kid we’ve just signed from spurs and Small out on loan. 4 of them under 20

And KWP who can play there once Tino is back fit.

As others have said a striker and a decent attacking midfielder have to be a priority. The Problem we’ll have is convincing anyone who is any good to join us if we’re in a relegation battle as seems highly likely

True, but I like watching Josh Doig play. He really is a great young player. Larios was good against Everton and is one of the best youngsters we signed this summer, but, like Cedric, he is so short that he encourages the opposition to play high crosses over him.

Small seems to be miles away from the first team. Not heard anything of the Spanish kid, No idea on the spurs lad and Larios looks alright but very young and short, Perrard unconvincing. We seem to be going for quantity rather than quality

A player we should have picked up from Hibs.

For all the talk of signing young players we seem to have overlooked north of the border. What did Hickey leave Hearts for, £1.5m ?

Danny Ings, six-month loan, pay his wages, bosh, done.

Providing Gerrard hasn't been sacked by then and his replacement doesn't wise up to the fact that he's a much better player than Watkins.

Any other striker and we'd be paying through the nose and risking a Carrillo-lite situation.

You think??

Rangers bought Colak for £1.12m he has scored 11 goals already including in European competitions. Not saying we buy him but our immense scouting team should be able to find a similar player.
I reckon we would have a fair bit of money put aside for a decent striker.

Decent shout, but even if he isn't starting games, Villa will want to keep him in reserve so wont let him come to us.

Do teams near the bottom ever pick up quality players in the January window? I know there are some great signings by the big clubs, but they are not in danger of going down.

Had we signed a clinical striker I reckon we'd have 4, maybe 6 points more than we do now. We won't achieve our aims this season until we sign one.

Hopefully we won't panic and get a Carrillo type...

I m disappointed  we didn t have back up plans or a striker we could have brought on loan

Good shout, but don't think Villa would do it. Why would they want to strengthen a fellow relegation contender?

Gapko let us Leeds and Newcastle on the final day of the transfer window. Not our fault we clearly have at least €25m set aside for a striker.

He is not even a striker, and we wanted Delap.  DELAP!!!

err of course it is our fault. Or am I missing something? Clearly needed a striker all of last season, had all summer to get one and didn't. What's this final day rubbish? It should never have got to the final day!
