Who made you god?

Who decided to make them all one thread?

I don't remember being given a vote or choice.  What are we, copying others now?

After what 5 years someone unilaterally changed it, so lets change it back. JACK.

Or at least see what the majority wants.

Don't you get pissed off having to trawl through 10 pages to get to the match thread?  Or 25 only to have to go back three to guess when the match ended and the post match begins?

I bloody do.

Right, we’ll have a Russian election on the match threads. Everyone gets to vote but if I don’t like it I’m having some of you killed.

I'm into this, watching from the shadows, analysing, finding weakness, reporting on cracks in your armour.

You know, spy stuff.

Thanks for the vote.  I'll stand by the decision.

I said, when it was changed, that we should go back to a ‘reaction’ thread, then we can have the MAN of the match vote again. As said, it was a one man decision to make all three elements into one thread, why change what worked……change it back say I.

Who decided? Probably the people who own and/or have the aggro of operating the site.

I don't get your issue. When we had separate threads, we often had reactions on the match thread, and match stuff on the build up. One mixed thread keeps it all in one place, and everything sequential. It's no hardship to scroll up to look back.

I'm not sure who set the vote, but if it wasn't a mod, it's a bit much to set a vote that potentially means a mod needing to be on standby to switch threads the minute the start and finish whistles blow, just because a few people would prefer not to use their thumbs and scroll a bit. The mods might have better things to do.

Interesting that I find myself feeling slightly optimistic of a result, but realistically they’ve got such an abundance of quality it’s hard not to imagine a minor spanking helping them out of the mire they’re in. I’m lucky enough to have an ST in the Northam for this one - the one stand at SMS I’ve never been in before, so hoping for at least a draw to mark the occasion.

There are better ways to go about asking for things like this  tbh.

Also, your vote didn't offer a combined build up and match thread, with a seperate reaction thread.... Dissapointing from you imo 🤔,  especially as that would be a logical enough approach and my preference (if we were having seperate threads 😒) -  this is just another sham democracy in which the people are not actually represented 😪

Back to the point -  united are there for the taking and our confidence should be up.... I actually think it favours us that they beat Liverpool as we would certainly have got a crisis reaction otherwise... But they also have a good record against us and always seem to turn up at SMS lately. I would like to see us go at them, not let them settle, and get at least an early goal -  keep them on the back foot and hopefully they'll disintegrate again -  vociferous fan support required.

Reckon we'll get a 2-1, but knowing us a 2-2 is just as likely. I don't think we should be losing this.

There is absolutely no need to have 3 different threads for 1 game.  It will just clog up the board and mean different comments are all over the place.  Unless (as you say) mods are on hand to create/close threads and set up a MoM poll straight away.

Daft idea.

It's the idea that changes can be floated with the expectation that the mods do it that I find odd. Nobody can have seriously have an issue with all match related stuff in one place.

I remember the days of the “just back from the game thread” whilst on the one hand it was a passive aggressive way of boasting about who had been a better fan than others by being at the match I was always amazed how some people managed to get home within 20 minutes or sometimes less. Given the fact it could often take you that long to get out of the stadium sometimes.

I added the poll to gauge public opinion but truth be told there’s not always someone online to lock, stick and unstick threads on match days. Sometimes we’re 3-0 down and people are still going, "mods, where’s the match thread?!"

What's the point of a poll/discussion if you ain't going to make an unnecessary change that couldn't be implemented anyway?

Yep. I swear many of them posters had never been to a match in their lives!

Lazy work shy mods. Wouldn’t be surprised if you lot went on strike demanding to be taken to somewhere better than the corriander lounge for your curry nights

It was very passive aggressive indeed.

And, despite many people watching the game via a stream these days, it still happens! During the Leeds game I remember someone got very shirty about all of the negative comments in the first half and came out with “it must be very different actually down here at the ground rather than for those who can’t even be bothered to leave their own house”.

Looking forward to seeing where we are as far as a squad after the Leeds/Leicester reactions… we simply cannot afford to ‘react’ after being a goal down we need to be up for it from the get go

Utd will be bouyant after their win on Monday, so lets hope it turns into complacency

We simply have to start Che Adams. He is not only in form but integral to our build up play, other than that I wouldn’t be looking to change too much from Saturday

—- ———Bazunu—————-

KWP - ABK - Salisu - Djenepo

———--Lavia —- JWP———

—Aribo——————-S Armstrong

——-Che Adams—-Mara———-

Potentially play Ely infront of Djenepo… I know he doesn’t add a lot offensively and he is a bit boring but what he does is offers an effective aid on the left side in front of a weak LB and until we have a LB that we can rely on defensively

You’ve got a point but if the poll was unanimous we’d go back to the old format. It was messy and a bit ad hoc when there’re no mods around but if it’s what people wanted we’d do it. So far though, there’s not much in it.

Fair enough. Personally, I'd be telling those wanting change to use their thumbs and get on with it. It feels a bit ungrateful of the huge effort that you and the other mods / admins make to keep the site running.

We were playing 4222 from about 25 minutes

Started in a loose 4231/4141 but it was certainly 4321ish in defensive transitions until we moved to 4222 to finish the game off

Personally, I think it’s best all kept in one thread.

That said, I think a separate MOTM vote poll should be done for each match, and there shouldn’t be any need for mod involvement in that one, it just needs any random user to start the poll up properly after the game.

I’ll even say that I’ll incentivise it by keeping a running total of the winner(s) each week so that, by season’s end, we can have an alternative player of the season award. And, as long as I’m around at watching the game, I’m happy to set up the MOTM poll (if I’m not around I’m sure someone else can do it).

I quite like having two threads. One for Pre Match and Match, and then one for Motm/match reaction. Quite nice when you've come back from the game, reading the match reaction, rather than having to scroll through a load of the crap in the match thread trying to find the match reaction.

My personal opinion

How is that a thing when all the recent posts are of the match, then the reaction?

I don't get that. The post match stuff starts after the match finishes...nobody pipes up after the match with a prediction for the score or line up!

Is this the match thread? I couldn't tell......

--------------------------------------------

Can Ten Hag convince his team to run for the full 90 against little ol' us  in a early kick off on Saturday, like they did so well against their fiercest rivals last weekend?

If he can, and they are onboard we could be in trouble. But if secret agent Ronny & boy wonder Shaw have laid unsettled poison this week, we could well spoil the revival.

I'm not brave enough to predict a home win, but I reckon it will be a good fight!

I think have the build up and match thread be the same, but do a new one for post match reaction. That way anyone just wanting to read the reactions and ratings doesn't have to search through pages of us morons going "w00t" and raging at Ralph before going mental and loving him again.

Surely the discussion around the format of build up/post match forum threads in general is not specifically related to the upcoming Manchester United fixture and therefore should not be discussed here. Basically this thread is an absolute disgrace.

You've got to hope it'll be a case of after the lord mayors show for Man Utd.

They got themselves up for the Liverpool game, but they have a bunch of horrible complacent players who could easily forget to turn up against little old Southampton.

Agreed - I think this is best too. Also the only way to set up a poll is via a brand new thread, so makes sense to do this so we can vote for our man of the match.

Also means Lighthouse/mods only need be around at FT to lock main thread up. (Thanks in advance for your work)

I'm sure others can chip in to create a post match thread with a poll

This, but swap Elyounoussi for Stu Armstrong, please.  Does Moi start because he offers more defensive cover do we think?  He certainly doesn't offer more going forward.
