State of the pitch

Sounded from TV like there is some sort of disease in the grass which I am sure is a nightmare to resolve, but the pitch looked (and played) awful yesterday and Im sure is much worse close up.

Wonder how long it will take to sort out?

I was there and never noticed any problems, the pitch actually looked fine to me !

Only heard about it later and was a bay surprised 😃

It was clearly patchy down by the northam / Kingsland

It did look threadbare..... bare earth showing through.... as if it had been played on a lot recently. The sort of thing you see when a club shares its ground with a rugby team.

I don’t think it was bare earth. It looked like it, but at half time they showed close ups of it, the grass is mostly still there but just looked almost dead.

The pitch also looked quite hard and bobbly to me, not sure how much they’re watering it while treating the fungus/rot.

One thing I noticed was a few times Saints players slipping over - I thought it likely this was due to the absolute soaking the grass received before the game. Not sure why but didn’t notice the same for the Manure players.

I think that's been happening for quite a few years now, the opposition always seem to be better prepared than us.

Isnt there supposed to be a hose pipe ban?,maybe that would account for the strange patchy pitch look on the stream?

It didn't play very well tonight, looks like a pitch you see at the end of a season. I do think the problem is that we haven't been able to replace it for 2 years though, so it's probably going to be a case of babysitting it this year until we have a big enough gap to rip it up.
