Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread

Will the opposition field a full-strength team? You’d imagine all they want this season is promotion so I doubt they’ll risk anyone with a niggle. Hope it’s a good test and a comfortable win. And like a lot of the above I’m hoping to see 1 or 2 youngsters at some point tonight

Che Adams?

I think the absence of Lavia from the bench is also a concern. He played 2/3 of the game on Sunday, I just hope he didn't get a reaction to his recent injury, he would be useful against Liverpool.

Confusing line up. What is the formation going to be? Who will play right back?

442 I reckon with Lyanco at right back. Would've have preferred Payne there, Lyanco and DCC at CB, and Salisu given the night off.

Agree, Payne would surely make more sense seeing as he is a right back. More square pegs in round holes 🙂

Is that Nico(?) Lawrence, the centre back we signed from a non-league team sometime in the last year? ABK, Lavia and Adams all just being rested to not risk knocks before Liverpool?

Good to see Edozie and Mara starting.

Why are we playing a cb at rib rather than our academy product.

Is Ballard injured or has he just been rewarded for doing well last time by not even being involved.

Assuming it's a back 4, Lyanco over Payne makes no sense to me. Disappointed to see that Ballard isn't involved - would have preferred to see him on the bench over Moi or Walcott.

I reckon that’s 3 at the back. Might explain why Payne is not involved.

So pumped up for tonight with Selles in charge.

Should have sacked Ralph either after Man City or Crystal Palace and given Selles a chance with a run of 6 or 3 games to see what he could do, but hey we didn't, still looking forward to see what Nathan Jones can do though.

The tactical skillful Selles and the man manageable Jones.

The futures bright, the futures red and white (unless you're colour blind, then I wouldn't know, sorry).

It's an interesting line up, not least because it looks quite attacking and I'm interested to see how Edozie and Mara get on. It looks like it could be fluid with a 4 (Lyanco and Djenepo as full backs) or 3 at the back with Djenepo rwb and perhaps Edozie as lwb? We shall see but a win would really bring a bit of positivity around the place, even if it is against League 1 opposition.

Great to see Jimmy Jay in the squad. He scored goaLs while away on England duty and is brimming with confidence.  This next batch of kids may actually be the real deal.

I wondered that but then who is playing RWB? No obvious candidates in the lineup.

Not even radio commentary available?

No bbc aren’t allowed to have it live due to the ifollow deal Sheff Wednesday have. You can listen on their website for £2.50 😂

Ludicrous from the EFL. I've actually emailed them because all it's achieving is making their second rate competition even more redundant.

I would've gone but don't live locally

It is rather disgusting that the EFL have the power in this situation to blackout coverage of a Premier League club.

Disgraceful in possession.  Absolutely shocking.  Lack of leadership, ideas, quality, and no confidence as well.  Jones better hope fixing leadership, ideas and confidence makes a difference because the ability of some on the pitch won't cut it.

Sounds like Sheff Wednesday are dominating based on what Sky are saying.

Saints fans chanting we're going down.

Shambles of a club.

Nathan Jones is in the crowd. Can anyone confirm if he was involved in the chanting?

I feel quite fortunate that I can’t see this debacle.

Exactly. Why on earth are people complaining that there is no stream for this game?
