BHA winning.

I've got a friend who supports them. He says it's pretty much what we did a few years back. He's enjoying it but trying not to worry about all the players that they discovered being spirited away and if they get the replacements wrong like we did, they'll face what we've faced.

Les Reed got complacent and believed his own hype, that was our downfall. Two things Brighton are doing to show they're not getting complacent/resting on their success is that they're signing players before selling their stars. They've already got Joao Pedro in and James Milner is all but confirmed with a handful of games left in the season. That would've been unthinkable under our previous lot. Boufal, for example, Mane's replacement was signed on 29th August 2016. Two days before the window closed, wasn't given a pre-season and we sold Mane two months prior on 28th June 2016. Then there was the Van Dijk replacement debacle. Sold him before the January window opened, so a complete reverse to what Brighton are doing and then didn't "replace" him until the following summer with a complete flop in Wesley Hoedt for £15m.

That then brings the next point. Brighton are obviously going to sell some players this summer. We sold Van Dijk for a then record fee for a centre-back. But, we continued to shop in the £10m-£20m market, when prices had inflated following our previous success. So, we signed Hoedt for £15m, when probably about two years prior he would have been worth £10m and a fairer reflection on his poor quality. We saw the same when we "replaced" Ings, who was sold for £30m with Adam Armstrong for £15m. Even Leeds have two £30m+ forwards. They're both rubbish, but it's surely got to be easier to find quality for £30m than us looking for "bargains" below £20m. Joao Pedro cost Brighton £30m, so they're investing their predicted income into their transfer fees, while we were always told that the other half of our transfer income had to go towards agent fees and what not.

They were the two mistakes we made, so it will obviously take time, but Brighton could sustain this for a bit longer. It also helps that they have an invested owner, a fan of the club.

Always good to see a south coast club scoring 3 goals at the Emirates... :)

Brighton need to enjoy next season, as that is where it peaks.

No way does De Zerbi remain there beyond end of next season.

Looks like it’ll all be about the fight for fourth again this year. It’s going right to the wire I tell you

Don't underestimate the battle for 11th, quite a few teams ready to catch Chelsea to claim those honours.

Just so happens, Liverpool and Man United are battling for his very honour.  Just imagine the luck....

The title for Top of the bottom is up for grabs and going to the last day

Two giants of the game, two great managers, two clubs with class and history head to head in the battle for fourth. This is why the premier league is the greatest league in the world

Hopefully Brighton hold on to the win today, because then when they beat us they'll be 4 points ahead of Spurs who will then struggle to even get in the Conference League.

Spurs fans I know genuinely hoping they finish outside of Euro spots, so spoilt they'd rather not have Europa or conference as its beneath them and focus on getting champions league again next season

It's disapointing the Prem has become uncompetitive if/when City win again to make it 4 out of the last 5 league titles . I was hoping Arsenal would win this one to shake it up slightly but we seem to be stuck with a league dominated by 3 or 4 teams.

not just saying this as we finished 20th but the difference between the bottom 10 and top 10 has surely got larger. Everyone’s dogshit in the lower half of the table.

maybe, but the top 10 has Fulham, Brentford, Brighton and Villa in it.

I hope no one got injured at the stampede at the Arsenal game today. I'm guessing it was a fire alarm that made everyone leave so quickly....

I dont think we can mock that after Saturday!

I did chuckle yesterday during the Arse/Brighton game when Martin Tyler was banging the drum for the Premier League again. Basically saying it was the best league in the world as its not dominated by one team each year.

Gary Neville was claiming how it’s amazing any team in the prem can get a big manager from another league citing wolves with Lopa.. and Villa with Emery. Um he should ask Leicester and Saints fans about that. We ended up with Nathan Jones FFS

Leicester leaving themselves a lot to do now.

If they lose this they'll be 2 points from safety and play Newcastle next.

8th last season to relegation this some fall! Why they appointed Dean Smith  who got sacked from Norwich fck knows experience?

Leicester look as doomed as us, it has to be said. I think most fans accept being beaten by quality, but it's the lack of effort and closing down which is killing Leicester here and it's what has killed us for a lot of the season.

The way their confidence left them as soon as they lost a single goal was so relatable though. I do think they'll be joining us.

Agree with that. No fight left in that team either. They might get something against West Ham, depending if they are still in Europe come the last day.

They’ve got a safe (pretty much) West Ham to play last game of the season, so there may be one final chance. Leeds play West Ham next too, and they actually looked alright against Newcastle so could see them getting the result that would drag Forest back into the mix.

Watching this game on TV, we need to move up three gears to be competitive next year. The touch might not be super good but the speed of play from these two sides is refreshing.

Luton would batter us.

Definitely shows you need solid CBs who are not afraid of a physical battle and do the basics well.

Not Lyanco essentially. Bednarek would actually be well suited.

Was hoping Luton stayed down as fancied that as an away trip much more than Sunderland but agreed both would dick Saints at this moment

Top atmosphere at Luton tonight, the benefit of an old compact ground for a big match 😢

It’s more the occasion than the ground. St Mary’s was heaving for the JPT Southern final, second leg when we had a trip to Wembley on the table.

First time I've seen Luton, they would beat Saints on this showing. The quote ' Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard' definitely applies to them. Sunderland's talented youngsters are being overwhelmed.

However can they maintain it. Most decent teams absorb the pressure and then pounce when they run out of energy and ideas. Remember Poch's early teams after 70 mins. Always a testing times.

Guess this is what Jones wanted to do with Saints
