Pfft  I flip flop week on week who I think goes down, it's still almost impossible to say (bar us!). I think West Ham and above are safe enough. So 4 in it (as well as us).

Looking at fixtures:

Everton - Brighton (A), Man City (H), Wolves (A), Bournemouth (H) - Probably won't get any points from the next two but have two teams at the end who will be on the beach. POINTS - 6.

Forest - Us (H), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (H), Palace (A) - 3 points from us, 3 from Palace on the beach, possibly a point at Chelsea. POINTS 7

Leeds - Man City (A), Newcastle (H), West Ham (A), Spurs (H) - Difficult to say - Nil from the next 2, possibly 4 from the last 2 games. POINTS 4.

Leicester - Fulham (A), Liverpool (H), Newcastle (A), West Ham (H) - Again difficult. I think West Ham will be safe by the last two games so 3 there, and 3 at Fulham. POINTS 6.

So that's Everton on 35, Forest on 37, Leeds on 34 and Leicester on 36. I've probably been overly generous points-wise and there are bound to be some surprises but that sees us go down with LEEDS and EVERTON. I'd take that with bells on. IF Everton can pick up something at Brighton, if Forest somehow don't beat us, if Leeds somehow win their last 2 or if Leicester fail to get their two wins then of course it will all change again so it's too difficult to say right now.

It is very likely that, apart from us, the relegation battle will go down to the last day. What's interesting is none of the 4 play each other from now on and only Forest play us.

Shit if we get 12 points, we're safe. Even 10 might do it!

Even if they give Fat Sam a million a game and he keeps them up it is worth it. He has quite simple methods, sure. But isn't it better than Selles' boring, over complicated, crab side to side, flat back four, high press, flat white, crapuccino, false nine, false 8, false economy, Pep cos-play, random team selecting, lily-livered, slow, incomprehensible, bat-shit form of 'management'?

I think it is.

Big Sam potentially keeping Leeds up and Big Sam keeping us up are two entirely different situations.

For this SA wants big thigh players that’ll put a challenge in, at Leeds he has that. If he were to hypothetically join us, he doesn’t.

Leeds players throw everything in and love a tackle. Most of ours are cowardly or are made of glass and crumble. Imagine Big Sam trying to change any of our players - he just wouldn’t.

Really don't see that he'll make any much difference at either Leeds or Saints.  Leeds don't defend well and can't score, they have acquired a lot of players from the Bundesliga that don't look good enough for the prem or are having difficulty in adapting.  If Saints had 30 points, a manager like BFS might have some sort of chance with us, but as we don't............ Don't see many managers being able to get us 7 or 8 points more from our remaining games so we are toast anyway.

Does anyone find this Wrexham thing a bit odd? They've got a live BBC Sport commentary page broadcasting coverage and providing comms on the Wrexham open top bus parade.

I cannot in my life remember a team in the National League getting promoted and getting this level of coverage. All a bit odd to me

They’re the flavour of the month because of the whole Netflix/Hollywood thing. Not really surprising I guess, as a lot of people will have been following with mild interest.

I've had conversations with a few people who only have a passing interest in football about Wrexham, so it goes to show how powerful a celebrity owner and a Netflix special can be.

Heard a report on the radio a week or so ago when they were interviewing some American people who'd come over for a game, apparently they have a steady stream of foreign visitors for each match much like the tourist fans in the Premier League.

I haven't done any reading up on this, but there must be some long term fans of the club who are a bit weirded out by all the coverage and the random new fans that have suddenly appeared from around the globe.

There's regulars who used to drink in the pub next to the ground that's been made famous by the docu series who have given up drinking there as its full of people taking selfies before the game now.

I watched the series out of interest and it was alright really , they've definitely helped raise the profile of the National League, Americans know who Maidenhead and Borehamwood are

Fair play to them.  Very good marketing by the owners, who seem to be taking the fans with them.

Read that during the summer (tour of the USA), Wrexham will be playing Man U and Chelsea.  Furthermore, it was Chelsea who requested the fixture!

And Reynolds said Wrexham name goes first as that is the one attracting the fans. They've had big viewing numbers over there for the series so guess they deserve it, played a blinder in PR.

No. People are interested in them because they've managed to raise their profile. That's marketing, not odd.

Was a bit like it with Salford City, Class of 92 etc and a documentary there too. Wrexham a more historic club and representing north Wales so some differences. Salford bobbing around the L2 play off places and not quite as big a media draw as they were, but better that than a Yeovil rise to the Champ, narrow relegation and rapid drop to Conference South. If I was a Wrexham fan, and I’d watch them stagnate in non league for 15 years, I would welcome all of the attention.

Why are football fans so precious? :D

Anyway, is Les Reed still running the football side of things there out of interest?

Yeah, I hate scattergun transfer clubs. That's why I'm glad we've only signed:

Bazunu

Perraud

Bree

ABK

DCC

Alcaraz

Lavia

Larios

Aribo

Edozie

Tall Paul

Sulemana

Orsic

and AMN on loan.

It’s mental really. The only ones that are starting regularly:

Bazunu - shouldn’t be
Perraud - decent but not great.
ABK - could be class, but had a lot of injuries.
Lavia - could be world class
Alcaraz - good player, but really inconsistent.

Most of the rest have been a categoric waste of money.

TBF, you’d struggle to find many Saints fans who find Saints likeable at the moment.

Still, I hope we give our manager's job to Jose Fonte because he was a great player for us, the fans love him and he is definitely a winner or something.

In a season where Lampard's rep was already through the floor after his Everton tenure, he has probably totally ended his managerial career with this truly awful Chelsea spell.

I would honestly take him next season.

Not in any way a Sam Allardodgy fan but this post has eloquently argued for it, tongue firmly in cheek, and therefore, I’m in.

People can joke all they want about Lampard but he’s achieved more as a manager than Selles ever has and, I expect, will.

- Performed well with Derby and knocked us out of the cup.

- Got Chelsea CL football and to an FA Cup final under a transfer embargo.

- Kept Everton up last season (something which Selles failed miserably at)

If he hadn’t had a mare of a second season with Everton or tried to steady the ship of a truly basket case club like Chelsea, we’d still be clamouring for a manager like him.

I say bring him in next season with a clean slate and see what he can do.

I didn't realise that the only two available managers on earth were Frank Lampard and Ruben Selles.

I assume the point is regardless of how embarrassingly bad Lampard is we're hardly in a position to laugh as we've managed to appoint someone even worse

There is no way I would want Lampard anywhere near Southampton, esp with that stupid old git of an uncle just down the road BUT it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if we didnt go for him.

The only thing I will say is he did well in the Championship with Derby and thats probably about his level. I just hope SR dont see it that way.

Think we would more likely go with Gerrard. At least he only has one sacking to his name.

Ah. Yes, 'necessarily' would have been a mite different. Who needs words eh? I agree with the sentiment though. I do wonder if Viera would improve the next time, but Gerrard and Lampard look like busted flushes, certainly. If we go for Scott Parker I think I might just give up on football for good. (and watch Saints hahahahah)
