Chez Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Great skills from Edozie. Boy he looks confident. 4

With a new striker we'd never lose another game all season, innit I’d happily wage a significant amount of money that no other PL striker, or player actually, would have missed that header from 2 yards. 2

Disco Stu Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 FT Not quite sure how we lost that. Injury to KWP to top it off.
BotleySaint Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Che lost the game for us really. Schoolboy error really. Still, there are reasons to be positive about the new signings. 1
SNSUN Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 I have Wolves as our rivals so that's a poor result. 1

obelisk Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 JWP free kicks have turned to mush too. Should have got something from that game.

coalman Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 I think that in a game or two, Edozie and Mara will be starting. We're trying to ease them in but Moi and Diallo aren't good enough. Djenepo looks better at LB than Perraud too

Ade Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 We've all seen those videos of worst goal misses of all time. Well, Che's effort has eclipsed them all! Sorry but no player should miss that, ever, ever. 1 1

We could have won this. With Ings in this team you would think we would have. You're not wrong but I don't think it's a particularly controversial statement. The club clearly wanted another forward and we seemed to be willing to commit good funds to the right player. It didn't come off but we're clearly a better side than last year and should have enough about us to do okay this year. I think 99% of the forum agree - another forward would have been ideal. The only split I see if those trying to take a more circumspect view of us as a 'work in progress' and those who feel that the club have dropped a major boll*ck and should be hung up (with a few shades in between). On another day we'd have taken something from this one and we didn't do loads wrong. Che should have had at least one though he has had a fairly bright start to the season. We have a few options albeit the likes of Mara and Edozie are very raw.
OttawaSaint Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 I guess what we feared the most is Che being Che. So now he'll have no confidence. Great...FFS!
Jimmy_D Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Maybe a little jaded after the two big home games, but still deserved something from that game. Just didn’t fall our way on the day. Guh. on to the next one. 2

Daft Kerplunk Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 That was one of those games. Shitty goal to concede, and then we couldn’t create truly decent chances. Signings look good and impactful. Ralph listening to coaches again. On to the next match. 1

Mr X Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Did the club put all their eggs in one basket with the striker this window? And when it never worked out it was too late for second choice option?

Sheaf Saint Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 All over. God I hate Wolves. How the fuck do they keep managing to get these spawny, undeserved wins against us? It's like a carbon copy of the game at SMS last season where we had all the good chances yet they scored with their one and only real attempt. 3
Lighthouse Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Gah… still if we’d drawn the last three we’d have three points and I’d be happy. One of those days, a lot to come from this group of players. 2

Sarnia Cherie Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 1 step forward and 2 back. I had hoped we would build on our result against Chelsea but then I remind myself I am a Saints fan. I was getting confident about Brentford, now I am not too sure. 1
Baird of the land Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Generally a pretty even game with a shank by them winning it. I can forgice the 2nd missed chance by Che that hits the bar but the first is pitiful. If we get that i feel we at least draw the game. Postivies were Edozie looked bright. S. Armstrong has surely played himself into the starting 11 ahead of the poor Elyounessi. Djenepo looks muich more liek a FB not a winger now. 1
washsaint Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Lots of promising signs based on the cameos from Edozie and Mara. We will be a very exciting team once the youngsters bed in, Lavia gets fit: we'll still struggle to score goals though. Our summer signings look terrific and bode really well for the future. Hoping we can get Salisu to extend too as him and ABK look formidable at the back - first time in many, many years we can say that. 2
Saint_Jonny Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 I absolutely fucking hate Wolves. ANOTHER game where they get the better of us without playing well. It was obvious what was going to happen though. They needed a result, written in the cunting stars. 1
Pilchards Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Honestly fuck off that was shit. Not getting a striker is going to bite us on the bum. Little things like balls in the box we don’t react to opportunities and that’s what good strikers do. Ps I fucking HATE Wolves, cunts!!!
SonicBoom Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 I never liked Long because for the odd thing he did well he would miss chances that would have gained us draws and wins. Adams is the same. You get a big chance you have to Bury it. Especially the easy ones. You miss absolute sitters, you don't deserve anything.

It's a bad miss, he needed a bit more composure to just stand and wait for the ball to drop but he panicked and rushed it. It is not however the worst miss of all time. 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Oh well, 3rd game at the end of a pretty intense week. A full week now to prepare for a very good Brentford side. Just highlights that the window was not quite the 2nd coming that many suggested (10/10 my arse). What was the glaring shortfall today was something we all (and the club) knew about. We are still leaking goals (10 is it now?). If we do not tighten up (noting the lack of finishers), we will be rooted within the bottom 6 soone enough, and no real progress, despite the investment. 3
disconnect Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Mara has looked very promising every time he’s come on and can do things that Che and Armstrong can’t. We need to start playing him from the off as looks really good and can make things happen 1
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 Typical Saints. Beat Chelsea, lose to Wolves, who haven't won since April. Whenever there's a statistic like that and a team hasn't won for months you just know they'll end their drought when they play us. We're going to pay the price for failing to sign a striker.
Disco Stu Posted 3 September, 2022 Posted 3 September, 2022 (edited) I think this will be the story of many games this season I hate to say. We played well but need to take our chances. Shame we couldn't fill a priority position this summer. We'll have to pray Che stays fit and confident. He had a shocker today unfortunately, possibly the miss of the season (if you count it as a miss) which has cost us an attainable result against a direct rival. Wolves won't score many this season, they were certainly there for the taking. Edited 3 September, 2022 by Disco Stu
