Are the team trying to dissuade Jones from joining?

10pm tonight, Jones to RA: "Cheers mate, but I think I'll leave it. God bless."

That hotch potch of a team looks a clusterfuck in waiting. McCarthy does his near post get out of the way so I don't get hit in the face act. Giving him a new contract is a nonsense. So far 63% possession 3 shots , SW 37% possession 10 shots. I'm glad I can't see it. We can always bring on Walcott and Elyounoussi to rescue us. JWP must be revelling in it passing back to McCarthy and vice versa. At least he remembered to put the penalty away.

Rasmus should have rigged Nathan up to a monitor whilst he’s watching this to gain further data on his anxiety/blood pressure/ heart rate. Would be like a remake of Scanners in the last 10 minutes.

It was one of the many puzzling Ralph decisions - not playing Edozie more.

Is it really that puzzling, though? None of us see what goes on behind closed doors at training - perhaps Edozie has only shown glimpses, just as that's all we've seen in his appearances off the bench, and the management believed that wasn't enough to justify picking him from the start. Let's be honest, a few people got very excited by a handful of stepovers and a nutmeg in that cameo at Wolves and declared him the Second Coming of Christ. Those who are paid to make the decisions have to be a little bit more objective. Has there been any end product from him this evening, despite supposedly being our "brightest" player in a turd of a team performance so far? Certainly doesn't sound like it.

He may well turn out to be brilliant, but the club can't win - play the kids and "we're taking too many risks with this lineup", don't play them and "why can't we throw the raw but promising nippers into the team".

I noted when the penalty went in the total lack of celebration from JWP, no acknowledgement of the fans, fuck all.

What a happy little ship the club is at the moment.

To be honest though I wouldn't expect any celebration until we take the lead.

I think he should be rightly pissed off that we went 1-0 down in the first place.

Did you expect cartwheels after an equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday?

You make a good point.  I suppose I'm seeing the obvious attacking skills and talent in Edozie from his cameo appearances thus far, compared to game after game of limited, stale play from the likes of Elyounoussi.   On that basis, and given our lack of goals and attacking threat, I would have hoped Edozie would have featured more - he just looks like a special talent to me; much more than a few stepovers and nutmegs.

Again, tonight has been an opportunity for him to demonstrate that he has the ability to do it now, when as you say we need an attacking threat. Has he done anything?

Insane traffic levels (strange how nobody ever has anything to say when we're good, isn't it?) and a bit of a glitch with one component on the server that was causing a bit of a headache. Hopefully that's resolved now, been much faster in the last hour or so after I tweaked a few things.

Thanks for that, much better now, 502 errors earlier and last night.

My understanding is he simply hasn't shown it in training. That is why he hasn't been picked by Ralph.

So when exactly have we been good enough to merit insane traffic levels on this forum?

Bit different to getting a cuppa and a hot dog at half time I suppose. He's thinking outside the box already, we might be onto something here.

I wish I could be that forgiving of Ralph.   On that basis, Walcott must have shown something extraordinary at training to warrant the start v Newcastle.   Elyounoussi must be a star at training, yet how many times do you have to watch his mostly poor match day output before you pull the pin, and at least try the positive signs and potential of someone like Edozie?
