Brilliant finish to this one. Newcastle just hit the bar. End to end, now they have a free kick in Trippier territory.

Schar took it and missed!

Villa fans have wanted him out since last season, it's getting pretty toxic there now.

At least we had the excuse of early red cards in both our 9-0 games. Bournemouth managed it with 11 men still on the pitch at FT.

Yeah, but we’ve got 2 of the fuckers. Liverpool are a class side, losing 9 to Leicester at home with 10  is just as bad as losing 9 at anfield with 11

At least it puts right the nauseating rubbish that came out when he got the job. Including some of this forum that had swallowed the idea that he was some wonder manager in the making, next stop Anfield. Ridiculous.

He'd basically achieved something that the likes of Neil Lennon had achieved. He's clearly out of his depth and not living up to the celebrity hype. Let's hope it goes on a few months more so Villa become a proper relegation threatened club.

I clicked back to the first page of that thread and quite a lot of them weren't particularly happy about the appointment in the first place which was interesting.

I thought Garth Crooks had been binned off from the BBC or was that just his presence on TV, and allowed to do his team of the week.  Having just seen his Team of the Week on the Beeb website prompted the question -  His choices were predictable. Thankfully none of the Saints team warranted inclusion having been “hammered” by Utd - so not touted about every club with money to spend as a result.

AFC Totton 0-1 Sholing. Tight game, Totton had more possession but Sholing hit them on the break with about 25 mins to go and held on.

913 there so a great attendance. An enjoyable bank holiday afternoon.

Just to put into perspective about how bad losing 9-0 is…..

How Ralph has survived 2 of these, I’ll never know.

Very idiotic from Bournemouth I think. Bit harsh especially four games in when three of them were Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool - and they won the fourth game.

I’m not saying he’s a great manager by any means but seems very stupid when the window ends in a couple of days.

Parker had been complaining about lack of transfer spending in recent interviews. It would seem that him and the board weren't on the same page. Sounds like they would have parted ways at some point in the not too distant future regardless of the 9-0. That just acted as a catalyst I would imagine.

This is more than just the 9-0, apparently there has been a fundamental bust up behind the scenes. Parker asking for 'more money' and saying that the squad is underequipped has infuriated their owner, apparently.

He funded a bit of a spree last January to get them out of the Championship, on the opinion that those players would be long-term investments - not just quick buys to get them out of the league, and it seems as if Parker saw them as short-term fixes and wanted more money this summer. He's probably not wrong, you can't say Keefer Moore is a long-term investment. But it looks like both sides have been idiots here and communication was crap.

Says Gary O' Neil and Shaun Cooper are in temporary charge. Assume it's those two ex Pompey players?

Yeah, those are the two.

I saw some Bournemouth fans thinking Steve Cooper was a realistic target 😅

Kinda does beg the question who is realistically going to go there, with what is essentially a Championship squad. Less than three days until the window shuts as well. I don't think there are as an attractive proposition as they think they are.

It's been widely reported and, understood by those that know football, that he was sacked for his ongoing griping about the team quality and depth. That's why.

I’m fairness I hadn’t been playing much attention to them and have since seen the reaction which mirrors what you’re saying… so yeah, fair point… slightly different situations I guess.

Yeh he wasn't sacked because of the 9-0, he basically came out after and said all the players were crap and we haven't bought anyone in so how can you expect them to compete. I mean he must be looking at Forest and Fulham splashing the cash and wonder what is going on.

Didn't they spend a load of money last season to get promoted again though and had a bunch of expensive loans? And they spent a load of money whilst in the premier league last time too ?

They have got a crap squad though.  But at the end of the day, if the manager and chairman aren't aligned then there is no point carrying on.

This is the same club that spunked £25m on Solanke and £19 on Ibe.

More nonsense from Sky Sports experts.

Mind you Fulham are signing Willian which is a dodgy move. At 34 you have to wonder if he’s not past it.

Forest are… well nobody has seen anything like what Forest are doing. Bournemouth have a little quality but this is probably the toughest league in years and I just struggle to see them surviving. Whoever the new manager is, if he keeps them up he deserves a knighthood. I suspect it will be Dyche.

Dundee UTD have just sacked their head coach.
coincidently they lost 9- at the weekend.
parker didn’t help himself with a scathing attack on his squad and lack of financial backing.
I maintain Ralph is very lucky to still be gaffer.

I’d imagine after binning of Puel, Pellegrino, then Hughes - there was not much left in the budget to bin another after Leicester - then the Man Utd one, when you look back at the circumstances with Saints emotion removed we were heading for a tough night before the team coach left Southampton: and in little over a minute the rest is history.

We lost 3-1 in the EFL cup.

Pompey lost 6-5 on penalties to Crawley after letting in a 95th minute equaliser.
