Much as we all hate Everton I think we probably all knew in our heart of hearts that there was little chance of them being one of the worst 3 teams.   On the other hand, we all probably knew that in a season where the bar has been ridiculously low,  Saints would contrive to go down without so much as a whimper.  Fucking worse season I can remember in many years.

A good time for a points deduction...

No chance.  They have done it again!

Saints, Leicester and either Forest or Leeds, it seems

If Baz was in nets for Everton they’d have lost 4-5

Swap keepers this season and they’d be on single figures.

22% possession for Everton yet a 5-1 victory.

4 shots on target and scored 5!

Real seem to get away with numerous tackles as well as shoving Grealish into the ad hoardings in the first half . Carvajal eventualy got a yellow card for a really bad tackle at the end of the first half but nothing for shoving Grealish , probably because he went down himself to make out he was shoved as well !

Just watching the Milan champions league derby, it’s a brilliant atmosphere. Then it hit me, if AC Milan played DC United the atmosphere would be truly electric.

How many of West Hams subs get into our first team?

I'm going with five.

Fab, Fornals, Lanzini, Cornet and Ings for sure. Downes would also get plenty of games for us, Emerson too.

Is that Claise playing for AZ our former midfield star?

Unlucky with injuries here iirc. Didn’t he get injured in his first start in the Europa league.

Always felt like there was a player in there, just needed some time and a run of games to adapt to the pace of the PL.

Signed as a replacement for Wanyama / Morgan, but he was never really that type of player.

He could never get to the fitness levels required in the premier league. Had a few decent games for us, and undoubtedly had taltent, but not the level of talent required to replace MS or VW. Most people said at the time he was an unnecessary signing given Harry Reed was coming through.  He probably ended up being the reason Reed left.

Wasn't Clasie a smoker and couldn't last the full 90 minutes?  He's just not a premier league "type" of player - he's technical strong but slow.  Surprised it didn't go better under Puel though as that was his type of football.

Looks like we can rule out a trip to Hillsborough next season...

Have to feel sorry for Wednesday, and it just highlights the injustice of the playoff system really. They finished the season with a record points tally for a team outside the top two (96) and, barring a very unlikely turnaround in the second leg, they are going to lose out to a team that finished 19 points behind them, having lost three times as many games.

Skate at work was hoping Weds would get promoted.

Weds way better than them this season and if staying down pushes them down another place

Every cloud etc..

I'm just looking at it from a purely selfish POV. I live in Sheffield and I was hoping I would be able to watch Saints at Hillsborough next season. At least Rov'rum and Hudds stayed up, and there's still a chance the Dingles might win the L1 playoffs, so I'll still have dome fairly local games to get to.

Too many teams I want to fail. Would love Newcastle to fuck up CL qualification but then Leeds, who I’d like to stay up ordinarily but then Allardyce will be even more insufferable. Also Liverpool are ones who will take advantage if Geordies blow it.  Still most important is Everton suffer so c’mon Leeds

This. 1-1 currently and Leeds had a penalty saved but I'd take Leeds survival if it meant Everton come down with us. I don't hate Everton per se, I just think it would be an interesting summer if they came down what with their 75 year stint in the top flight coming to an end and their financial difficulties. Won't happen though. They'll survive because they're spawny.

I get what you're saying, but it's like penalty shootouts. You don't really want to contest one if it's your own team, but the drama for neutrals is huge. Sport at its best.

As a consolation, it might galvanise them to get the job done next year - think Huddersfield Town the year we pipped them out of League One.

It's not really comparable to a penalty shootout in terms of fairness. A penalty shootout is to decide a winner between two teams that couldn't beat each other over the course of 90 or 120 minutes.

The play offs are great drama, but fair? Absolutely not.

Massive overreaction to the Leeds fan having a word with Eddie Howe or a worrying incident that means we should arm stewards with batons and put snipers on stadium roofs?

Many years ago I sold and installed some scoreboards at Strasbourg’s ground. They have concrete moats patrolled by dogs and the away supporters are caged up in a corner with a wire fence the same height as one around a tennis court.

We don’t want to see that here.

I see that Leeds fan is being charged with assault and ‘entering the field of play’. To be fair, I think we had 11 people at our game yesterday who you could apply the latter to.

I really don’t understand refereeing and how the rules are applied these days. Martinelli not even booked for that challenge?

It was a terrible challenge and very meant. Yellow all day long.
Martinelli gets his come uppence by getting a cynical chop also no yellow.
Strange reffing.
