um pahars Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 Um I agree you didnt say he was ****e but others intimated that. Glad we cleared that up;) Given that it would appear that the signing was either agreed today with registration with the FA taking place tomorrow. I would suggest it has nothing to do with JP more to do with Wotte. Well considering that on Friday evening, Wilde said he was hopeful of signing a striker, then unless Wotte moves as quick in the transfer market as Wilde did to his car on Saturday, then I would say this deal was in motion before Jan got the boot (and you'll have to trust me on this one, because I know it was in motion before Wotte took over). UP in ITK shocker But we need a big lump of a forward in the CCC, I think most of us have said that at various times this season. So the only knowledge I can bring to this is that (according to Wiki) he is 6ft 2in so ket's just hope he actually fits the bill

Viking Warrior Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 I totally missed the post about wilde stating they were hopeful of signing a striker. Which given the timing would suggest that it was JP signing but then again I think that JP was given his marching orders a few days before it was formally annouced. only speculating as I do not have any contacts

Saint Martini Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 looks a good signing, and this guy is from a better team? Indeed, although it must be said that Denneboom wasn't a regular anymore at Twente. He was last season though and then they managed to get the second Dutch CL spot. Wotte NOT good though and should NEVER be a First/coach/manager at the Saints.....NOT good enough. Ow, my mistake. I was thinking this topic was about Denneboom. His pedigree indicates he should be a good signing and we've all be crying out for a striker. Anyway the fact that McClaren doesnt rate him enough to keep him is a recommendation in my book. JP failed, he couldn't adjust to England and paid the price. Besides that I don't like the appointment of Wotte but that doesn't make Denneboom a bad player. In the end I'm sure that the team that we had the first half of the season was JP's team since Wotte likes to play a different kind of game. But like I said before, that's not what this is about, this is about Denneboom. A more then decent Dutch PL player that PSV tried to sign not too long ago. He went to Twente instead had a good season but was played out of the team by Arnoutovic this season. He's a good player who deserves an honest chance from the fans and definately doesn't deserve to be marked as a crap player before the ink on his contract has dried (if he's even officially signed already). Don't raise your hopes he might go to one of the bigger clubs interested in him, like Northampton, Swindon or Eastleigh. If he comes he will soon show his class when match fit...so yes, he will get the chance in some reserve games alongside our other stars like Pulis and Gasmi. Alain Perrin Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 15 odd players since June would suggest we have had a degree of latitude regards spending money. It should have been spent much more wisely and it should have been overseen by a competent manager. Transfer fees / loan arrangements are small beer compared to the (obscene) wages some of our 'stars' have been on. I bet you can pay the wages of most of those 15 with a John + a Rasiak. Youth = pocket money. Your 'who signs who stick' is irrelevant. SFC have had the same policy on signings for the last 10yrs. Chairman, scouts, managers, agents, coaches provide the options and a commitee of people decide based on need, quality and finances. Personally I am happier with that than having a manager running around with a brown envelope. If we have a brute of a striker, great, we need one. Climb down off your anti-Lowe horse and try to be happy about it

jam Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 Glad we cleared that up;) Well considering that on Friday evening, Wilde said he was hopeful of signing a striker, then unless Wotte moves as quick in the transfer market as Wilde did to his car on Saturday, then I would say this deal was in motion before Jan got the boot (and you'll have to trust me on this one, because I know it was in motion before Wotte took over). This discussion about who is doing the signing of players reminded me of the interview with on the BBC with Saeijs, where he mentioned Wotte a few times. To me it seemed like Wotte had a lot of say in the deal so was this a one off? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7808268.stm - Third iPlayer link down. I think we're clearly signing players by committee. I don't think that's a new thing (excepting the Wilde / execs / Crouch periods of control). What I do think is that we have less talent spotting capability on this committee now.
Professor Posted 25 January, 2009 Share Posted 25 January, 2009 Except that no one wants the dutch manager here. When he leaves what will become of the Dutch players? Hypo, the people who complain about managers because they are Dutch are just looking for excuses to complain about any decision taken by Lowe. If Martin O'Neill was appointed the usual suspects would find something to complain about if the appointment was made by Rupert. All managers use their own experience to judge players, just as Burley used to favour players he'd worked with at other clubs, so its to be expected that Wotte would be best placed to judge a Dutch player. Saint Bones Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 (edited) Looks like a free transfer, dependant on FC Twente signing Nikita Rukavytsya from the Australian side for €600k - nothing on either transfer on the FC Twente official site Apologies - mis-translated part of it - he is out of favour at the moment with the Tukkers (FC Twente's nickname) All the press here is that Nikita has signed. So may definatly affect the decision. Gem of a player ( Nikita that is - Pity we'Saints' didnt sign him) EDIT: 'IF' he does come to us - I wish him all the best. (sadly theres a few on here that want to see him fail already - and he's not confirmed. Memories of Davis when he signed.) Proven player in the Eredivisie and I seem to remember him having a decent game vs Arsenal in the Champions League Qualifiers when Arsenal went over to Holland and struggled for the most of the game, only for Twente to fall apart in the 2nd half. Oh and for what it's worth, he used to destroy defences at the highest level if you signed him in FM07 ;-p

A great little player yes, world class no. I hope we do get this guy and that he does great things for us, but to even hint that he is, or could be, world class is simply laughable.
