The Selles era ends with a win!

Do you reckon he will go? I know Jones is bringing in Cohen and Sheehan but surely there's a role for Selles

When's the draw?

Tomorrow I think, not sure if before or after Utd vs Villa though.

I really hope we get Charlton away

Everyone is knackered. Not just Saints, but look at the games across the cup matches.

I'm knackered by this season already, and I don't have to run around twice a week like the players.

Mind you, it's telling that four midfielders get to take pens before the striker.

Nathan Jones needs to remember that if you do well in the League Cup at this club then you will have a special place in the fans hearts forever.

Nothing can get in the way of the push for Europe!

So our near first team squad needs penalties to be beat a league 2 team at home.

They're 3rd in League One, but tbf that's about our standard right now.

Got through but fuck me that was absolutely terrible.

Adam Armstrong. If Jones sells that idiot then I’ll change my opinion of him.

That was the first game I’ve been to since last season.

I mean where to start…

McCarthy once again beaten at his nice post. Diallo once again being weak in the centre. Adam Armstrong once again scuffing and slicing his shots.

I’m guessing the only thing the players have trained on in the last few months is penalties because they were all brilliant. 👍🏻

Overall we were very, very poor. Second half was better once Perraud, Stu Armstrong and Walcott came on. Again we had chances but didn’t take them.

A fortunate win that 🤣

Getting through the tie without a manager was the key. It wasn’t against the League One Skates, so despite being slightly embarrassing tonight, nobody’s going to remember it in the long run.

Six Premier League sides dropped out tonight, including Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. We all know City are going to win it, but there’s an opportunity here and it’s the hope that gets you as a Saints fan.

There have been brains in the background???

According to some on this forum. Selles had 'intervened' when Ralph wasnt willing to do so during the Leeds comeback and other games this season. Though tbf this was based purely on body language and speculation

Selected Ratings:

McCarthy 5 - poor shot stopping in the first half, couldn’t hold anything, beaten at near post, good pen save but still poor overall.
Djenepo 5 - Bambi on ice, again, we never know what he’s going to do with the ball, nor do his teammates, nor does he. I’ll need to see the replay if that was actually a pen he won or whether he tripped up.
Caleta-Car 5.5 - thought he looked a bit out of sorts but better as the game went on.
Diallo 5 - kept losing the ball, exceptionally slow in the middle.
Perraud, Walcott and Stu Armstrong 7 - all made a huge difference when they came on, Walcott especially (maybe 7/8 for him)
Edozie 8 - he was excellent, very impressive dribbling, deserves more starts
Mara 5 - weak overall, completely outmuscled.
Adam Armstrong 5 - never has a player had more opportunities and sliced and panicked when having a passing or shooting opportunity

Overall tonight we were woeful. Fortunately Selles changed to four at the back and brought on the right players 👍🏻
